October 9, 200520 yr k whoever the hell said chris agulia is gonna hit 15 hrs is funny. that wont happen in his ENTIRE career. If We Are Smart we move Delgado somewhere(away from the NL EAST) and get a 1b/0f and maybe a pitcher in return. id like to see us get joe mays as a number 5 guy. if gonzo stays itll be bc of castillo bc they are incredible together and if he goes hes heading to the white sox. nomar would be a complete waste here bc he will only get hurt. id love to see us pick up furcal, but lets be serious, would a brave come to florida? hell no thats like a yankee becoming a red sox(starter not like bellhorn or some POS) Have you ever seen Aguila at the plate? He has some serious pop, if he got regular ABs he could hit 15 HR, if not more. Not to mention he is above average defensively and will swipe bags. What are you basing this on!!! Aguila has how many major league HR's?!
October 9, 200520 yr I LIKE IT ALL EXCEPT AGUILA IN RIGHT... HES A BENCH GUY AND A GOOD ONE AT THAT. I SAY LOWELL AT 3RD TRUST ME I HAVE A HUNCH THAT LOWELL IS GONNA BLOW EVERY ONE AWAY. PUT CABS IN RIGHT AND EVERYTHING IS RIGHT ON TARGET. NICE LINEUP :thumbup WE ALSO NEED TO GET POSITIVE BENCH GUYS WITH CHARACTER TO LIGHTEN UP THE CLUB. AND WE NEED SOME CRAFTY VETS TO KEEP ARROGANT YOUNG PALYERS IN THEIR PLACE WITH A TEAM FIRST ATTITUDE. IF CABS GETS SET STRAIGHT BY A KNOWLEDGEABLE VET... CABS WILL BE SCARY GOOD... I MEAN EVEN SCARIER THAN HE IS NOW....CRAZY SCARY!
October 9, 200520 yr Willy should play. JH in RF, JP is C, 9R in FL, with Willy and him rotating in and out. Dookie catches, Lowell 3b, cabs SS, Luis and Gado finishing up the infeild, and ill be on the mound.. >_> RoRod... caps...

October 9, 200520 yr Am I the only one on the whole site that thinks that Delgado will not be back next year?
October 9, 200520 yr Am I the only one on the whole site that thinks that Delgado will not be back next year? yup because when he does come back some1 is gonna feel stupid :thumbup
October 9, 200520 yr Am I the only one on the whole site that thinks that Delgado will not be back next year? Why because Peter Gammons say so?

No. I haven't read or heard anything Gammons has said in over a month. I had found his so-called inside information to be not worth much. His opinion means nothing to me.
October 9, 200520 yr ...He's not the power addict that everyone thinks he is. If you saw him in BP you wouldn't say that.
October 9, 200520 yr ...He's not the power addict that everyone thinks he is. If you saw him in BP you wouldn't say that. If you saw Brett Myers in BP you'd think he could hit 50 homers....so nice try on that one.

Aguila hit .243 3 HR, 5 2B, 1 #B, and 9 RBI in 123 spaced out AB's with alot of time in between and over 2 seasons... Willingham, in 48 AB's spread out over 2 seasons, has hit .250 with 1 HR, 1 2B, and 5 RBI So, their batting stats are remarkably similar(in fact taken out to match Willingham and Aguila's ABs, they would be almost exactly the same), yet Aguila has vastly superior defense and speed on the basepaths...Aguila is more valueable than Willingham

If you saw Brett Myers in BP you'd think he could hit 50 homers....so nice try on that one. One thing (or person) has nothing to do with the other. But I guess being a thousand miles away and never attending games gives you a perspective that season ticketholders don't have. That and the fact your absolutism on almost every subject translates into being wrong most of the time. Aguila and Willingham have a chance this spring with positions open to show what they can do. Frankly I hope they both overachieve and picking one of them to start winds up being the hardest decision the team has to make coming out of ST.

October 9, 200520 yr as much as furcal would be a good fit for the marlins, the money used to get him would be better off if used for the bullpen, because as we all know our bullpen sucks.we should sign nomar for a minimum and let robert andino slowly work his way into the lineup during the season.

Furcal would be a horrible fit for this team. We have a better defensive SS right now in Gonzalez, if we decide to spend the money we might as well keep Seabass.

Three words WE NEED OFFENSE Furcal > Gonzo offensively

Furcal would be a horrible fit for this team. We have a better defensive SS right now in Gonzalez, if we decide to spend the money we might as well keep Seabass. Three words WE NEED OFFENSE Furcal > Gonzo offensively Please explain your reasoning here because there is no basis for that comment. Gonzo had a bad arm all year and went in a power funk. He is getting that taken care of. If Gonzo is back to his old self offensively next season Gonzalez>Furcal offensively...we need power not people to get on base. And we already have 2 leadoff hitters who will hit for a higher average, steal as many or more bases. Gonzalez is a year removed from a 23 HR 80+ RBI season, Furcal's career high for HR and RBI is 15 and 61, so once again, Gonzo>Furcal offensively(powerwise...which is what we need) and defensively.
October 10, 200520 yr I say start them both... 2b- Castillo C- LoDuca 1b- Delgado 3b- Cabrera Rf- Hermida SS- Nomar Lf- Willy Cf- Aguila That will work... atleast for me :thumbup
October 10, 200520 yr Rferry, I didn't mention Gonzo's arm injury but since you asked, and it got me thinking, because I had vague memories of hearing it much earlier in the season as well, I tried to find the earliest comments appeared in print. Below is the earliest I could find. That doesn't mean DVH or Hutton et al didn't mention something or that there wasn't something written earlier (because with there being another "Alex Gonzalez" SS, and the number of capsule-type articles published daily, it's a difficult search) but here's one from late July. July 22nd - http://ap.lancasteronline.com/4/bbn_pirates_marlins

And as to whether I'm biased towards Willingham, Ramp can answer that. I think he's probably wanted to kill me a few times over Willingham.
October 10, 200520 yr I am wondering something and maybe someone out there can help. Perhaps also it will allow the people that are in disagreement about Willy and Aguila to think at their discussion from a new angle. Let me pose this scenario and question to you, Gentlemen. We all agree that the Front Office is going to shop Mike Lowell and I think we can all agree that no team is going to take him by himself. We can assume that the add on player will either be Pierre (who I think has more value) and Castillo. With that all being true this is my question. What could we get in return? Obviously both speed men have thier weaknesses and strengths. But I think it would be foolish to think that we wouldnt get something of great value in return. I think that this argument of Willy and aguila could be a waste of time if the team receives a quality outfielder, which is a possibility. NOTE: I didnt pose this question to get into a debate about why we shouldnt trade Pierre or Castillo. I just wanted input as to where we stand with trading two of the most popular Marlins in team history. I feel that Lowell AND pierre OR Castillo wont be back next season and I just wonder what their value is. Please dont bash me for asking this? I think by now eveyone is familiar with my strategy. If not here it is, I would trade Billy the Marlin if it would help us win. In my eyes. No, player is safe as long as it helps us win. Some may think I am a bad fan but I want to win and keeping guys around because we like them isnt going to help very much. Adoration doesnt win the World Series With that question posed, the ball is in you guys court. Let me know what you think?
