Burnett going to Toronto

Seems this may be premature, looks like they're going back to the Cardinals for one last try:

ESPN's Peter Gammons says A.J. Burnett will likely go to the Blue Jays for five years and $55 million.

Reportedly, Burnett's agent wants to talk with the Cardinals one more time.

Per Boston Gammons on ESPNEWS just now.

Good, keep him out of the NL Central.

Keep him out of the NL?

More like: GOOD... keep him out of the country.

It'll be a nice Christmas for the Burnett family.

The money will sure as hell be nice, but realizing they have to move to Toronto will put a small damper on everything.

Toronto is a big city no different than New York, LA, Boston, Detroit, etc. and he's getting paid $55 million dollars to do it.... there won't be any damper hanging over the Burnett family.

It may not be over yet..

Errrr. KFNS (AM 590 STL) says that the Cardinals brass is having a meeting right now in Dallas at the hotel and that some Toronto station talked to a team official and he said "Dont expect an announcement anytime tonight" .. But of course they'll say that.. Peter Gammons is saying we may not know anything for ANOTHER 24 HOURS and he said the Cards offered 4 years, 48 mil? That cant be right.... Just wish it would end..

He's moving to Canada. Enough said.

Well we get atleast a first round pick so its not to bad.

Not if he goes to Toronto.

Why does it matter where he goes?

If the team's pick projects in the top 15, it's a protected pick meaning we get their second round pick and a upplemental. Also, with Toronto already having signed BJ Ryan, Baltimore lost a (I believe) higher ranking type-a free agent, meaning they get the second rounder leaving us with a third rounder.

So, we really don't want him going to Toronto.
