UN's hatred for Israel continues

Featured Replies

Also, how do you reconcile the UN wanting Israel "off the map" but at the same time saying that Israel should live in harmony with Palestine and that Israel has a strong interest in its safety? And what leads you to conclude, based on that map, that the UN wants to eradicate Israel?

India uses the Red Cross. They don't have their own symbol.

Once they entered the red cross/red crecent society, they had to adopt the red cross and red crecent despite the fact that they wanted their symbol via their religion-or at least proposed to have another symbol added like other religions did. It never happend and they didnt complain of religious intolerance. Why cant Israel adopt the red cross/red cresent the way India had to?

Because to Judaism, THOSE ARE PAGAN SYMBOLS!!! COMMANDMENT THE THIRD, THOU SHALT NOT BOW DOWN TO FALSE IDOLS!!!!

but they are not being worshipped when in the context of the Red Cross.

But they are still idols nonetheless.

so when used on a flag they are considered idols? Cant you technically view the Star of David also an idol? Are we going to stretch things that far now? Come on now, shouldnt we use common sense and logic here?

The Magen David has never been used as an object of worship. The cross has. Also, under your theory, the Red Lion and Sun of Iran should also be stricken down, even though it was welcome into the IRCRC and technically still is.

ya and again we arent exactly talking about worshipping a cross here, we are talking about an international symbol for a relief organization, pray tell me when this has been used as a worship symbol, and please dont feed me info about the generic cross itself.

thanks in advance.

You know, I hear you talking, but the only words I hear coming out of your mouth are, "These Jewboys just don't get it."

and i'm waiting for some real compelling argument other than something that has numerous holes and flaws within it.

Im assuming you would also agree that, since Clinton shouldnt run the UN after the 1998 Ritter incedent, Bush shouldnt be running the United States after going to war with baseless justification.

Based on this information [along with about 50 other reasons], I would agree that Bush shouldn't run the UN either. I made no qualified statement regarding either Clinton or Bush as President of the United States.

My qualified statement regarding these men is that one gave the US a black eye on the left and the other gave the US a black eye on the right. :mischief

Given my education in US-Middle Eastern affairs [from WWI to 9/11] and my fundamental tendency to lean towards Libertarianism, I have a hard time understanding how Israel was allowed to be created in the first place. To be fair - I am not a religious person so some of this is certainly beyond my comprehension.

Fair enough. Sorry I assumed your political views prematurely.

You both do realize that to Hindu's the symbol that Israel wanted to put up would of been "pagan symbol" as well. Just like the cross and Crescent would be there. Though as a catholic I can say that the cross is not a object of worship. Last I checked we followed the same 10 commandments.

Last I checked also if a country didnt wish to join the red cross/crecent they were not forced to. It was their choice. But, I believe the private organization should decide for themselves.

Ya but I never said it wasnt a pagan symbol...I only asked why it was so offensive to Jews.

It also means he's being played like a fiddle.

i love how the israelis who claim innocence are the ones who made the situtation probably as bad as it is now, by going in and taking over all of jerusalem.

but they are the holy land so all they do is right

:plain

Oh, so now it's OUR fault. My chin. For one thing, if you look at that partition map, you could see that Jerusalem would have been an ENCLAVE! Obviously the Haganah had to go in to protect their brethren. Meanwhile the Jordanians ransacked everything Jewish they could find in the Old City, including the tombstones being turned into latrines. So you want to play that game? You'll lose every time.

ya jersualem was supposed to be controlled by the UN and not Israel or Palestine. But the Israeli government decided it was their 'right' to go in and take over Jerualem.

Have a nice day.

They didn't. It never started out as planned. Israel got the new city, Jordan got the Old City. As long as it wasn't UN controlled, yes, then Israel felt they had the right to go in and take over Jerusalem, the only holy city for the Jewish people.

and that has been the cause of so many problems since then...hence Israel has nobody to blame but themselves.

There were problems long before 1967.

I forgot. Israel is innocent all the time. My mistake.

I forgot. The Arabs are innocent all the time. My mistake.

Hey, see what I did there? I changed the subject. Don't change the subject because you can't answer to what I said. I never said Israel held no responsibility to it, but the Israeli recapture of the Old City didn't START anything. Did it inflame it? Sure. But the day Israel was formed every Middle Eastern country attacked it. There have always been riots and the sort, even before 1967.

well we are still waiting on the answer for why the cross and cresent are such unholy symbols that just bring about sorrow and anger every time they are seen...

ya i know the israeli recapture of Jerusalem didnt START anything genius. I blame the UN for not having the gall to actually keep Jerusalem hands off like it should have been to start with and I hope they ultimately grow a set of testicles on this matter and do the right thing and take it back and keep it in non religious hands, you know cause its a very important holy city for 3 major religions.

I mean ya, Jerusalem probably has the most significane for Jews...so? Its the same with Christianity and Islam as their roots are actually in Judaism.

Now go back and answer the question posed to yall a couple of days ago and I'll start directly answering your damn indirect questions.

I have no problem with a cross or a crescent. I do have a problem with the Red Cross/Red Crescent never allowing the Magen Dovid Adom (Red Star of David) into the organization, but that's been taken care of now, hopefully. Obviously the cross and crescent are holy symbols.

Yes, the city should be open to all three religions. Guess what? It is. Under Israeli rule no Arab has ever been denied the right to pray at or go to the Al Aqsa Mosque or Dome of the Rock, even though under Jordanian rule the Jews were prohibited from going to the Western Wall.

And what's the question you posed?

If the city was supposed to be divided and within international control upon the plans for the original pact that was made to bring it into Existance since the times of long past. Why not simply do that? Make Jerusalem return to International control. Place UN Headquarters there too so it can police and protect the city. Freedom to all faiths to go there and worthship as they will. It would remove the major problem and issue that has ruined 90% of peace talks.

If both sides continue to bomb each other eventually you will see them end up destroying themselves and the city they both proclaim as theirs to love.

ya i know. i had actually forgotten when i said it should be turned into a true international city that it was originally intended to be a city controlled by nobody but the UN, with no national interests within the borders.

you are right. if they keep it up, Jerusalem will be no more.

Because the individuals in question are fighting one another for wht they believe and a belief is a powerful thing. Hence the symbol a crescent, the symbol that stands for their enemies (general use) worship, sorta makes them feel inferior? I really dont know or understand it. Personally I think help coming from the red cross would be seen a good thing often more then a bad one. But, I grew up in different situations in the US and I have a different outlook then the individuals over there. I grew up with best friends in all different religions and races. South florida is very kewl like that, it more then anywhere you can find folks caring less for things of difference of race or religion then anywhere else in the world I think.
