Pirate ship fires on US ship?

Featured Replies

I just heard of this on NBC news, down in africa's area this happen with the vessel firing on a US ship. Seems it was a grenade launcher or something foolish like that. supoosedly no Us shipmen died

Some idiot pirates took on two Navy missile cruisers, there were no U.S. injuries, but the pirates didn't fare too well.

This is the same area where pirates attacked a cruise ship with RPG's or something similar a couple months back.

Like an RPG would do anything to one of our military ships?

Nothing like a little gunfire to get Accord's motor going. If you can't read English and are reading this thank google's language tools.

One pirate died and a few wounded right?

old fashioned piracy is still alive and well ... especially popular off africa and around the philapines

it's pretty common to take industrial ships, move them out to see, rework them and then take them back to port and sell them

Their is still Pirates out there? Are you $hitting me?

Their?

Is this some kind of internet slang? Or just bad grammar?

I'm just curious, not being sarcastic or anything.

It's not like Captain Jack or anything, but ya there are 'pirate ships'. They are modern day vessels though, and the term pirate is only a 'ceremonial' term nowadays. Just thieves and robbers and regular boats that try to steal or attack other ships.

Which is exactly what pirates did back in the day.

Piracy has been around since before history and will continue for as long as there is a need to transport goods that have value to an individual. Stage coach robbers? Pirates. Train robbers? Pirates. Now they have organized gangs that steal tractor trailers. Pirates.

Sea pirates are responsible for a lot of deaths in Africa, Asia, and the Carribean. Here are some links:

3/15/05 - Jakarta

4/26/05 - Yemen

11/8/05 - Cruise Ship

2/20/06 - Tanker

And here's a page on avoiding Pirate attacks on your private yacht.
