Marlins play:

Pirates in Pittsburgh for 3 games.

Expos in Miami for 4 games.

Phillies play:

Expos in Montreal for 4 games.

Mets in New York for 3 games.

WE MUST GAIN THE LEAD THIS WEEK!

If Montreal and the Phillies can split the series and if we can sweep the Pirates, we gain the lead there. We must sweep the Pirates, get back home and split with Montreal and expect the Phillies to play 3-4. If so we can be in the lead.

Marlins go 5-2, Phillies go 3-4 and for the NL West/Central WC clubs to lose or play .500 ball. We must either win tomorrow and/or have Philadelphia lose for this to work. But this is baseball and anything can happen.

We have been very lucky. We are almost out of the woods. We always fall apart out west, unlike in previous years, this year the roadtrip was in the second half. Even if we lose 6 in a row, the most we will be out is 2.5 games. That is not bad knowing we are headed to Pittsburgh, have an off day and have 6 games left vs. Philly. The Phillies being swept by the Brewers was what saved our season for the time being.

Coors = Slump for our team and we usually lose enough ground that we are out of it. But this time, the timing and play of the other teams have kept us in contention. We have a good cahnce. we went 5 out of 6 last season vs. Pitt. 2 out of 3 at PNC Park.

We got the Pirates next series if we dont win the series against them we are in bad trouble. The Expos have gone down and we should win at least 1 or 2 games there. We need these wins!

If there's any good that's come from this road trip, it's the fact that the Marlins are learning not to underestimate people. Any team will beat some one that underestimates them. When we play the Pirates we just have to think of them as if we were playing the Yankees. There is a difference between confidence and underestimating. That was a big part of the Angels run last year. Everybody kept predicting they'd lose the next series, and before you know it --Bam-- they had made a fool of all those underestimaters! If we say "Hahaha! Pittsburgh $ucks! They are NOTHING" we will end up swept by them. But if we say "C'mon, we can do this!" We might find ourselves winning again.

That's why I think the next series with Philly might be a little tougher. They aren't going to be underestimating us, but I still believe we can beat them and win the wild card!

Go Marlins!

If we say "Hahaha! Pittsburgh $ucks! They are NOTHING" we will end up swept by them. But if we say "C'mon, we can do this!" We might find ourselves winning again.

So if we,the people at the MarlinsBaseball forums say that the Pirates series will be difficult. Then the Marlins will win? :mischief2

No,but on the serious side I don't think The Marlins underestimated the Giants nor the Rockies(Due to their unbelievable sucsess at Coors Field.)

No,but on the serious side I don't think The Marlins underestimated the Giants nor the Rockies(Due to their unbelievable sucsess at Coors Field.) First of all, by we I mean our team...I think you know that. And I think that the Fish underestimated the Rox. I certainly know that I underestimated them, especially after being swept by the Mets! The Fish probably weren't unerestimating the Giantd, especially after the Coors disaster. The only problem was, they overestimated Chad Fox!

The Marlins didn't underestimate anyone.

We had been doing bad since the Dodgers series. we struggled to sweep the pads and got run over by the rox and giants. This always happens to the Marlins.

Thankfully we are now going to come back to the NL East, but we must not let our guard down with the bucs, expos, mets, phillies, and braves. these five teams will be between us and the wildcard. all are equally as good because every game starts at 0-0 and every team is of the major league quality.

we do NOT have to be in the lead....

just hang around....

Agreed...

In these next series I wouldn't mind being 1-2 games out. The Marlins just can't let anyone else get ahead them in the race. We just need to stay at least within 2 games.

It would be great If we could take the lead though.

To hang around we need to play 4-3 baseball over this week...Ramp, let's aim high, shall we.

aim high? fine...

but you are high, when you say we MUST be in the lead by week's end

I ain't high, is it too much to ask that we jump to a tie or game above Philly? We are only 1.5 behind at the most 3 by Monday at worst case scenario.

i see Marlins Sweep Pirates

Marlins 3 out of 4 against the Spo's

Phillies Split with the Spo's

Phillies get Swept by Mets.

come on now...

you guys have to take an unbias opinion in at least some of your posts on this board..

marlins have lost 5 in a row and the phillies are 1.5 up on them and now, "the marlins MUST be in the lead" and the phils are being predicted to be swept by the mets while the fish sweep the pirates?

not to bust any of your balls, but you don't just win games...you're in the midst of a 5 game losing streak. You could verywell lose your next 7, just as we could very well win our next 7, or vice versa.

you play the pirates and expos, we play the mets and pirates

the mets are just as bad as the pirates and we both play the expos, so where do the marlins have the advantage where they go 6-1 and we go 2-5??

 :banghead

I don't see the Mets sweeping anybody anytime soon.

I don't see the Mets sweeping anybody anytime soon. Especially with Cliff Floyd out for the rest of the year. They are playing some good ball but let's not get carried away and say they will sweep the Phillies.

Didn't the Mets sweep the Rox lately, or did they take 3 out of 4?

The Rox aren't the Phillies. Especially away from Coors.

I'm not saying they are, I was just asking the question.
