for the love of god! SELL THE TEAM LORIA!!!

Featured Replies

Please Jeff overlook your hate for Arriola and sell the team.

If you truly love the baseball fans here in south florida as you said you did, (The season ticket holders who have invested in you), please sell the team.

I along with with many many marlins fans will be forever greatful for that magical season in 03 that I will always treasure but THIS IS KILLING THE FANS WHO LOVE THE TEAM THE MOST!!!!!!!

IF you walk away now, you will barely excape the hatred but will still be more higly regarded than wayne huizenga. Yo carry on with this and you will be the most reviled sports figure in the history of Florida and you will deserve it.

No-one expects you to carry on losing money and I repect that but please for our sakes, let us cling to the desparate hope of keeping our beloved Marlins here by seelling them to a local I beg you!

great great post, this is what needs to be done and i hope Loria looks in the mirror and see's the same.....

Mr.Loria you have a chance to save this franchise twice.......

THERE IS NO EXCUSE, LORIA!

YOU DO THE SAME THING IN MONTREAL AND IT IN INEXCUSABLE. I HOPE YOU SELL THE TEAM SO THEY CAN STAY IN SOUTH FLORIDA, AND FURTHERMORE I HOPE YOU ARE NOT INVITED TO BUY ANOTHER TEAM AND SCREW THEM OVER.

AGAIN, THERE IS NO EXCUSE FOR THIS. I HAVE A VERY GOOD FEELING THAT THE MARLINS COULD HAVE DROPPED PIERRE AND MAYBE 1 OR 2 SMALL GUYS AND DONE OK. THERE IS NO REASON FOR A FIRESALE, ESPICALLY IF YOU HAVE A HISTORY OF SCREWING OVER TEAMS.

THANK YOU,

Marlinsfan613

There is no comparisions you can make to Loria's actions in Montreal. Montreal was not a major league city and had not been once since the destruction practices of the previous ownership group who despite their local backgrounds twice tried to sell the team to DC investors, lost their shares when they refused to help support the team and as minority owners have made things difficult for the Marlins to take steps towards resolving the issues surrounding a prospective new stadium.

Who knows maybe Loria is pushing this to the brink to drive up the price for the marlins , maybe a local who wants to buy the team will have to put out a 100 million more. My guess is he wont sell it and will continue to follow his precedent of gutting and moving mlb teams and making money by the boat load it the process.

Did everyone forget that for the last 3 years the Marlins have had their most competetive strech run. It was the City/State's turn to step up and do something for the team and the city balked. Now (after 3 years) of trying to convince people that he wants to win in SouthFLa people are ripping him and bblaming HIM for all the problems. It's laughable how ignorant people are around here in and Miami in general I guess, cause there are a lot of people thinknig like this.

Who in their right mind would want to own this team?!?! Unless they have a deal with Arriola that he supports their bid, even then you never know when that man will back out of a deal. He's done in countless times to Loria and the Marlins just over the past two years.

Oh, wait, I forget, when it comes to the stadium game, local politicians are above reproach. Even if their interests lie only in taking bribes and making money for friends.

Why are the Fans in Florida so fickle? So what if there is a fire sale...SO effing WHAT! If you were truly a baseball fan and if SouthFLA was truly a baseball town then the FANS would step up NOW more than ever and support the team. Show the politicians and MLB what they are missing out on. Support the Marlins no matter how bad you think they are!. But there is no effing way SouthFLA fans are going to do that (and I don't mean you guys) . Bottom line is without a winner fans just don;t go to games in SouthFLA... I mean c'mon.... 60k+ show up for the Marlins when they are in the playoffs or WS and yea I know the problems the team has are more than just fan support. But if the people of SouthFLA truly wanted to keep their team here simply showing up might actually do just that!!

No instead you're going to bitch and moan about the owner or about the city... Boycotting the team is not the answer!

Please tell me what the answer is when we ARE THE VERY PEOPLE ALREADY SHOWING UP!

We do need to collectively do something to show that we still want the team and to show our distaste at MLB and the city to allow this travesty to happen yet again! Maybe Alex Penelas(who also depserately needs to raise his visibility) can grandstand on the issue and rally people to some form of protest. We need a public figure to help whoever that is I don't care who it is as long as they can help us keep our baseball team in some way.

There is no answer, as I said the SouthFLA fans will once again boycott the team, we will probably have the lowest attendance in the league next season and I know you guys are not the problem. But the bottom line is people are blaming the owner and effetively blaming the Marlins (by not showing up) for what has happened. In my opinion Loria has done everything he can to get a new stadium for the Marlins. HE put up the majority of the money but the state, city, or whoever did not step up. It's a travesty to us who love this team. But the bottom line is a professional baseball team needs it's own stadium and needs the revenue and fan appeal that it brings to survive. I for one will continue to support them wehre ever they move to.

is there any particular reason that another owner wouldn't be in the same situation? you can only lose money for so long. Even guys with deep pockets have limits when they don't have enough revenue coming back.

There is a prospective person who wants to buy the team and is real tight with the City of Miami government. His name is Armando Codina and that is who the City (Manny Diaz and company) want Loria to sell the team too. But Samson has come out and said that the team will not be sold. Codina wants the team and would get a stadium done cause of all the favors he has done in the past for the local politicians. He is the Marlins only chance at staying down here

That's great... so lets give it to the dirty politicians friend... yea that will make the future of this franchise much better.

There's a word for this in English: "blackmail"

In Miamian, the word translates to "business as usual."

lol....my sentiments exactly

If there's only one man who would even be willing and able to buy the club without inheriting the same headaches Loria and Henry had to, why would Loria sell? He's not going to get anything for the team. He might as well exhaust all his options to find another way, while doing what he likes and that is own a MLB team.

how can people on one hand say that loria knew what he was getting into and on the second hand say that he should sell the team

wouldn't the new buyer also know what he was getting into (bad attendance, bad stadium, bad lease, bad political support) and wouldn't the new owner be a dope to walk into such a situation

or is the answer to cave to the corrupt politicians and back room deals that would grease the pockets of all the people blocking the success of this team

what has loria done in FLORDIA to put him in a position where he deserves to be bullied by corrupt politicans into selling his team to one of their friends so their friends can receive the benefits and reward for him investing his money and building a winning franchise?!

What bothers me is that we havent acctually heard from Loria himself,

we keep hearing from Mr. "screw everybody" Samson, who just keeps making it worse every time he opens his mouth. Im wondering if Samson shoved im in the basement, did you realize we haven't heard from him since Mckeon's retirement? :mischief2

And where is Beinfest??? Where has he been during the clearance sale? Not a beep from anyone other than Samson.

I wouldnt be surprised if he tied them both up and is holding them hostage while he dismantels the team.

Loria is in Europe right? Sure he is!!! :thumbup

I dont know, but it smells pretty fishy to me... :whistle

A local owner with deep pockets would have gotten the stadium deal complete. Face it, Loria and Samson are "carpetbaggers." They're not from So. Florida. They have no pull. No one knows them. Get the team a local owner and all of a sudden you'll see the stadium completed. I'm sorry, but that's just how things work.

You mean like John Henry?

Considering the money the county and city have been willing to pledge, yes.
