RUMOR: Marlins are shopping Dontrelle

Featured Replies

Even if the Marlins were discussing potential deals, that doesn't mean a trade would happen or that they are really "shopping him". Shopping implies that they are 95 percent sure to trade him. I don't think that trading him would be the best thing for this franchise, but if we were to recieve an absolutely incredible offer I would expect our FO to throughly consider the pros and cons. Wouldn't you like our FO to consider all possibilities to better our franchise, even if they don't actually pursue them?

At the game tonight, scouts pulled out their radar guns when Wellemyer came in after looking about ready to leave.

It happens, talent that may or may not come available is always scouted, other than that, it's just speculation on the part of writers who have a job to do and the fact that the Marlins receive less local coverage than your average college baseball team has something to do with the buzzard mentality surrounding the franchise. There's never any real news, anything to look for or read about other than after the fact regurgitated AP reports.

The FO would be foolish not to listen to offers. No doubt they will receive a few in the next 3.5 years the D-Train will be here, and given the SP depth the team possesses, looking carefully at them would be an intelligent thing to do. If the offer is too good to pass up, you have to take it, even if it isn't a popular decision.

Beinfest was on the radio this morning with Hank Goldberg & when asked about this issue, he pretty much discounted all the rumors. Basically said look we often have scouts here, they're always asking questions, I always listen to people, doesn't mean anything is in the works. Much ado about nothing. When you have good players, teams are going to be scouting them & asking about them. And if he was overwhelmed with something, why shouldn't he listen to it?

Again, look at all the talent out there. I would LOVE to trade Willis for some of the guys they are offering us.

You know, just for once, a de facto 'no' regarding a supposed franchise corner-stone sure would be refreshing.

But I guess that's too much to ask from the condescending group in charge who feel the fans are not only stupid but easily manipulated. *sigh*

I believe Loria already did that earlier this year.

Really :( . I hope its just a tease. We can never get someone good and keep them. I hate this :banghead .

I have an idea. Keep him for another year. If by then we don't get a stadium then trade him. Give us a chance to get a stadium. We need Dontrelle :fit .

This is already old news here in Chicago. The Stupid Media down here started to "float" the idea (Floating Ideas=Tampering - is what the media does down here when they want a player but want to see if the other team is interested)

Apparently, since that happened, other teams overheard this and are offering players
