Lee Leaving?

Featured Replies

I hope they publish the flight information when Lee finally leaves town. That way I can go out to the airport and makes sure he actually leaves.

See ya, You no clutch hitting, overrated strikeout machine.

Good defense, though.

When the Marlins traded for Conine late Sunday, they reworked his contract from Baltimore and gave him an extension through 2005 ($3 million each next year and in '05).

The trade was bad enough, but this is just idiocy on top of stupidity.

3 mil for COnine sounds alot better than 5-7 for Derrick "the human fan" Lee.

Why? Lee is a better hitter who is approaching his prime and is a superior defender. Lee is actually almost worth the money at $5 million while Conine is overpriced at $3 million. On a tight budget, though, I'd rather give $1-2 million to David Ortiz, Brad Fullmer, or Eric Karros.

so our trying to say Conine is better than Lee ? if you are you have to be kidding me , Lee is the best 1B ( in defence ) and can hit 30-35 HR every year and 110 RBI and is about 10 years younger than Conine

and can hit 30-35 HR every year and 110 RBI

when has he done this?

maybe in another uni, but so far, not in teal

McKeon made this a big point when he came to the team, and I agree. You can have the "ability" to hit 30 homers or win 20 games, but you only accomplish it if you DO it. That's what he talked to the pitching staff about. How when he was in Cincy he'd say "They'll be a force in a couple years." Well, it's been a couple years, and they're still in the same stage. They've looked better since he's come on board, though.

Yea, you . 368 OBP, gold glove defense, 18 stolen base bastard!

Lee is way to old to still have that potential tag. this is the player he is, and will always be. a great glove with the occasional pop offensively. i could be wrong, he might do better somewhere else, but like some have said already he hasnt done what was expected in a Marlins uniform. he's no Giambi.

I know this, so do you, and so does everyone else.

But we're almost the only people that like lee! :)

i could be wrong

Could be?

Almost every pop fly he hits into CF is a HR elsewhere. This park robs him of what me and Bill Robinson have estimated is at least 10 HR's a year, and possibly even a . 280-. 290 average. Leewill definately earn every penny of his $7-9 Mill where ever he goes. I GUARANTEE you that he is an ELITE 1B anywhere else. How many other 1B have the ability/potential to hit 40 HR's, . 280, 100 RBI, . 400 OBP, steal 20-30 bases, and win a gold glove? NONE.

todd helton Since when did Todd Helton have the speed to steal 20-30 bases?

NO 1B can do ALL the things he can do.

todd helton ROFL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :lolup :lolup :lolup :lolup

thats the thing. Potential. potential doesnt mean s*** if you havent actually realized it after 6 years in the bigs. Cabrera has potential, but if he hasnt done anything in 6 years than the potential or his prospect rankings dont mean s*** anymore either.

he does everything better than lee so that makes up for 20 SB

Well, Lee plays better defense than Helton as well.

Helton is obviously better, but my point is, where else can you find a first baseman that can do everything well?

todd helton can flat out hit. he might not steal 20-30 bases but 1st base isnt a speed position. he can flat out hit.

EVERYONE knows Derrek Lee has been held back by Pro Player but you apparently. I bet you WHEREVER he goes next year that he becomes an elite 1B, meaning top 5-3. I'll put money on that.

but 1st base isnt a speed position.

That's the point I'm trying to make. Where else will you find a 1B that can steal 20 bases? Or play gold glove defense. How about hit 40 home runs, drive in 100, and do it all with a . 400 on base? Nowhere but at the right infield corner at Pro Player. I know he hasn't done it yet, but he can do it anywhere but Pro Player and I think everyone pretty much knows this.

dude, stop kissing his a**. so the stadium has messed him up? Pudge has apparently been held back also right? Gary Sheffield? Mike Lowell's home run numbers have also been held back right? are you going to blame Lowell's slump on the Pro also?

Mike Lowell is a pull hitter. He has no problem at the Pro.

Lee on the other hand hits most of his HR's to center field and right-center field. You're going to tell me that a center field/right-center field HR hitter at Pro Player isn't being held back by the stadium? Please.
