Posted April 5, 200619 yr Nate Bump - R - Marlins Marlins sent RHP Nate Bump outright to Triple-A Albuquerque. Bump was placed on waivers to make room for Franklyn German on Florida's roster. Since no one picked him up, there's a good chance that he'll log quite a bit of time in the Marlins' pen this year. Apr. 5 - 4:34 pm et the haters groan in unison. He'll be baaaack...
April 5, 200619 yr he can still pitch, we could fit him back in the pen if someone starts to struggle later on in the year.
April 5, 200619 yr Author How long do waivers last? good question. there's got to be a time limit for each team. Must be less than 2 total days or so.
April 5, 200619 yr Well if it makes him feel better, he is still the best closer in the CBL. :mischief
April 5, 200619 yr That was fast though. Didn't they just place him on waivers yesterday? I think it was 2 nights ago.
April 5, 200619 yr I think that's exactly what was expected. Bump is still injured, no one was going to take him in that shape. It's a win-win for everyone except the true haters.

April 5, 200619 yr Even if he doesn't come back, he could be useful for another low-budget team that wants a somewhat experienced long relief pitcher.
April 5, 200619 yr So every single team in the league could have had him. He has options left. They could have had him and sent him to AAA. And no one wanted him. Sums. It. Up.
April 5, 200619 yr Well not quite, right? The Fish have an opportunity to keep him even if another team claims him, right?>
April 5, 200619 yr I like the title of this thread...like an obituary. Hopefully, he won't be recalled, and we can give the other young guys a chance. Bump had a chance here, and I think it is time for all involved to move on. We just have too many arms to not give someone else a shot.

NO he is NOT STILL INJURED. BUT the front office did a great job making everyone think he was still injured, including the vast majority on this forum. Of course he wasn't picked up. Rosters are already set on the first day of the season. The Marlins got just what they wanted. Great timing on their part, wouldn't you say? Pretty obvious. Free Nate Bump! Seven years is long enough!
April 5, 200619 yr always an excuse Exactly what does that mean? it means I was waiting for your excuse for when he passed through waivers I like Nate Bump, I think he can contribute, but it says something when no one claims him(or maybe they did and we couldnt work something out, although I doubt it)
April 5, 200619 yr Waiver wire is 72 hours. Most rosters are pretty well set right now, so don't read anything into a team not picking him up off waivers. Sometimes, late in the season, teams will pick a player up just so another team can't have them, i.e., Jose Canseco some years back. GMs live in a strange world.
April 5, 200619 yr I'd rather have Bump out there than herges. He's the only guy we've sent to the mound this year that didn't look like he had command. Waiting for that last out was frustrating and he got bailed out by an awesome Jacobs play.
