September 5, 200323 yr with the size of our field, he should be able to get more balls to drop. i dont care about the power if he gets more balls to drop. in other words get some more damn hits.

September 5, 200323 yr Lee is way to old to still have that potential tag. He's 27. I would hardly consider him too old to realize his potential. he's no Giambi. Pretty ironic, since Giambi didn't accomplish much of anything by age 27.
September 5, 200323 yr Pretty ironic, since Giambi didn't accomplish much of anything by age 27. DownRodeo, you're a pimp. I just felt like sharing that.
September 5, 200323 yr yes man, ok. i give up. Derreck Lee is God, he's Barry freakin Bonds. he WILL do everything you've said he will do. more than 5 years still isnt enough to lift the potential tag. are you happy? do you want me to get on my knees to beg for forgiviness from the great Wildcard who is never wrong and all his guarantees always come through like they're prophecies and is incapable of ever bieng wrong. are you sure you're not one the authors of the Bible?
September 5, 200323 yr Wildcard who is never wrong and all his guarantees always come If I'm wrong, you can point a finger at and say I told you so. But we know that will never happen... :shifty
September 5, 200323 yr EVERYONE knows Derrek Lee has been held back by Pro Player but you apparently. I bet you WHEREVER he goes next year that he becomes an elite 1B, meaning top 5-3. I'll put money on that. Well, then why pay him 7 million dollars if our stadium sucks so much? Even if he's going to be great, he'll never be great in a Marlin uni by your arguement. So deal him to the AL and be gone with him.

September 5, 200323 yr most people warned fans to expect a huge season from Preston Wilson going to Coors. I'd expect something similar from Derek if he went to Camden Yards or another homer-friendly park.

I think if D-Lee goes to any park that doesn't have a center field as spacious as the Pro, he'll be fine.
September 5, 200323 yr We've been hearing about his potential here for years, and now you wanna start it all over again with his "potential" somewhere else than the PPS? Phooey. He's an above average defensive player with decent power who can't hit for average. Is he bad? No. But is he all that? Uh-uh. Can you say role player? Oh, and by the way, Lee. isn't a better defensive 1B than Helton. The two GG awards sitting on Helton's mantle is all the evidence you need of how much better Helton is.

Are you smoking crack? Lee's not a world-beater, but he's also a damn good 1B. The only 1Bs in the NL that are clearly superior to Lee are Helton, Thome, and Bagwell. He's on that next level down - Richie Sexson with better defense and slightly worse offense.
September 5, 200323 yr I'd take Sexson over Lee every time. You are right, he's no world-beater. And that's why he doesn't deserve the 5-7 mil. He's average.
