I am 100% shocked.

So i had to listen to every wanna be mock-drafter act like they know what they were talking about for the last month, yet none of them predicted this...

To be fair.....you wouldn't have seen this coming either.

Yes, the Texans do have Dominack Davis but this will go down as one of the stupidest moves in the NFL's history.

I don't think anyone saw this coming. All the mock-drafters, the experts at ESPN and NFL Network. Hell, I don't even think the Texans knew they would take Williams untill this morning... early this week at the latest.

What happens if Reggie Bush turns out to be a bust and Mario Williams becomes a player along the lines of Julius Peppers? Reggie Bush is an electrifying player, but I still have my doubts about his ability to transition to the NFL.

f*** man, anyone can be a bust. You pick the better player if you have the first pick, period.

How do you know Reggie Bush is the better player? Because he tore up superstar defenses like Washington, Arizona, and Oregon?

I'm sure Reggie Bush will be good, but I have my doubts they'll be carving his HOF bust after week 2 of the preseason.

Saints will take Bush no question!

They're gonna posture and trade the pick to the Jets. Book it.

Miami will take a WR in the draft. I thought so before, even more so now that one of our biggest offensive threats is gone.

My pick is Holmes, my sexy pick is Jackson.

I'd love to see him become a complete and utter failure for the Jets. Any other team, I'd wish him moderate success.

:hat

per espn bush's agent says NO and him are talking contract

I'm really shocked that they didn't just do what the Chargers did with Vick and just trade the pick.

They probably could have slid all the way to #4 and still gotten Williams, all while getting pretty much the entire Jets draft.

but mario williams wouldn't be there at 4. NO woulda taken him. apparently there is a couple teams who have mario at the top of their boards. what wins championships in the nfl? the defense. and houston's thing is that mario will become the cornerstone of their defense. will that work out? maybe not, but they figure he will pan out for that reason. i can't blame them for thinking defenses win championships looking at the last few years. you don't need a top line runner to win.

No, I agree, but the Texans are a whole lot more than Williams or Bush away from winning. If they weren't committed to taking the best player available, they could have served themselves much better by getting serious value out of trading the #1 pick.

Brees and Bush in the same off-season?

What a haul for the Saints.

honestly i don't think many teams wanted to be the team to be 'forced' to take bush. for whatever reason, for all the talk about him being the concensus number 1 i don't think anyone wanted to be the team sitting at the top to be obligated to take him, not even the jets. i think the jets are the team who want him the most but even i don't think they are much more in love with him than anyone else.

yes the texans need a lot of help but if they believe mario is a cornerstone than they did the right thing by taking him. even if they traded down and got a bunch of picks they will be picking in the top 10 again next year anyway. they have a rb with some years left in him, a young #1 wr in johnson (once moulds retires), and carr is still relatively young. i say build up the defense this year and next year start focusing on the offense because those pieces are still young enough to be thinking 2-3 years down the road.

brees had LT and not much came of that and i am not ready to say reggie will be better than LT. all the luck to him but LT is kinda good. he also had that gates guy.

Still a huge (understatement) upgrade and addition for the Saints.

Losing Aaron Brooks is addition by subtraction for the Saints. Not to mention that Duce McAllister will be back. Saints should be considerably better.

I agree about the doubts about Reggie - my questions about him revolve around his durability in the NFL.

However, taking a guy like Mario Williams, who is basically a workout warrior, over Reggie isn't the way to go if I'm the Texans. If anything I trade the pick if I'm not sold on Bush. Trade down with the Jets and take D'Brickshaw at #4 and you're in much better shape as a franchise.

While I'm not convinced Reggie is a Gale Sayers-like superstar that all the "experts" are calling him, the Texans should have, IMO, traded down if they weren't convinced about Bush. They could have had quite the haul if they had.
