Leaked Video Footage Of The PS3 In Action

Plus that screen is HUGE.

That thing is going to look good. Usually you put any kind of good graphics on a big screen and there's something wrong. I just hope the first wave of releases are good and it's not one of every five is good like usual when a new system releases.

Granted, Metal Gear will be one of those, so I'll be happy.

I'm getting a PS3 solely for the Blu-Ray player. I'll probably only pick up a few of the big A1 titles like GTA, Madden, NCAA Football, and Gran Turismo.

Blu-Ray is supposedly getting taken out because as of right now there's no market for it, and Sony's selling Blu-Ray's by themselves for 1,000 bucks. So, they're not going to give it away for practically free in the PS3. It's supposedly one of the couple of things they decided to take off (maybe the only thing). But, this is just what I've heard from a friend in the industry.

what's the Blu-Ray player?

The new DVD technology, holds HD data and is a higher quality then what we use now. Also holds more information on one disc. I think it comes out in May or June of this year, probably the latter.

700+ bucks for one. Jesus.

Huh?

That would really suck, but I don't know if I can imagine Sony getting rid of the Blu-Ray this late in the game. I think it'll be great since Sony is a major backer of the Blu-Ray contingent and the PS3 will be a big hit and help sell the newfangled video format. If not though, it'll be a huge cost cutter which I could also understand. I'm just hoping they make the PS3 have BR technology and it can come in at $500 or so.

Well, they did just recently push back the release date a bit. Some speculate that was the reason.

The release date was highly speculated as March up until...well, March :D

I've been following stories on all the main PS3 message boards, and it seems like Sony didn't realize how much it would cost to make the systems with Blu-Ray.

That's why the release date keeps getting pushed back...

And btw, that BS promise of '2006' they made isn't happening. That pisses me off a lot.
