November 30, 200520 yr so I'm checking out espn.com and see in the headlines about a fan site that is trying to keep Manny Ramirez in Boston. The site isKeepManny.com. Now the first thing that comes to my mind is making an "official site" where all of us including the GeoCities people with save the marlin sites contribute and run. It would be good to have instead of the generic tag.... which made me think that if a stupid site like keepmanny.com can make front page news, why couldn't we? Now yes, I know that it's manny and that its boston and that people would like to read about manny instead the marlins...but why not give it a shot? so then I'm looking to register something, but it appears it's been taken. savethemarlins.com;.net;.org keepthemarlins.com keepthemarlins.org is available, so I was thinking about that instead. any other ideas let me know.
November 30, 200520 yr hey fo for it guys. im up for it . Ill support u guys 200%. just update it on the website to go on that site when ur done. hey fo for it guys. im up for it . Ill support u guys 200%. just update it on the website to go on that site when ur done.

November 30, 200520 yr Just registered savethefloridamarlins.com, .org and .net. We'll probably put those to good use.
November 30, 200520 yr Author good job! btw, you can probably point them to the geocities site immedietly. also if we all have similar names, we can all point them to the same site which I will do with mine. I will also plug it on my MLBlog site which gets some heavy traffic along with great search result positioning on google.
November 30, 200520 yr I just registered NoRelocation.com. Also, I own marlinsrule.net which I no longer update so I can point that to the site as well.
November 30, 200520 yr Nothing will be done. Don't waste money with the domains. It would take thousands of people to force the state's hand. We don't have that man power, and South Florida fans have made it abundantly clear (by lack of attendance) that they just don't care. If anything happens, it will be by the state or Huizenga's own volition. It's as simple as that.
November 30, 200520 yr You miss 100% of the shots you don't take. And if we fail, we would go down trying. Better than sitting on your ass and watching a chunk of your life leave with the passing wind.

November 30, 200520 yr You miss 100% of the shots you don't take. And if we fail, we would go down trying. Better than sitting on your ass and watching a chunk of your life leave with the passing wind. Hey, I'm all for hope and faith...Just not false hope. There are a ton of kids on mb.com that will have their hearts broken, because you make it seem like this plan will work. It won't. There is a very small possibility of anyone even caring about our plight. I'm a HUGE Marlin's fan, but realistically I know that the future of this team lay in the hands of the politicians and ownership. We play a very very very little part. Again, I don't disagree with your tactics--I love the support, really. But the level of optomism is way too high--you are making people believe that this will work, when in reality there is only a slim chance.
November 30, 200520 yr I guess that's why history never writes about pessimists and realists, because they don't ever make a difference. What are people supposed to do, go in thinking it's going to fail? That's a real sound plan - ever take psychology? I refuse to let this plan of action be a self-fulfilling prophecy with everyone spewing doom and gloom whenever an idea is presented and liked by a few. If you want to stand idlely by and take your chances with the state or Wayne caring, two parties that have never shown they've g.a.f before, then feel free. Make sure to say a prayer every night because it's going to take a few with those two parties involved. If FireRonZook.com, SaveManny.com, or even the Expos fan site that tried to collect sufficient funds to buy the team can make national news several times each, then you better believe a grassroots effort done the correct way through an entire community will get people's attention. What many fail to realize is that this is not a town that dislikes baseball, on the contrary everyone subconsciously knows this is a baseball city. That's why the bar was set so high, that's why such quick changes are demanded of Miami even though the team has been here just 13 years. And this baseball city won't let its baseball team get away. All it needs is a little push and a little leadership, and we aim to provide both. Don't want to help, fine. But don't stand in the way.
November 30, 200520 yr You guys can count me in with whatever you need, willing to donate time, money, etc.
December 1, 200520 yr Author lefty, as far as kids go....I remember when I was 15, 16 I wasn't this gullible person that went on everybody elses word about something! Everyone on here has a mind of their own and can decide if this will work or not. If no one protested about things they feel were wrong in this country, the government would never know the people wanted a change. And yes it does matter because come election time, a candidate could lose because he didn't know to make a change. If enough people come forward and the government in Miami refuse to change....do you think that we would vote for them again? And for those not old enough yet, they can talk to their parents about the way they feel and try to sway their vote away from a certain politician. So there is no such thing as false hope and to say such a thing is just juvenile.
December 1, 200520 yr I am willing and able to help in any way I can, principally through the donation of cash.

God forbid.

Forgive me for being the lone word of dissent amonst the dozens of optomistic posts.
