Working out

Featured Replies

Post what you normally do in your work outs...

I do this for about five days a week

I get up in the morning go online for a little bit eat and then head out and do about 15 - 30 miles on my mountain bike.

After I get my energy back which usually takes awhole...

20x5 laps back and forth in the pool with 30 second breaks in in between.

25x2 of pushups

25x4 of Sit ups

My weight lifting varies on how I feel that day.

Than I try to do a little running and then if I'm still good I do a short run on my mountain bike usually 5 - 10 miles, that's only if I feel really good.

Now I just started this about right before I left for Philly.

That workout will change Monday when I go back to school but I still plan on doing an hour on my bike and weight lifting during school days.

Now Post yours.

Go outside.

Walk around. Sweat in the hot Texas sun. Hell you can just stand and lean.

Watch the pounds melt away. Just dont be eating and/or drinking while you do this...save for water.

I am preparing to embark on a new workout regimen. Once I figure out what it will entail I will provide more info.

I'd take up biking, I do realize that it's Brutal in Texas but it's one of the few things save for swimming that I enjoy and keeps you in shape.

well wake up go online for about an hour. (it will be at least 1:00 when i wake up) Then i wait untill 5:00 and i go to baseball and thats my workout untill 9:30 PM :D

Well, I do have to work out 4 days a week in the summer for football...

I used to run too, until I found out, that since I am not on the preseason 90 man roster, there is no need for me to run because I wont be taking the conditioning test (haha).

But for running (for most of the summer), I would do:

Monday and Thursday:

1) Agilities

2) 4-6 60 yd stride checkers (your running stride starts off short, and by the end of the 60 yards, is as long of a stride as possible)

3) 4 or 5 45 yd accelerations (1st 15 yards 1/2 speed, 2nd 15 yards 3/4 speed, last 15 yards full speed)

4) 4-6 50 yard sprints

5) sled-pulling (#s of reps varies from 4-8, weight varies from 45 lbs to 115 lbs)

6) different agility drills such as the L-drill, 70-yd shuttles, and Pro Agility (usually 2 or 3 of each drill)

7) 300 yard shuttles--50 yards and back 3X (usually do 3 300 yd shuttles)

Tuesdays: 10-14 110 yd sprints, 2-4 80 yd sprints, 2-4 60 yd sprints, 2-4 40 yd sprints

Fridays: 14-18 110 yd sprints

As for lifting:

Monday: bench, military press (or shoulder press), lateral raises w/dumbells, tricep extensions, tricep pulldowns, hammer curls, ez-curlbar curls, another form of bench

Tuesday: squat, clean, lat pulldowns, low rows, leg extension, leg curl, glute-hams

Thurs: same as monday

Friday: same as tuesday

I try to work out 5 days a week during summer

and 3 during school because i dont have as much time

but i usually go to the gym and do free weights for about and hour

than hop on the treadmill and walk/run 5 miles

i also do pushups/and situps about 50/100 breaking after a set. before i got to bed

Go to the gym and bust my a$$ all summer, to be in great shape for basketball season.

Well....that WAS my plan.

I got lazy and slacked off a bit.

OK......I slacked off a lot. :banghead

Nice topic here.

Well lets see, right now I'm conditioning, here's what I do now. I just spread it throughout the day in between classes and sometimes even like at early early morning hours if I missed it throughout the day.

Note: I do all my running on rubberized track.

-Run 2 miles under 13 min.

-Jog 1 mile under 10 min for cool down

-Do 2 800 meter sprints, walk 400 meters and finish off with a 400 meter sprint.

-strech for a long time, then do sprint drills and work with hurdles. The hurdles is for my stride. I don't jump them, I just just do drills with them.

During the day when I'm on the computer or watching TV in between commercials or before I shower, I do 200 pushups. 12 sets of 15 and 2 sets of 10.

200 situps, 50 x 4. Do this in between pushup sets.

Note: with the pushups I usually do these at least 5 times a week. Everything else is 7 days.

In about 4 more weeks I will shift the conditioning to sprints only and be timing myself in 100, 200 meters and 60 yrd dashes and be working on sprint technique and drills.

and on top of everything, there's practice. (I do alot more than I'm supposed to): about 150 grounders everday and 150 swings from both sides of the plate in the cages everday, along with some hitting off a tee and that hit-a-way crap thing when I'm bored at my place.

I used to so alot of weightlifting for my arms and stuff, but now I just do for my forearms. Pushups and all that other stuff is enough for me... the cages alone are one hell of a workout.

Oh and sometimes I will take a caffeine pill, or this euphedrine stuff called yellow jacket or black beauty. You can get it at GNC, its not supposed to be good for you, but its good for running and stuff, and also to study for more than 24 hours lol.

Thats about it.

well, the funny thing, is that caffiene is technically banned...well, its on the banned list....but there is no way of regulating it...i mean, you drink coffee or coke or somethin and there's caffiene.

Naw, I don't use caffiene...in fact I try stayin away from that stuff. I'm sure it's good for a pre-game boost, but that would not have a good effect on me. I just stick with Whey Protein, Creatine, and for after workouts, L-Glutamine and Gatorload.

Alright alright...so I see no females posted in here....unless I missed that.

I work out at least 5-6 days a week, as long as I'm healthy.

1-wake up around 4:30-6 and get dressed :Running shorts and sports bra:

2-stretch and then begin to run 6-9miles in under 1hour if I'm pushing myself

3-come home lift weights and do

--50x2 sit-ups

--25x3 push-ups

--30 bicycles

--then I do 10 mintues of stretching cool down:

4-shower and get ready for my day..use to be ballet class now it's just work and gonna be college classes

So there you have it my morning routine and I'm usually done by 8

Workout everyday

Lift Weights- 1hour and a half

Running- 45 min -60 min

Jump roping- 40 min

Basketball- 3 hours at least

man...what happened to conditioning without supplements?

you kno the old fashioned way?

It's a matter of survival. If I wasnt playing football, I wouldn't use supplements. But, the fact is, everyone is trying to get that extra edge. I really don't want to literally get killed on the football field. It's all a matter of survival, friend.

And, for people who think that people shouldn't take glutamine, creatine, protein supplements, etc....I'll say this: I'd rather be in super shape, working out, running, and taking supplements that may possibly hurt your kidneys, than be a 40-year old fat, overweight guy who drinks coffee in the morning, and beer at night.

or you could just get in shape the natural ways....

eat a fairly healthy diet and workout using your own natural muscles.

yes its all about getting an edge....its also about doing things the 'easier' way.

I don't use anything, I just drink a lot of water, lots of fruits and vegetables and of course I do eat some junk food but I do eat fairly healthy.

I eat s***ty....trust me I have a horrible diet but hell I'm still only 116lbs and pretty damn fit. I'm lean and trim yet I still eat what I want

soda is my weakness and i've been trying to quit for like every....

lol, supplements are the easy way? Yah, if u take creatine and work out lightly. But when you are in NCAA football training, I am working my a$$ off, and am far behind. I'll take SUPPLEMENTS (in addition to), to help me out. Glutamine helps me recover from hard workouts. I weigh a buck 50....I was the hardest worker on my high school football team, and am killing myself working for Furman. I can't gain weight. So, I supplement my diet.

I wouldn't use them if I weren't playing football.

I hardly call what NCAA athletes go thru "the easy way."

its more than just "getting in shape." I've been in shape my whole life (fast metabolism, played 3 sports and taekwondo since I was 6...taekwondo since i was 3)...it's about pushing your body to the limits.

Furman, what you play? DB, WR? I played 1 year of football in Highschool at WR. Football conditioning and training is crazy compared to other sports... I thought cross country had it worse, but no way.

I agree about the supplements too. If youre at the level of NCAA, you gotta do whatever to get the better edge.. football's a tough sport to train for too.. I've heard that the 12 week boot camp in the marines is easier lol

Wide Receiver....(well I try haha)

Believe me, when we sit out there at practice in the fall or spring, we can look down the hill and see the cross country team, and the track teams running. That's no piece of cake either. Yall run....and run, and run. I couldn't stand it. I've got 2 friends that were on the cross country team last year. Incredible shape. You've gotta be a special mold for that. You gotta love to run. That sure aint me. Thats some tough sh*t.

I just stick with Whey Protein, Creatine, and for after workouts, L-Glutamine and Gatorload.

I just found out Whey protein is Bull sperm. Yes, you're drinking Bull nut.

its only like 17 g of protein per shake I think with whey protein. Might as well just take 2 egg whites for that or a glass of skim milk. Beans have high fiber as well hardly any fat cals and 7-8 gs of protein per serving. Beans might be a better way to go than bull sperm man...

lol yeap everybody, furmangator chugs bull cum.

you dont wanna end up like maddonna.
