ummmm.....that was kind of a pointless thing to say. The topic is on Looper, no need to argue about if Wagner should be considered in the same breath as Gagne and Smoltz

ps....

wagner is.

but thats not the point of this topic.

Looper is one of the better closers in the league.

this is fact.

it may not be 1-2-3 everytime but only 2 or 3 people can do that

Looper is our closer, and I have full faith in him...

I would be happy if the Media would rip Wolf.

For what, doing his job?

I still have faith but man, the dude is killing me. I don't understand why Loop was used on Saturday when he wasn't needed. Don't you guys think this may have burned him out a bit? I agree he should have been yanked when they tied the score. I don't give 2 shiits about the guys confidence now, not at this point in the season. Either get the job done or Jack will find somebody else who will.

Apparently they were warming him up already in the pen before the Marlins tacked on the extra runs, so initially it was going to be a save situation. They decided to use him anyway (I guess because he was already warmed up?) but he ended up only throwing 9 pitches in the inning regardless, so I don't know if it wore him down that badly. I guess his mph was down a little in Sunday's game though, so it's a valid question.

I didn't get to see any of that game on Sat. (the one I really wanted to watch). Stupid TBS. They did show Fri. and Sun. though so it was OK. Jack definately showed some faith in him be calling on him again sunday. Very classy move by Beckett with his statement. He could easily rip on Loop (and be justified) but he acknowledged what happened and moved on. I gained a lot of respect for Beckett.

I like Looper and he has been great this year. However, I don't know if he is going to be Playoff caliber closer. Keep in mind, blowing a playoff game may mean there is no tomorrow. The problem with Looper is that he looses his confidence and has a problem rebounding from tough situations like walking the lead off man or putting a couple of runners on. I sh!t my pants every time there is a one run lead into the 9th with Looper closing.

I don't know if Uggy would be better, Uggy seems more cold blooded and have the 'in your face' actitude. However, he is not dealing with the closing the game preasure. I think is way to late to tinker with the closing role. I'm sure we will ride the current setup into the playoff at the very least.

you gained respect for Josh because he was mature?

anyway, there are only 3 lights out closers in the bigs, but we still have one of the better ones

also HC, Loop's mph was the same as the past few games(per TBS), he just left balls in the zone and they were nailed

s*** happens. it was one game. move on

My dad watched the end of the game, and even he said of the pitches the first couple guys hit: "They're right down the middle."

Location, location, location.

Well, Loop tried hitting his spots but what do you expect? He was painting corners but a certain person couldn't see the artwork.....
