I didnt get to see the game, because I live in the anti Florida zone - Tallahassee. But I did get to watch the play by play on the computer. I saw Banks came through, but I want to know how did the teams react? What about the fans? I wonder if this win will help put us back on track...

Watch ESPNnews. It's on right now.

Johnny, Dish Network and DirecTV both carry FSN in all of Florida. If you can find a friend/bar or even get a dish for yourself you could see the games. No MLB Extra Innings, no MLB.tv

BTW, I couldn't see tonight's game because I don't get PAX and Fort Myers doesn't have a Marlins Television Network Affiliate.

Long Live MLB Internet Radio.

I couldn't see the game either because Cape Coral/Fort Myers area doesn't recieve PAX 67/35 aired Marlins games as CapeFish said. I do however get FSN games from DirecTV. You should join the online Email Campaign.

See sig.

Johnny,

You are old enough to find a sports bar in Tallahassee with a C-Band Dish (Big Ugly Dish) and they can tune in to MArlins games from FSN or Marlins Television Network.

Anybody with a C-Band dish can tune into Marlins/PAX games. The signal they use to send the game to PAX35/67/Cox is unscrambled and free to anyone who can get it. It is legal and commercial free for the most part.

The players went nuts! The fans were chanting "LETS GO MARLINS, LETS GO!" I was sitting on my couch with a couple of other Marlins fans and we all jumped up and yelled for joy! We thought it was a jack at first and then the ball went a few inches over the OF's glove and hit the base of the wall. Amazing stuff! :lol

i thought Vlad might catch that too, I would've killed someone!

whew, man they needed this win. who knows what'll happen tomorrow but that must've felt like a huge weight lifted off the team...

VERY BIG WIN. It was important for us to finally comeback from being down a few runs and win the game. From what I saw, attendance seemed pretty lousy there tonight. We need to get back on track now.

Are you sure that's true? At least in Maine, the channel for Fox Sports Net Florida is blacked out. It is a digital station at W1, 406 - are there other feeds that I might be able to watch? I do have the C-Band dish.

Thanks everyone for the pointers on how to see games. I wish I could afford a dish, and I cant go to the bars right now - because I have no money. But seeing that the Marlins are going to be playing the Braves 7 times this month, I will at least get to see those important games.

I am glad that the win seemed to reuvenate this team. It is a huge weight lifted and should help us get back on track. We just needed some momentum - I just hope the offense gets that swagger back. Castro should be at tonight's game too...which may help the players get back on concentrating on winning.

The last 2 or 3 series' the marlins have played against the braves. TBS hasn't broadcasted any of the games. :banghead I hope they broadcast a couple of the remaining games though. Monday's game against the expos is on espn 2.

According to Atlanta Braves.com, TBS broadcasts 3 of the remaining 7 games. The other 4 are on Turner South, and two of them are on Saturday, but they are at night so there isn't a possibility of Fox doing them.

Fox Sports Net is scrambled, I am talking about the Marlins Television Network (PAX) backhaul. I don't have a C-Band, but a neighbor does and he gets the games.

I use http://groups.yahoo.com/group/mlbontv/ for my listings. It is accurate and has the location and channel for the Marlins television network backhaul.

Poor Johnny. Who is the cableco in Seminole Dorms?

Thanks for the resource CapeFish!

Aren't C-Band dishes illegal in Canada? I heard a while ago that a campaign created by RCMP made it illegal to have any satellite systems other than: Bell ExpressVu or Star Choice, I think the Penalty is arrest, seizure of equpiment, and a 5,000$ fine for possession of the BIg Ugly Dish(Or any other system/dish for that matter).

How recent was that? A few years ago our C-Band provider was based out of Canada. 2 or 3 years ago they went bankrupt though.

I heard of the news in 99'. Your Canada C-Band provider was probably forced into bankruptcy from Canada's court decisions to ban the C-Band . Is your C-Band provider now located in Maine?

C-Band is legal in the United states and Mexico. C-Band is NOT legal anymore in Canada ( :mischief2 totalitarian liberal government came in arond 1999, maybe that has something to do with it?)

Sept 30th, 1999

Dear CBAC member,

In the summer of 1997, a Federal Court Judge ruling on a civil lawsuit against an importer of US Direct TV mini-dishes declared an"absolute prohibition"on any satellite services received in Canada unless approved by the CRTC. Canadian broadcasting and cable monopolies (licensed by the CRTC) quickly interpreted this as outlawing all satellite TV reception systems except Star Choice and ExpressVu.

As a result, C-Band satellite reception systems, (large dish), a valuable service to close to a half million households in Canada for the past fifteen years, could now be considered illegal!

The court case was based almost entirely on mini-dish circumstances, yet the ruling threatened to make more than one million Canadians, mostly in remote and rural areas of this country, quasi-criminals simply because they use a dish to pick up TV the urban dwellers receive on cable! Obviously, this ruling is flawed and should not be used as legal precedent to outlaw large C-Band dishes. However, the powerful CRTC-appointed monopolies have tried to use this ruling as an opportunity to wipe out C-Band and further their own interests, through a program of propaganda and misinformation.

These are the same monopolies that have consistently walked away from the satellite TV market, failing to make popular Canadian services readily-available to C-Band users while delaying the launch of their own satellite TV system because there wasn't a juicy enough profit opportunity.

In the face of such strong arm tactics, something had to be done, or we risked being bullied into oblivion.

The C-Band Alliance of Canada (CBAC), was formed to represent and communicate the rights and issues of the C-Band community. Founded by eight C-Band programming distributors, this not-for-profit organization seeks to clarify the legal issues surrounding C-Band satellite TV in Canada, and work to preserve this very valuable service. CBAC is not anti-Canadian mini-dish nor is it pro-American. Our organization stands simply to protect your rights as a C-Band user, and ensure you get the most out of your investment in your C-Band satellite TV system.

And have we ever touched a nerve!

In just eight months, CBAC has quickly grown into the largest satellite association ever, with almost all professional satellite dealers, distributors and over one thousand members, and more signing up every day! In addition to this direct support from our signed members, we expect to continue adding thousands more as their programming renews. You have clearly shown that it is time C-Band was accepted as a valuable and important part of the broadcasting system of this country.

There's strength in numbers.

The strength of our membership has gained CBAC national publicity on repeated occasions, airing your concerns in dozens of newspapers and on radio. Our lobby committee has been received by senior government officials and the RCMP, many of whom were completely unaware of our needs as C-Band users. We have an aggressive legal committee, busy in a number of areas including an initiative to determine once and for all the legal status of C-Band reception in Canada. Our public relations committee has coordinated several strong press releases and has assembled C-Band information pieces for use by dealers and consumers across Canada.

There's still more to be done!

Coming soon, we'll launch our new Web site (www.cbac.net) specifically designed to immediately communicate our message to those who need to know our concerns. Watch also for new informational pieces and more national press coverage. Don't hesitate to contact us with your ideas and feedback &endash; we appreciate your support!

In just eight short months, we have accomplished a great deal, and look forward to building on our momentum to make sure your needs and concerns are addressed well into the next millenium!

On behalf of the CBAC Board of Directors and C-Band users across Canada, I extend to you a very sincere thank you for your support.

Warm regards,

Rick Hodgkinson

Chairman

C Band Alliance of Canada

P.S. We will soon bring you regular monthly CBAC updates through Satellite Entertainment Guide, Canada's C-Band guide available by subscription and on newsstands everywhere. Watch for it!

I'm not sure where our provider is now, but it isn't Maine. I guess that decision probably killed off our old one. I'm surprised at how many subscribers there were in Canada - 500,000 is about as many as there are in the United States currently. It's a shame - there are a lot of great free feeds out there that allow a viewer to see syndicated shows before they air, and sports games/highlights that are being fed to local stations. One fun thing to do is to look for news feeds with on-site reporters preparing to go on the air. :)

Hey MarlinsFan46,

When did you get your big dish, how much did it cost, and how did you get it? Is it easy to use?

Well, the dish was here when we moved into our house in 1984 (I hadn't been born yet) because cable was not then available in our area. I don't know how much it cost, but due to the decline of C-Band subscribers some parts can be costly to replace. It is very easy to use, however. A couple years ago we upgraded to a 4DTV reciever that can get digital TV signals that expanded the number of channels we can get. According to the system, there are over 4,000 channels we can recieve, but most only show content at designated times.

Thanks for the info,

I'll stick with my Mini Dish from Dish Network. Now if only I could get those 55 Marlins games aired by PAX/Marlins TV Network :mischief2

Hey MarlinsFan46,

When did you get your big dish, how much did it cost, and how did you get it? Is it easy to use?

Well, my grandparents own a C-Band Dish 6. They purchased it from roxsatbiz.chainreactionweb.com which costed 299.99$ (Including shipping charges.) My grandparents say it's a "complicated device" but that's to expect from them. :lol
