Teal Shadow
Look in the mirror are you Marlins fans?...baseball fans? in every team sports tough times occur with every sports fan favorite teams. Ya it s*cks to be a Marlins fan right, your at the bottom of ladder, and everybody is to blame. Everybody is laughing at us. So are going to jump ship? Look I understand the frustration with ownership, but is a deep pocket owner the key to all our money problems? Is Loria the problem? We had 3 owners in the last 8yrs, and the last two with deeper pockets than this one. What happen to them? they jump ship on us. Look I'm not saying everything Loria is saying is the truth, but I know for a fact there are people out there in media and political circles who want the Marlins to leave town...fail.They have made it near impossible to make a deal happen. Right now I have to be a true fan and take Loria word that his tried to make this happen. Are there certain things he's done wrong? YES(ie.. Samson) but what are our options as fans? Well go out and support the team...yeah the name on the front. Because if we don't show up everybody( Loria, politicians, MLB) will have reason to take our Marlins away....that's a fact. I've heard those talkin heads who by the way are loving this, talk about the Marlins going nowhere, that this Marlins ownership trying to bully a stadium out of us....Ok if thats the mindset the team is as good as gone. And then what? wait on another team? Ok 20yrs..30yrs? who then will flip the bill for the stadium? someone will take entire cost. Bottomline is NOBODY here wants the Marlins to leave as piss off as we are, we want baseball to stay. So as much as it hurts you to go to the ballpark this season its a must, just think about why your going.

I wouldn't go so far as to call it a 'certainty,' and if they do end up moving, it'll be drawn out over a lot more than 2 years. No matter how it ends, this is a mess in the making unless the Marlins, MLB and the City of Miami come to their senses and get together on something. I really think they want to leave this city, after the poor attendance showing and nasty local and state politics that have derailed stadium funding time and time again. Look, I didn't say it looked good, but calling them certainly gone is a bit premature, that's it. I'm not going to argue one way or another because it's pretty evident that the whole off-field management of this team is so ass-backwards that to suggest you know what they're doing is erroneous because I seriously doubt they look more than three months into the future...so when they don't even know what they're doing, how can we argue for or against them? I guess what I'm saying is that it's 50/50 (at worst) that they leave. While that isn't great that such a shadow of uncertainty is hanging over the franchise, it is a lot better than I think you could hope for a franchise in our situation. Given the mess that the Nationals situation proved, relocation is not easy, especially when the #1 relocation market ran into such problems...how are the runners up going to prove to be an easy fit? That's all I'm saying, it's a bad situation, but not as bad as it could be...and we owe a lot of that to the Nationals.
FutureGM
I think that in the end, either the Marlins will move to Vegas or be contracted. No other city can support a Major-League franchise. San Antonio would work, but it's far too close to other franchises in both Houston and Arlington, TX.

PBMarlin
I'm going to go the games next year and just enjoy watching baseball. I'll cheer for the Marlins for as long as they are here.....and enjoy it. If the Marlins leave, then I will root for another team.....and I will enjoy that as well. The game of baseball is bigger than Samson, Arriola, Loria, Huizenga, Selig, Lee and all the other characters who have failed to make this franchise financially viable. I hope this situation is resolved and the Marlins stay. But if they end up leaving, then so be it.

NewRaysFan
I will only support the Marlins if they are staying in South Florida, otherwise I am a new Rays fan. Ownership is, without a doubt, the problem with the Marlins. There is a solid Marlins fan base, but continued poor leadership, firesales and threats of leaving town is chipping away at that base. I will follow the team on TV and in the papers, but I'm not going to AAA baseball when I can see a much better team just 3 1/2 hours away. The Marlin's fans deserve better, a new owner with the funds and "know how" to get a stadium deal done is what this team needs. Loria, Samson and the rest don't have what it takes to own a MLB team, that is unquestioned and I'm not going to be the fan that just supports laundry regardless of what they throw out there. Blind loyalty only carries a fan so long, once you actually see the worse team in MLB play a few times you'll understand that Loria and Samson suck! If you combine the rise in attendance since '02 with the great TV ratings you too would see that the Marlin's fan base was growing. IF ownership thought all the fans from '93 were coming back overnight then they are clueless and we don't need them here. South Florida is prime for MLB, Strong ownership and a stadium would be a step in the right direction. To cut your losses now, have a fire sale and threaten to leave town was the actions of a owner without the financial strength needed to own a team. I say that I'm not going to any games now, but I'm a Marlin fan and I'll probably go to a game or two, but your casual fan is not going at all. '06 predictions: Marlins lose over 100 games Attendance is less than 12,000 per game Cabrera and Willis demand trade at sometime during the season. So as much as it hurts you to go to the ballpark this season its a must, just think about why your going. I love the Marlins and it will kill me if they move. I have no problem with the "firesale/mc" because i think Admin B did a great job and it would not surprise me if we flirted with .500. But don't get me to feel sorry for our poor owners. They knew what they were buying and that did not include a new stadium and it did include an awful lease, thanks to that putz John Henry. They say they have to run this like a business. Well pretend you bought a business. A business that you naturally did proper due dilligence on and bought after analyzing revenues, expenses, upside/downside, growth potential blah blah. IF you have been losing money every year (and no way these guys are losing 20+ mill a year) what would you do? Well most business would be closed because who would want to buy such a business. But what if you had a buyer who would pay you 20-80% more than you paid for it. You would sell and sell fast. I fell 100% certain that there would/will be multiple buyers who would give these guys $70-100 mill more than they paid. And this someone would understand #1 Exactly what he would be buying and #2 Be thrilled at the fact that an offer to chip in $125+ million towards a new stadium. Not to mention Huzienga's offer of free land (i'm sure some strings would be attached) Bottom line, you need a net worth of 800 million liquid to own a pro sports team nowadays, unless you bought one years back and duped the local municipality into building a shiny new stadium for you. Last point, i don't think its going to be as easy to move as many assume. Look how long it took Montreal. That seemed to drag out an extra 3-4 years. I want to get this done but it kills me the way we are being held hostage by our owners. And we can obviously be competitive with a lower payroll so don't tell me these guys are hemoraging money. Really like the site. Hopefully this rant doesn't get me banned.
