poptart
why hasnt he really been talked about in the 2B mix? obviously he's been at the WBC, but in all those articles after Reese retired, barely any of them even mentioned Amezaga, they all just talked about Uggla. PBCMarlinsFan
Here is some Amezaga info for you, from Tom D'Angelo's article in yesterday's Palm Beach Post: Full house: Girardi is looking forward to seeing Alfredo Amezaga return from the World Baseball Classic. Amezaga, whose Mexico team was eliminated Thursday despite its victory against the United States, still is an unknown to the Marlins' manager. "We haven't seen Amezaga play yet,'' Girardi said. "I'm happy for him that Mexico is winning, but it's making it kind of tough.'' Amezaga was slotted for a utility role anyway, but after Pokey Reese was let go, the Marlins would have preferred Amezaga be around to push Dan Uggla for the starting job at second base. Amezaga was 1-for-4 in the Classic with his hit coming in Thursday's victory against the U.S. He had one at-bat entering the final game. "That's the hard thing, he's not having a chance,'' Girardi said. "The guys who aren't playing every day, you hate to see them behind when they come back.'' MarlinsLou
He's probably better then Reese across the board even if he was still on the team. It's really which do you think is more important, Amezaga's defense or Uggla's slugging potential. Both will probably have similar low OBP. Ralph
Amezaga can also play some outfield.

Sirspud
I'm really not sure Uggla is a major league capable player, despite the fact that he can slug for a 2B. I'm not sure Amezaga is a starting caliber player either. We'll see.
