February 16, 200620 yr he is only 28 and is a good run blocking tackle. I doubt he will get cut unless he doesnt take a small paycut. I dont think his character is that good but there isnt anyone better out there right now to pick up sadly. He fits Houck's system and plays solid for us really (not elite, but solid). I think he gets asked to take a paycut but wont be cut. what is it with dolphins and their wives? McMichael and now him.

Little harsh and mean arent we? considering I have been watching the NFL and been going to the games since I was a kid and lived for football my whole life yes. Do you know anything? Tell me a Left tackle out there currently in FA that is available that would be better then him please. His cap number is not very good at all right now. But unless we draft a OT that is better then him in the 1st or Alabi is ready to take over LT (I doubt it yet). We might be stuck with him.
February 16, 200620 yr Posted on Thu, Feb. 16, 2006 DAMION McINTOSH Wife found hurt, Dolphin lineman jailed Miami Dolphins lineman Damion McIntosh was arrested after his wife called police, who found her face down on a bathroom floor at their home, according to an arrest report. BY JENNIFER LEBOVICH AND EVAN S. BENN jlebovich@MiamiHerald.com A Miami Dolphins offensive lineman was arrested at his Davie home Wednesday and charged with domestic violence for allegedly knocking his wife to the floor. Damion A. McIntosh, 28, told officers he and his wife were arguing and he ''pushed her to the floor'' according to a police report filed after his arrest at 10:41 a.m. McIntosh told police his wife ''hit her head pretty hard,'' the report said. McIntosh's wife, Precious Totanes McIntosh, was taken to Cleveland Clinic in Weston with a possible head injury. Officers arrested McIntosh and booked him at Broward's main jail, where he was being held without bail Wednesday night. Police received a 911 call from McIntosh's wife at 10:30 a.m. When officers arrived at the house, McIntosh greeted them at the front door and was cooperative with police, Davie police Lt. Bill Bamford said. McIntosh led them to a bathroom, where his wife was unresponsive and face down on the floor, the arrest report shows. Precious McIntosh was home Wednesday night. The McIntoshes live in a $1.3 million house in the 2100 block of Lynx Avenue, inside a gated community in Davie. The couple was married on Oct. 8, 2004, according to marriage records. Wednesday's call was the first time police have been to the house for a domestic incident. McIntosh is a former all-star offensive and defensive lineman for Hollywood's McArthur High Mustangs. He played offensive tackle for Kansas State University and was selected by the San Diego Chargers in the third round of the 2000 NFL draft. McIntosh spent four seasons in San Diego before signing a contract with the Dolphins in March 2004 for $23 million over six years. FIRST-STRINGER The 6-foot-4, 345-pound McIntosh was the team's starting left tackle last season, his second with the Dolphins. Coaches and commentators were impressed with his performance, saying he contributed to a dramatic improvement in the Dolphins' offensive line. The National Football League could fine or suspend McIntosh for the incident under the league's personal-conduct policy. Generally, the league waits for some legal action before making a decision. Dolphins Coach Nick Saban issued a written statement Wednesday afternoon about the arrest: ``We understand the serious nature of the charges and certainly don't condone in any way the type of conduct which has been alleged. However, we will not make a comment about this specific matter until we collect more information.'' McIntosh's agent declined to comment. OTHER INCIDENTS McIntosh is not the first Dolphin to be arrested in a domestic violence incident. Dolphins tight end Randy McMichael and his wife were both arrested in 2004 after a fight at their home. McMichael was arrested on a charge of aggravated battery on a pregnant woman. Cawanna McMichael was arrested on a domestic battery charge. Charges against both were later dropped. McMichael was also arrested in 2005 for a domestic incident with his wife. He pleaded guilty to criminal trespass in the case and was fined one game check by the NFL. What a f***ing dirtbag. http://www.miami.com/mld/miamiherald/sports/13883099.htm
February 16, 200620 yr Author fact is we need 5 draft picks just for the offensive line so they cant be cutting people unless they kill a president.
February 16, 200620 yr Do you know anything about the Dolphins/NFL/NFL Draft or do you try and pretend? And people start problems with you right? The next time you think of complaining to me about a user starting with you I'll make sure to reply with a link to that post.
February 16, 200620 yr Mac won't be cut or released. Miami has a history of letting bad sumaritans (sp) play, regardless of their crime. McMichael, Gardner, Boston, etc.

February 16, 200620 yr Maybe him and Randy should go into councelling together or something. I just don't know what it is with these guys... :thumbdown

All I know is McIntosh is a player slated to make about 4.5 million next year and unless he takes a substantial paycut, he is not going to be back. He is a good backup and a poor starter. For someone who plays LT for us, he is a decent run blocker but a terrible pass protector, something we must have if we dont have a mobile QB such as Gus. He does not move well, and if anyone has seen him play, they would have noticed how many times he gets beat by speed and double moves. Even when he run blocks, he is good at the point of attack because of his sheer size but after the inital block he will never hit a linebacker on the second level party because he is too slow to get there and his huge inability to hit a LB who is a moving target. The Dolphins are happy with the development of Anthony Alabi and most likely will be drafting a OT in the draft and/or signing a guy in FA whether it be an UFA or a roster cut from another team.
February 16, 200620 yr The Fan is right, not to mention that McIntosh accounted for a ton of holding and false start penalties because of his inability to defend premier pass rushing DEs. He was absolutely atrocious.
February 16, 200620 yr Do they have a club on the team centering around beating their wives or something? Get rid of this fatass and let Vernon Carey play left tackle.
February 17, 200620 yr Do they have a club on the team centering around beating their wives or something? Get rid of this fatass and let Vernon Carey play left tackle. Vernan's footwork is too slow for Left Tackle and alabi most likely wont be ready. Like I said above he isnt a great left tackle but there is worse in the league too. If we draft one he will be jetisoned but gotta see what is there when we draft you know? nobody likes what he did, but that is for the authorities to deal with.

He was absolutely atrocious. Yeah, I agree with him and you that McIntosh is pretty bad. There are also options available in FA to replace him (Jeff Backus as one example) that are better - they'd just cost alot more.
February 17, 200620 yr Miami has the Dolphins, The greatest football team! We take the ball from goal to goal, Like no one's ever seen! We're in the air, We're on the ground, We're always in control. So when you say Miami, You're talking Super Bowl! :plain

There are also options available in FA to replace him (Jeff Backus as one example) that are better - they'd just cost alot more. That was the guy who immediately jumped to my mind as an UFA as soon as I saw the list. While he does not have McIntosh's size or strength, nor does he have elite mobility, he does have one thing Damion does not have.....a brain that functions. Backus is a smart vet who seems to understand how to maximize his talent and not minimize it. He also is very versatile and can play the guard position. I can't see him commanding huge dollars and for the right price, I wouldnt mind exploring that option. Also, before the 05-06 NCAA season, this years draft was hyped as the year of the OT. However, throughout the season many of the top rated tackled suffered hits to their stock through various reasons. While I do not want us to go OL in round 1, I wouldnt mind it if we did in round 2 and with the sheer number of above average OT prospects in Ferguson, Justice, Scott, Winston, McNeil, O'Callgahan, etc.. I would expect one to be there when we select in round 2. There are also some pretty good OG prospects such as Max Jean-Gilles, Lutui, Charles Spencer, Davin Joseph and off the top of my head I can even think of 2 centers I wouldnt mind in Mangold from tOSU and Esslinger from Minn. Bottom line is there are more than enough top options to replace McIntosh who will be cheaper and even come with more upside.

Yeah Backus is a decent player who would help the Dolphins while presumably not beating his wife. I'm actually hoping the Bills sign him (though their line is piss poor and he'd be a bigger improvement over Gandy in Buffalo than he would McIntosh in Miami).
February 17, 200620 yr Yall the Fan is dead ON! and fish fan 79(although cool Marino graphic) is WAY OFF ON DM. Nick will try to upgrade in the offseason on both LT and RT and RG. without a doubt! how could he not? DM is gone if he doesnt take a paycut. But The Fan "YOU LEAVE GUS F. THE HELL ALONE! he played well last year.

Nick will try to upgrade in the offseason on both LT and RT and RG. without a doubt! how could he not? DM is gone if he doesnt take a paycut. But The Fan "YOU LEAVE GUS F. THE HELL ALONE! he played well last year. If you look at my statement above, I never said he is a good or great player. I said there isnt that much out there to replace him with. The problem with brackus is that Houck likes huge sized linemen. Which he really doesnt fit into the mold and he would cost a large sum (more then McIntosh costs right now). Is he an upgrade mentally? Of course he is, but he isnt an elite LT really. Which he will be paid rather large as one of the few OT's out there to make a difference on the market. We all already had the Gus debate 2 days ago on a thread, feel free to bring it back up over there if you want to dude But, lets continue that there instead of starting old ground over again here? If you are looking OT in the 2nd round (before combine), I would have to say only one of the following will be there: The following will be gone by the time we pick round 2 (which is 52 pick I believe off the top of my head with the pick rotations, could be 53) D'brickshaw (top 5), Winston Justice (RT), Marcus McNeil (RT), Jon Scott (LT) all should be gone within the top 40 picks. Eric Winston will be interesting to see what happens with. He could be top 20 or could be there when we pick. The combine is huge for him. Colledge (Boise State) is another that is interesting he is smaller and fits the zone schemes that Denver/Atlanta and now most likely GB will be employing. Trueblood - projected right tackle out of BC. BC always makes very good technique guys and this one is mean too. But he is a right tackle more then a left. whitworth - LSU LT but might be a RT in the NFL too. There is alot of debate on him, I see him everywhere from the 1st to the 3rd rounds. I like him alot but most think he will end up a RT or even Guard. O'Callgahan - looks to be a right tackle really also but might be there. looked fine at the Senior bowl but not hugely impressive over all. there is a few others later on in the draft that arent as "highly rated" like Miami's RT, Michigan kid (stenavich SP), etc. Guards Latui - USC guard is a huge beast and would be interesting. could be there when we pick in the 2nd Gilles - Even bigger but I expect him gone before us. He is a monster in size. Spencer - great technique and size, I personally never want to draft a guy that was coached by the Wannstache Setterstrom- A great guard that was one of the reasons why Eslinger was the top rated Center in the nation. This guy has great technique and good size. I like him in the 3rd or 4th for us easily be a starter right off of the bat Spitz - early second day or late 1st day guard. centers I really dont think we need when Rex took over the centers duty most of the false starts left. He helped with the blocking alot too and that is about when we went on that 6 game win streak. I like the guy there as he mean, tough and great at it. Unless we get an upgrade like Bentley (N.O. OG/C that is a FA and wants to be a C). It is a deep center class though so if they are a BPA Mangold - top center after the senior bowl, big beast of a center out of Ohio State Eslinger - dropped some because he doesnt have the size folk want really in their center. But he has great technique. I think setterstrom is a big reason for why he was considered so good. But, others do disagree Cook - a solid pick up at center, could be a guard in the NFL too as he has the size and speed. Degory - second day pick but a good center Can we replace McIntosh? Yes. Do we have other holes that need to be looked at first though? Yes. Dolphins current cap number is 8 million over. I expect us to reasonably be about 12-15 million under though. So we shall see what happens I guess. If it is between Backus and Bentley? I will take Bentley in a heartbeat though.
February 17, 200620 yr http://www.footballsfuture.com/2006/freeagentsOL.html there is some information that could help out for more Offensive linemen out there and teams where they are expected to go to.
