Tony Dungy's son found dead

Featured Replies

Just saw it on the ESPN bottomline. Found dead in his Lutz, Fla apartment. He was 18.

Wow. This is horrible. I cannot imagine how Tony Dungy feels right now.

RIP.

Here is the early version of the AP story

TAMPA, Fla. ? (AP) ? James Dungy, the 18-year-old son of

Indianapolis Colts coach Tony Dungy, was found dead in a

Tampa-area apartment, police said Thursday.

In a news release on its Web site, the Hillsborough County

Sheriffs Office said it ??responded to the Campus Lodge

Apartments this morning at approximately 1:32 a.m. The

girlfriend of James Dungy had returned to the apartment and

discovered Dungy.''

Police performed CPR on Dungy before he was taken to

University Community Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The cause of death is pending an autopsy by the Hillsborough

County Medical Examiner's Office.

Tony Dungy has left the Colts and is in Tampa, according

to NFL.com.

The coach and his wife, Lauren, have four other children:

daughters Tiara and Jade and sons Eric and Jordan.

The Colts (13-1) are at Seattle on Saturday.

I don't mean to sound like an inconsiderate ass or anything, but at least he has a few other children...not that it makes it any easier to handle even one death...

My condolences.

This is very shocking news and I feel awful for the Dungy family to lose a young son right in the midst of some success. I send all my best wishes and prayers with the Dungy family. God bless them. I do not think that Tony Dungy will be coaching on Sunday against Seattle.

uh...

why even bother saying something like that?

that was so irrelevant.

RIP but my question is was this a murder or a natural causes death?

i don't think it's possible to die of natural causes at the age of 18.

it could be suicide, it could be a drug/alcohol overdose, who knows.

Tragic news...a loss like this really puts the "loss" the Colts endured last week into perspective.

RIP...

:(

No it wasn't. I know parents with one child who has been killed, and they are left with nothing. Sorry for saying it, it's just my feelings! I said it doesn't make it easier, but thankfully he isn't left alone!!!!!!

/done, let's not sour the thread any further.

RIP

That's foolish. The death of a family member is the death of a family member.

I lost my dad when I was a teenager, because my mom was still alive, it didn't make it any easier.

Unexpected death of a loved one sucks, period.

Unfortunately, it happens. But yeah, it certainly isn't common. How very sad! Can't imagine there is anything in the world that could be worse for a parent.

No sh*t, ass. How many times do I have to say it doesn't make it easier? i said what I said, now stop souring the thread. Amazing, one man's opinion on a matter. I feel very badly for the Dungy family and I can't make it any more clearly. Leave it be. Jesus.

Don't get angry at me when you say something as uneducated as "at least he has a few other children."

Jeez. You're the ass here.

This thread is being ruined by stupid arguments. Saying "condolences" and then hating on someone is just plain stupid. Grow up.

I'm also interested in the circumstances under which he died. And I would also say, under these circumstances, that football comes secondary. If he doesn't want to be on the sideliness of Seattle, then hopefully he isn't.

It dont matter how many kids you have. You lose a loved one you cannot replace him or her. I dont want to insult you but that was the stupidest sh*t ive ever seen posted on here. What do you check your common sense at the door when you log on to this site?

Mr. Contradictive :lol

Anyway back on topic, I hope he doesn't rush back to the Colts. I'd say he has a good 2 weeks before he really needs to be there.

I don't think that has been determined....an autopsy was scheduled for later on Thursday or even Friday
