March 3, 200620 yr So I was reading this site called blabbermouth.net.....here are some tidbits I found interesting: VH1 will broadcast the March 13 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony on Tuesday, March 21 at 9 p.m. (ET/PT). This year's inductees include heavy metal innovators BLACK SABBATH, new wave rock band BLONDIE, jazz legend and creative genius MILES DAVIS, southern rock mainstays LYNYRD SKYNYRD and British punk pioneers the SEX PISTOLS. Herb Alpert and Jerry Moss, founders of A&M Records will be inducted in the Lifetime Achievement Award in the Non-Performer category. Presenters and special guests will be announced as they are confirmed. VH1 will offer in-depth insight and expansive information about this year's inductees along with bios, photos, radio streams, videos, and more. For VH1's dedicated site and more info, click here. That's a hell of a class DEF LEPPARD and JOURNEY will be teaming up for a U.S. tour this summer. No dates have been confirmed at this time. DEF LEPPARD's two-CD collection of hits, "Rock of Ages", has sold 452,000 copies in the United States since its May 2005 release. Meanwhile, the band's 1999 "Vault - Greatest Hits" (Mercury) collection has shifted 4.08 million copies so far. DEF LEPPARD's all-covers set, entitled "Yeah!", is tentatively scheduled for release in May. Guitarist Phil Collen told Billboard.com last year that the album will include "a bunch of stuff ? all '70s stuff. Most of it is songs that we grew up with in England. 'No Matter What' by BADFINGER is going to be the leadoff single. We've done 'Waterloo Sunset' by THE KINKS, T. REX, MOTT THE HOOPLE, ROXY MUSIC and THIN LIZZY. And a lot of it is obscure; it's not the standard stuff. It's not like STONES or BEATLES songs." Not the same without Mr. Perry, but still an interesting setup. And now, for the news from metal giants past/present and future: AVENGED SEVENFOLD, BULLET FOR MY VALLENTINE and TRIVIUM have been confirmed as the opening bands for METALLICA on June 8 at Gelredome in Arnhem, Holland. AVENGED SEVENFOLD will also open for METALLICA on June 6 at Waldbuhne in Berlin, Germany. METALLICA's "Escape from the Studio '06" tour dates: Jun. 03 - Nurburgring, GER - Rock Am Ring Festival Jun. 04 - Nurnberg, GER - Rock Im Park Festival Jun. 06 - Berlin, GER - Waldebuhne Jun. 08 - Arnhem, NETH - Gelredome Jun. 10 - Donington UK - Download Festival Jun. 11 - Dublin IRE - Download Festival Jun. 15 - Pannonia Fields, AUT ? Nova Rock Jun. 17 - Imola, ITA - Heineken Jammin Festival Aug. 12 - Tokyo, JPN - Summer Sonic Festival Aug. 13 - Osaka, JPN - Summer Sonic Festival As previously reported, representatives for METALLICA's management (QPrime) and record label (Warner Bros.) have both rejected as "false" rumors that the band will be headlining this summer's Ozzfest. METALLICA recently confirmed in a posting on their official web site that they have recruited Rick Rubin (SLAYER, SYSTEM OF A DOWN, SLIPKNOT, AUDIOSLAVE, RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS) to produce their forthcoming studio LP. The news was accompanied on the site by several pictures of METALLICA in the studio with a shoeless Rubin. METALLICA officially began the songwriting process for their new album late last year and are expected to spend the next few months compiling ideas before entering the final recording stage. A late 2006/early 2007 release via Warner Bros. is expected. METALLICA's 1991 self-titled ("black") album sold just under 6,000 copies in the United States last week, bringing the total number of copies sold since its release to 14.59 million (according to Nielsen SoundScan). Damn Dutch and Germans getting a hell of a show.
March 3, 200620 yr The Sex Pistols were a scam. And, while I like punk rock, everything Sid Vicious stands for (not being able to play his instrument to the effect that he wasn't plugged in half the time, being stoned out of his mind on stage, just there as a stage presence) I think rock, particularly punk rock, could do without. I like the non-Sid versions of the Sex Pistols and think John Lydon (Johnny Rotten) is a hell of a personality, but, ugh, if they give airtime to Sid's story it's defeating.

I just hope its better than St. Anger but with the talent that they have on board for this next one, I think we'll hear a great album out of these guys. :thumbup

March 3, 200620 yr Sex Pistols had this to say about their induction... Heh. I hope that's not real, but, it probably is.
March 3, 200620 yr DEF LEPPARD and JOURNEY will be teaming up for a U.S. tour this summer. No dates have been confirmed at this time. ... Not the same without Mr. Perry, but still an interesting setup. Oh, I'm there for sure. Can't wait to see all the viejos again! :cool I too wish S.P. was still with the group -- I miss his (and drummer Steve Smith's) contributions in the studio. Having said that... IN CONCERT, the new guy (S. Augeri) puts on a hell of a performance; in fact, I even like him better 'live' than Perry! You should definitely check 'em out. :thumbup
March 3, 200620 yr Steve AUgeri looks and almost sounds like Perry minus the ego attitude. I've seen Journey a few times with the new guy, it's still a fun show...much better than Foreigner (Lou Gramm has no voice left) If Metallica keeps it old school, it'll rock... I stopped with Reload, the newer stuff doesn't do much for me, I'll put in Master of Puppets anytime...
March 3, 200620 yr Sex Pistols had this to say about their induction... All the horrible grammar and slanted writing almost make it cute. Never was a fan of the Sex Pistols, but even if they showed Skynyrd and Sabbath would overshadow them.

I was afraid the songs would sound like covers, but they managed to find a guy that had Perry's voice type, and yet somehow sounded better. He had a great range, great support...just...wow. Probably the best concert I've gone to, next to Steely Dan. I'd see them again in a heartbeat.
March 3, 200620 yr Sex Pistols had this to say about their induction... Lydon is right about the Rock Hall -- it's B.S. I'm not a fan of him or the Sex Pistols, but I am glad someone's got the bollocks to speak out against it.
March 4, 200620 yr Metallica's long past its' good days. St. Anger was awful. Maybe. But then again I think that these guys still have some great rock left in them and St. Anger was just the culmination of a lot of bad cr@p that came together for the band at a bad time. I'm going to wait and see what these guys pull out before I say they are over the hill.

With a new producer they should be much much better. If you have seen these guys live lately, you can see that they are still awesome. I hope they will add some escape from the studio tour dates in the US.

Yeah, the real bad stuff. The Ramones could play their instruments and if stoned you wouldn't know it. Same goes for the Misfits, Black Flag, Social Distortion, Iggy and the Stooges or any other punk band worth a damn. I've got numerous live albums from these guys, and though it's faster, there's more swearing, etc., they're putting on good shows regardless. Sid Vicious was a prop and a loser.
