I think we need to keep LoDuca...

The FO already let go of 1 talented catcher, I hope they wouldn't make the same decision with his replacement...

btw I wouldn't mind having Pratt play for us....he lives in west palm(near wellington).

Yep, with Alex Gonzalez although I don't remember exactly when it was. I remember Pavano involved in a serious take-down. :D

Then, what would you propose as equal or acceptable compensation from LA for LoDuca?

Who says we have to trade him to LA?

Only because I think the most value for LoDuca would come (if there were a trade) from LA (for the reasons outlined in the thread-starting post - McCourt burying the past under DePodesta).

As for Navarro's skillset, I might remind some here the kid, and he is a kid, is 21 years old, and in almost every account, says he's an intelligent, hard-working player who will only get better with time. I'm surprised how quickly some are to discount his upside, especially in light of personal issues he's faced in the last year or two. Yes, he's having trouble throwing out runners, but who among us was perfect at 21?

Think we should get more? Suggestions welcome.

Any chances of Lo Duca coming to the Bronx?

If so, what would the Marlins and their fans want in return?

Looks like he will be traded, so might as well trade him to the American League.

I think he would be perfect here. He is very versatile (can play 1st and the corner outfield spots), he can catch half of the time and give Jorge a rest, he can play 1st to spell Giambi a day or so (that would be Phillips' job though), the outfield to spell Sheff a day (likely would go to Crosby though). He could be very vital in a game where multiple players get hurt or a really long extra innings game.

What do you guys think? Any chance of him coming here?

lol why would the fish ever want to trade anyone to the yanks, they have no farm system and their bench players r getting paid more than our star player.

Trading him to Arizona would allow him to return to where he made his mark at Arizona State. (When I met his father, he had a ASU jacket on.)

Arizona is the best fit for LoDuca as I see it. The Diamondbacks have reportedly been showing some interest in him. He lives there in the offseason. His family lives there (his dad owns a bar somewhere in Phoenix I believe).

If the D-Backs don't sign a free agent catcher (Hernandez or Molina) then our best bet would be to try working something out with them. It would be fantastic if we could pry away some of their superfluous middle-infield and catching talent.

Hugg, why in the world would you want to trade LoDuca for a no-hit catcher and a equally iffy-hitting SS? It's not always about D.

Delgado or no Delgado, LoDuca or no LoDuca, the Marlins still need to score runs.

The Diamondbacks could help us up the middle with their surplus of affordable infielders (thus giving Ramirez another year to mature). It's important that we be able to at least field a competitive, if not winning team next season, and not to be disrespectful, just stockpiling more minor league talent and a catcher doesn't accomplish anything.

But again, that's just my opinion.

I didn't realize how much Santos struggled in AAA this season. He's supposed to have big time hitting potential, he's not even that good defensively (probably due to being 6-2, 240), he's probably going to move to the OF. He is said to have the best bat speed in their system, which is impressive when you consider he was being compared to Jackson, Quentin, Drew at the time.

And Snyder had a bad season, he'll be fine. He's .276/.365/.472 career in the minors, he'll get his bat going, probably this season. He has a good eye, his OBP was almost 100 points higher than his awful batting average this past season. He's 24 and he's highly regarded, I'm not writing him off because of 350 AB.

That said, after seeing Santos 2005 performance, I wouldn't make the deal anyway.

And as for "stockpiling more minor league talent" I don't see any reason to expect we'd do anything else. No one is going to give us 23-24 year olds with impressive big league numbers already for any of the guys we have left to trade. We're going to be getting unproven talent, of that I have no doubt.

Who is their surplus middle infield talent? They have Andy Green, Alex Cintron, and Craig Counsell in the middle. They moved Scott Hairston to the OF because he was awful at 2B. I see no reason to waste ABs on Craig Counsell. Andy Green is 28 and hasn't hit in either of his big league stints. I'd take Cintron though, I guess. Our corner spots are filled. I don't know why we'd trade them for what would be bench talent as opposed to prospects.

Its not called being a Troll. Its called asking what you guys think of it.

Our farm system really isnt as bad as it is made out to be. Our lower lever affiliates win their respective league's championshi s lot. I dont know exactly how many, but at least 2 won it this year. The SI Yanks, and the GCL Yanks. The Tampa Yanks might have as well.

We have plenty of young talent to give, and while I am against trading away the prospects, one or 2 guys wouldnt hurt.

Bronson Sardinha (sp) (Outfielder, played pretty good int he AFL this year)

Tyler Clippard (good young pitcher)

Kevin Thompson (Projected to be a good CFer, but Yanks are likely going to keep Melky Cabrera over Thompson)

Kevin Reese (good OF with some pop. Still needs some experience)

What do you think aboutthe combination of two of the above listed and some $$$. We know how bad the Marlins could use some $$$.

Also, if you want, I would have no problem giving up Tony Womack, you could use him for 2nd if you trade Castillo. We would likely pay his salary too.

Tell me what you think

You might try reading up on what your own GM Brian Cashman says is his plan for the Yankees, which is to invest in their minor league system and start bringing along more talent from within.

In other words, not raiding the prospect pool to make trades.

Well....if Penny is not hurt or out of shape these days....how about bringing him back in return for LoDuca. It would make some here who have a man-crush on the anti-semitic child abusing pitcher very happy. He is a good pitcher, even though he does have some character issues.

It's no joke. The child abusing part goes back to what was reported in the infamous "milk" incident. The other part goes back to meeting him personally on many occassions.

I've never heard him called anti-semitic. What on earth did he say to you to make you think that?
