October 25, 200521 yr FeLo has one of the greatest comments I have ever heard, on this thread: Why? Just because Delhomme can pass better then Vick, doesn't make him a better QB. I have been meaning to come back to this, because I just loved this quote. A quarterback passes the ball and hand the ball off to running backs. That is their job description. But throwing the ball is the primary function of the quarterback. Are you following me? Delhomme is a far superior passer than Mike Vick, and since passing is the primary aspect of being a quarterback, and with Delhomme being BETTER at it than Vick, Delhomme is a better QB. I know that might be hard for someone like FeLo and FishFanInPa to understand, both seem to see the jersey sells and the Nike commercials and ignore obvious defencies in his game...mainly, the main aspect of his job, which is THROWING THE BALL. I for one would take Matt Schaub over Mike Vick. I think they'd realize that with Schaub at QB they wouldn't have to rely so heavily on the run, they wouldn't have one of the worst passing attacks in the game, and the W/L record would be the same. Plus, the pocket book would be lighter, allowing them to further improve in other areas. Case in point, in Schaub's one start this season, he went 18/34 for 298 yards, 3 TDs, 0 INT. That was against New England.

October 28, 200521 yr I would take the worst QB in the league statistically if he took me to the NFC Championship game. I agree that Vick is overrated and a huge poster boy for ESPN, but if a team isnt suffering because of his play, it doesnt really matter what his stats are.

October 28, 200521 yr Let me summarize this drivel: Vick is a good quarterback. Vick is not a conventional quarterback. The fact that Vick is unconventional as a QB should be taken into account when using passing stats as evidence for his skills.
October 28, 200521 yr For what it's worth, Sports Illustrated ranked Vick 6th in the list of franchise QB's in football, behind McNabb, Eli, Carson, Big Ben, Brady, and Peyton Manning, who was given an asterisk and for some stupid reason wasn't ranked. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/multimedi.../content.5.html Granted, they don't give real reasons behind their methodology except for saying the generic "QB's you'd want to build a franchise around," and the list includes Brady Quinn 7th :plain and Matt Schaub 9th :lol , so the list probably shouldn't be taken that seriously. And saying Vick is a bottom five QB is absurd on just about every level. He's not one of the top passers in the NFL, and I don't particularly like him (though he's exciting to watch), but he's in the top half of the NFL in QB's at the least.
