April 13, 200620 yr The already existing public transportation couldn't be more convenient, short of having a stop at second base. But I have my own thoughts about people using public tansportation to get to baseball games in this market. I'm not so sure how much it helps, but it certainly doesn't hurt.
April 13, 200620 yr Then if it sits next to a piece of mass transit like the Metrorail that a good portion of the working population uses to get out of downtown Miami, then I would say that its the perfect place in Miami Dade. A part of me doesn't exacly want to tear down a piece of history like race track, but if its not going to do anything but sit there and rot away, it should be used towards something that people can gather and enjoy much like people did back in the day for the racetrack. The building is a landmark so it cannot be torn down. If they decide to build the stadium there they would have to include the structure in the design of the ballpark. Like I have said before the MetroRail stop doesn't make up for the massive access problem the site has. The MetroRail doesn't extend into western Broward and will not extend into places like Doral, Kendall, etc until atleast the end of the 2010s.
April 13, 200620 yr The track can't be touched....but the lots around it are in the running. Is it really 100% untouchable? It's on the National Registrar of Historic Places, but does this mean it's 100% untouchable? Anyway, the lots around it ARE big enough. Could this be the best of both world's for a horse racing and baseball fan like me.
April 13, 200620 yr Hialeah Park is more untouchable than the Art Deco District with the addition of the Flamingo Sanctuary.

You also have the Trirail that runs on the rail road tracks next to the race track. It would drop you off exactly where the metro rail station is. There was a time when many famous people especially the Kennedy's would travel to Hialeah Park on the same existing rail road tracks from their West Palm Beach homes. They are planning to extend the trirail all the way to Homestead. This would be a lot like going to a game up North.
April 13, 200620 yr maybe their have both race and ballpark together that way after the game you go race track too that good idea

Oh okay, thanks for clearing that up. :thumbup And now that you've said that, it would be kind cool to have the old racetrack as a backdrop, much like Petco Park has the old Western Metal Supply Building incorporated into it. All of this is kind of moot anyways if the city can't get that land to begin with anyways..
April 13, 200620 yr maybe their have both race and ballpark together that way after the game you go race track too that good idea I think the problem with that is MLB does not like anything to do with gambling.

April 13, 200620 yr one thing about the metrorail drop off beside being at the front of the race track.. Future track will run from FIU to intermodal which is the airport going down Flager not to sure what North dade county will attach but it is a thought the thing is the Traffic to get from Palmetto to the race track..thats why maybe the north Hialeah near Palmetto, I 75 route maybe better...
April 13, 200620 yr Apples and oranges though. The stadium and race track site in Hialeah would be one enviroment while Calder and DS are their own different worlds.

You have a metro rail station directly off the Palmetto. I thinks its the NW 74 St. Exit.

April 13, 200620 yr their rebuilt road state 934 that come from okeechobee passby racetrack go all way to le jeune
April 13, 200620 yr ya they did do that forgot about that if i rember correctly form my days living in Hialeah the last stop was ockeechobee not to sure if they made an extension if they did great park your car there for a buck and take the train for a buck to and beat the traffic.. one thing that sucks a bit about Miami Heat is once you get out you are stuck in down town traffic it maybe take 10-15 min to get on the highway but that is manageable
April 13, 200620 yr They rebuilt state road 934... the one that comes from Okeechobee road, passes by the racetrack, and goes all the way to Le Jeune.
April 13, 200620 yr meant the metrorail nott he 934 whatever we call it nowadays to me 74 means 21 st in Hialeah like 103 is 49 st don't ask you got to have lived there to understand
April 13, 200620 yr Author Mass transit could work. What we need to do is imagine a Wrigley Field feel. No one in their right mind comes by car. The L is the way to go, cheap and quick. The stadium is surrounded by huge pre-game action, parties, restaurants dedicated to the teams history and more. the entire area is ALIVE. South Florida can create the same feel. Hialeah has the pieces, we just need to put them in the right places. The metro rail system could be expanded in on a major scale to incorporate the thousands traveling from Broward and Palm Beach, and without any form of traffic, have all parties in the area for a low price. This could be Hialeah's last chance to thrive. There is a possibility for Major success Here. With a reestablished racetrack and a Marlins Stadium, this could be a major sports complex in not just Florida, but the US. Hotels and spring up everywhere buying out the broken down areas surrounding the once thriving communities, and give the town a major name. This would benefit the economy, the franchise, the city, and what ever other players take part it its actions. The Marlins tight spot could be Hialeah’s Knight in Shining Armor.
April 13, 200620 yr You do realize it would cost billions upon billions of dollars to expand the MetroRail into Broward and Palm Beach right? Money those counties don't have. Lets not forget this would take decades to complete. The Hialeah Heights site puts Hialeah on the map and all those things you just mentioned.
April 13, 200620 yr Can someone give me the phone number to mayor of Hialeah and also the mayor of Miami? because I'm interested to hear what they say about the stadium, and ask them what there going to get this thing done.
April 13, 200620 yr Mayor Carlos Alvarez Stephen P. Clark Center 111 N.W. 1st Street, 29th Floor Miami, Florida 33128 Phone: 305-375-5071 Fax: 305-375-3618 E-Mail: mayor@miamidade.gov as for the Hialeah Mayor is Julio Robiana and there phone number is 305 883-5800
April 13, 200620 yr Author Money, I wasnt talking about getting the meto INTO broward.. just make it so that itcan support the flow comming in from the other counties.. Think about what it was like going to a heat game at the Miami Arena.. You drive down, park in a garage somewhere, and take the rail to the park. My family used to make that run from West Broward 3 times a WEEk for heat games. It Works.
April 13, 200620 yr i spoke to asst to mayor of hialeah their told me that marlin samson have not call them so for me call marlin get them start calling and on wed i talk to claude delorme he the senior vice president to stadium development he told me their visit to race track to look round see the traffic in the area so maybe something get togeher soon Office of the Mayor -- 305-883-5800 Monday to Friday (Lunes a Viernes): 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. for Hialeah

Park and ride the train to the stadium without having to drive into Dade county or requesting for transfers. I would like to see train cars with TV monitors, food, drinks, and radio about the Marlins, as you are relaxing and enjoying your trip to the stadium. Hell you could knick name it the D-Train. Just an optimistic idea.
