Chicago (18-25) at Florida (11-31)

Going home has rarely felt this good for the struggling Marlins.

Since the road was so unkind, the Marlins return to Dolphin Stadium on Monday looking to snap a seven-game losing streak. That's the most consecutive setbacks they've suffered since they dropped eight in a row from July 7-18, 2002. Overall, the Marlins went 2-8 in their 10-game, three-city road swing.

Off to the worst start in franchise history, the Marlins brace for three games with the Cubs in South Florida.

In late April, the Marlins lost two of three to the Cubs at Wrigley Field.

Former Cubs farmhand Ricky Nolasco gets the start for Florida. Obtained as part of the Juan Pierre trade, Nolasco is making his second start since being promoted from the bullpen. He is 2-1 with a 3.43 ERA. Ironically, the right-hander's first big-league win was against the Cubs, after he tossed two innings of scoreless relief on April 26. In that contest he struck out four while allowing one hit.

The Cubs are starting rookie Sean Marshall, who is 3-1 with a 3.43 ERA. On April 25, the left-hander beat the Marlins, tossing seven scoreless innings, allowing two hits and fanning seven.

Marshall has 34 strikeouts in 44 1/3 innings on the season.

The Marlins likely will start rookie shortstop Hanley Ramirez, who has been resting a strained left shoulder for the past five days.

Before the game, manager Joe Girardi will meet with general manager Admin Beinfest to determine whether to activate rookie Jeremy Hermida off the disabled list on Monday or Tuesday.

Pitching matchup

CHC: LHP Sean Marshall (3-1, 4.26 ERA)

Marshall gave up one hit over six innings and walked four in his last outing, against the Nationals. He also struck out six and is ranked as one of the strikeout leaders among National League rookies, with 34. He bounced back from a tough outing against the Giants and is getting better at changing speeds in different counts.

FLA: RHP Ricky Nolasco (2-1, 3.43 ERA)

Starting for the second time after being promoted from the bullpen, Nolasco faces his former team. In his first start, a no-decision at Atlanta, the rookie gave up two unearned runs in 3 2/3 innings and threw a season-high 79 pitches. Nolasco has faced his former organization before. In relief on April 26, he tossed two scoreless innings for his first Major League victory.

So far when doing the GT, im 3-2... The most important win came when we snapped our 11 losses in a row at home...

I figured since we have lost 7 in a row, I'll try and back an end to it :thumbup :pray

I'm feeling it tonight...10000 fans...9500 of them Cubs fans or Pierre fans...my friends there, I couldn't make it but I'll be there Wednesday for sure! I feel like this is our turn around game folks...can I get a "LET'S GO MARLINS!"

Argh. Thanks for the update.

knowing Hermida isn't back yet makes me feel better for not going...the last thing i needed was to miss Hermida's first start back...and I don't think is first game back he'll be starting personally.
