:(

wow, Ron Villone trade's looking alright right now.

I wouldn't say that just yet because we traded Mike Flannery and Yorman Bazardo for Ron Villone :banghead (both are considered better prospects than Julianel and are younger)

Bazardo is 5 years younger than Julianel and has mid of the rotation potential

Note: He allowed 1 hit through 6 innings his last start

Yeah, Bazardo would be like the 10th best starter in our system.

Why does that matter? we still got raped in the deal

Bazardo > Julianel (by a wide margin)

Flannery > Julianel

C'mon 3User...at the time it was the right deal...we were making a playoff push. It's easy to look back and criticize a deal for prospects. I still believe it was the right move as was Gonzalez, Smith & Snare for Urbina and Levinski & Bautista for Conine.

BTW - anyone know how Travis Chick is doing these days? Ramp???

I didn't like the deal when it was made and I expressed my opinions on this board. My problem is that Atlanta got the a superior pitcher in Kyle Farnsworth for a lesser package of prospects than those we sent over to seattle for Ron Villone. The Braves ended up with Kyle Farnsworth services plus got 2 picks(2 first I think) while we got Villone service (not much) and Julianel in return.

So yea its nice for management to go out and make a trade and help out the ball club, but please don't make stupid trades for guys such as Ismael Valdes and Ron Villone who either where already washed up, the park they played in padded their stats, or stats prove that they where more lucky than good.

Chick is now in the Cincy system ala the Joe Randa trade from the Padres. He's doing alright, and is considered a top SP prospect for them, although he's having difficulty developing his secondary stuff.

Julianel also finished with 9Ks in that start. Pretty good work, but he's wayyy to old for Carolina. Expect a promotion soon.

Thanks for the Chick update...I seem to remember him having a horrendous season last year in the Padre system. Maybe a change of scenery will do him well...

Bazardo didn't have a good season last year once he got to Seattles system, and I honestly see him as more of a reliever prospect. I think the organization thought the same.

Anyway, Julianel was brought in as a younger lefty who will probably get a spot in the pen at some point.

The series of trades doesnt bother me.

he'll be 27 in September

other than that, he could have a chance in our pen at some point

Last night Julianel had another good outing, going 5.1 IP with 4 H 1 ER 1 BB and 1 SO. I'd like to see him get the K totals up but I could see him getting a chance in the majors as a situational lefty at some point this year if he keeps pitching well

Of course Tank pitched in the same game and pitched better, but whatever
