  1. lmao im guessing the guy next to him is the trainer. they never really say much anyway. i heard about this happening in a thread from last night but never saw it until the ESPN highlights. In Chicago, theyre Saying that AJ planted the Cooler there, and he instigated.
  2. Did anyone see him throw the ball at the mound real hard after Borch's HR, then took a bat to the cooler Cmon, lay off Maddux. Everyone knows he is one of the nicest Guys in the Clubhouse. The water cooler didnt have to act so Smug and just sit there thinking its so cool and stuff. The water cooler had it coming. Im not saying its right, but I can see where Maddux just Snaps like a twig. All of his teammates all were saying positive stuff to him and patting him on the back, but the water cooler thinks its sooooooooo cooooooooooool and doesnt say anything. Notice how the cooler moves towards Maddux. It didnt have to do that! Stupid water cooler.
  3. Cmon Marlins! Close this OUT! Say, does Dolphin Stadium have QUESTEC I Hope? Maddux pitches "great" in parks without Questec

I knew going into the season the Tigers may have had the best lineup in the central (it's tough to say because the Sox and Tribe have awesome lineups too)...but the question was the pitching staff. I can't believe they are leading the league in team ERA right now. In fact, here is the top 10 pitchers in ERA: Contreras Chicago 1.90 Kazmir Tampa Bay 2.39 Maroth Detroit 2.45 Mussina New York 2.57 Rogers Detroit 2.91 Buehrle Chicago 2.92 Robertson Detroit 3.02 Halladay Toronto 3.04 Verlander Detroit 3.18 Santana Minnesota 3.23 That is unbelievable considering preseason expectations. Can they keep it up? I sure hope so. You know what I like about your post, with the Top 10 ERA's in AL? 7 of the 10 are in the AL CENTRAL. Not a new trend, the AL CENTRAL is the premier division right now
  5. I was at the game tonight. The best part of the whole experience (other than Jacobs's hit) was seeing those Cubs fan file out of the stadium with their heads down while I and many other Marlins fans yelled " go home cubbies, bam--- bam--bam bam bam" as we hit the plastic seats with hands and plastic beer bottles! SWEEEEEEEEEET! WELL PLAYED FanFish! Well Played. Dont let them come into your house ........... thats so refreshing to see

Yes. This teams for Real. Theyve had excellent pitching the last couple of years. The media here in chicago would often talk about how this was the "worst" division in baseball (shallow attempt at minimizing the great start the SOX were having last year) but, for a good portion of 2005, 4 of the 5 top Era's in the AL were WhiteSOX, Indians, Twins, Angels, Tigers) of course, the Media didnt look at that. Right now, theyre pitching is better than the Sox'. Its gonna be a dogfight all the way to the end. The Division Crown will boil down to Who Gives More Games away early in the season.
  7. Nice, but the whitesox are happy and better off with Thome. Maybe, but for years the Big Hurt was it for them. It's never ncie to see a player have a falling out with a club he has spent a decade and a half with. he only had a falling out with the GM, and lesser extent, Ozzie. The Fans always loved Big Frank. Idiot writer here last April wrote reason Thomas wasnt more celebrated in Chicago was because Sox fans hated him. WRONG. His first AB a couple weeks later? Standing Ovation. Writer mustve felt like a clown. Writers here had the nerve to publicly question what SOX fans would do when he comes to bat as an Athletic. Idiots. He got a Standing O. Like there was a question.
  8. Now tonite, when the stupid fanbase of the other team starts to cheer and chant, feel free to MOCK them. Make fun of their payroll. Make fun of their intelligence. Just be Proud to be Marlin fans, and dont let them get too comfortable making themselves at home. Id love to be down there and Insulting that DirtBag Barrett, heh heh, reminding him the rules of the BASELINE
  9. Really . I hope its just a tease. We can never get someone good and keep them. I hate this :banghead . I have an idea. Keep him for another year. If by then we don't get a stadium then trade him. Give us a chance to get a stadium. We need Dontrelle :fit . This is already old news here in Chicago. The Stupid Media down here started to "float" the idea (Floating Ideas=Tampering - is what the media does down here when they want a player but want to see if the other team is interested) Apparently, since that happened, other teams overheard this and are offering players
  10. The one thing you cannot deny and the basic truth is that from a national perspective the Chicago Cubs are Chicago's team. The typical baseball fan such as myself who is not from Chicago views Wrigley as a national and historical place of the utmost importance and a true landmark. I still consider Wrigley as my dream venue of any sporting event location in the world and I am sure alot share my view. I doubt any person would say the same about US cellular field. Im sure you believe this, because, as stated earlier, the TRIBUNE ENTERTAINMENT CORPORATION has told you so. 2 Million + people came to watch the Championship Parade last October. This Flew straight in the face of what the Tribune has told everyone; that its a "cubs" town, and that there are "more cub fans" than SOX fans. Where did those 2 million plus people come from? The Tribune never bothered to ask/take on that question. It was the 1st real time in their ownership history that something they said wasnt actually the Truth. This year, 3 million will go to BOTH PARKS. Where did those other people come from? Could it be that there were ALWAYS SOX FANS HERE, but they were simply not talked about by the Chicago Media (who, again own the Chicago Cubs) Typical baseball fans, since 1981, were told just how "Great" wrigley was, and how "historical" the park was, and what a "landmark" it is to baseball, and of its "utmost importance" of seeing when you get to Chicago. Im using your words not to mock you, but to Mock the system, the Media because thats What You Were Told. CUBS GREAT. SOX BAD. Wrigley-great neighborhood/GoodTimes vs. Comiskey-Bad neighborhood/Crime. The Tribune Entertainment Corporation (this is how the entity is know in case your wondering) is a MEGA corporation with bank vaults the size of football fields. Their sub-entity is the Cubs and the SOX are a direct competitor. Their job is to make their Product Look like the most Fantastic Thing Youve Ever Seen and by golly, I must visit and spend $$$$ before I leave this planet. Oh, and just ignore the White Sox 8miles south, they are crude rude fans, the neighborhood is pock full of drug houses, stabbings and shootings occur with regularity, the Park is Ugly, the Upper Deck is too high, they stink as a team, theyre not nearly as "historic" as the cubs are, and we have colder beer. Everyone not from Chicago cant help but believe all of this, because thats what you were led to believe. heck look at the same attendance records you spouted. the last 21 years have been some of the most miserable for this pathetic and inept franchise. YET, the turnstiles spin faster than ever, the park more full, the tour buses from Iowa crash into each other trying to get here, to see the great "historical" park. So again, I say to you. Dont believe everything you hear. They arent really that good a franchise. And take it from me, ive been to that park numerous times. Its not great after all. Petco is better
  11. The fact that you're posting all this proves that you are jealous of the Cubs for their history, that they have a larger fanbase, a better ballpark, or something...or more simply, you can't get over that the Cubs will always be Chicago's team, no matter what Hall of famers: Cubs: 13 White Sox: 10 The Cubs have topped the Sox in attendance 20 of the last 21 seasons, and have a far superior ballpark How many of these "Hall Of Famers" are from the 1969 team? The same team that choked away a huge lead and .............won NOTHING? (Williams, Jenkins, Banks) How many Hall of Famers were added to the hall based on HR's by a 2nd Baseman? OH, and a majority of those HomeRuns were courtesy of the 358 Foot Bozo Basket in the power alleys? (358 feet to LCenter is a flyball in ALL PARKS except wrigley) 13-4 = 9 legitimate Hall of Famers. Again, to celebrate players for LOSING isnt what most recognize. This is a team that HADNT had 2 consecutive WINNING SEASONS since NIXON was in office!!! (recently ended in 2004, 2 yrs ago) Im glad the Attendance is brought up too. Cubs attendance has SKYROCKETED while the teams fortunes have equally PLUMMETED in this same time period. Who laughs harder?
  12. Umm outside of one year, your franchise has been just as pathetic (if not more pathetic) then the Cubs. Yes you are still jealous of the CUbs, and this thread just proves it. By DISPROVING myths thrown out there by the Cubs means im Jealous? Thats Cub Math for you at work. This is the same CubMath that tells you that the Cubs have been a Superior franchise since the invention of baseball, and that the Cubs 10 WS Championships blow away the SOX' 3 Championships. Cub fans think that by being in 10 WS means they won them, but they are 2-8 in them. The White Sox have been a Very Good Franchise for quite some time, despite what the Chicago Tribune (owners of the Cubs and operators of numerous other newspapers, and the WB Network, with tv stations in almost every major tv market) tells you. Since 1950, the Chicago White SOX have 13 90-win Seasons (and were not counting the strike-shortened 94 season). Thats pretty darned good. Since 1950, the Cubs have .........3. Pathetic But wait, how could the cubs have been that good, yet only had THREE 90-win seasons in a 162 gm season? Theres more ........... Since 1950, The Chicago White Sox have stumbled and LOST 90 games 8 times in their history. The Cubs? Since 1950, The storied and ballyhooed Cubs have lost 90 games 16 Times! Incredible. Since the advent of the American League in 1901, The Chicago White Sox have had a "Winning" season 58 times. In that same time period, the Cubs have had a "winning" season 48 Times. BUT, since 1950, the "Winning" seasons dwindle to only 14. FOURTEEN! That means since 1950, this has been one of the more INEPT franchises in all sports. yet, were sold on this being a great team. SOX fans dont buy it. Dont you buy it either Marlin Fans. You guys already have 2 Championships! The Same amount They Have! hahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha. That means, of the Cubs' 48 "Winning Seasons", a Majority of them occured (34) of them occured BEFORE 1950!!!! (and before there were MORE TEAMS able to beat the cubs on a regular basis) The SOX in this span? Just the Opposite. Theyve enjoyed 34 WINNING seasons since 1950. Numbers Dont Lie. The Tribune does however. The Cubs' "popularity" directly coincides with the Tribune buying the team in 1981. Before then, the park was just as empty, desolate and ugly as any other park in the majors. What happened was a full-court press being administered in the general media. Since the Tribune bought the Cubs and sold them as one of the more "historic" franchises in Baseball (hahahahaha), the Cubs have had some of their WORST seasons in this same time Period. The Cubs managed to LOSE 90+ Plus Games in 1997, 1999, 2000, 2002. These same years saw the Cubs BREAK CLUB ATTENDANCE RECORDS. AMAZING! If you cant sell winning baseball, sell Sunshine. Sell the park. Wrigley is Great. People from other parts of the country started believing this. Wrigley Fans are the "smartest" in baseball weve been told time and again. Sure, Cheering for popups, not knowing the score during the game, forgetting players on the team, mistaking Replayed HR's as RealTime HR's (this really happened, during the 98 playoffs against the Braves. Unbelievable.) I couldnt even begin to tell you how false that statement is, but thats another day. SO yeah, were very jealous of the cubs long and storied history, heh heh heh.
  13. Cubs and White Sox aren't just divided by media attention, the fan base, etc. It's also an economic thing. The south side is poorer then the north side and which also creates a type of conflict and difference in the type of fan base. This is another Myth that the Tribune/Cubs have lobbed out there for years. Couldnt be farther from the truth. The area immediately surrounding US Cellular Field is home to some of the most expensive homes in the area. The area has been gentrifying for the last 20 years, with Lofts even being built in former warehouse space. The Near South Side (area next to US CELL) and Bridgport have some of the MOST EXPENSIVE HOUSING in the city, and has been the hottest market for the last couple of decades. But if you read the Tribune, they'll tell you how "Dangerous" the area is, how "Crime-Infested" it is, and is frequently still referred to as the "ghetto". Though the area around then Comiskey was a little sketchy back in the late 1960's and 1970's, the area has rebounded quite nicely. That hasnt stopped the Chicago Media from continueing to paint SOX fans as tatooed hooligans who run on the field frequently, and the area around the ballpark as full of Run-Down Housing, Beggars in the Streets, drug houses and gangs running the streets. Dont expect to hear any of this in the Trib or SunTimes though. The economic thing they keep peddling .................also doesnt work. http://rds.yahoo.com/_ylt=A0geuspfu2xE0SsB...s_March2005.htm
  14. So you say You dont believe it when I say the Cubs/Tribune Entertainment Corporation SELL LOSING and why in the world would they do that? Well the cubs cant win, so you sell losing, and its cool, and so is the park. Heres some proof. They actually had Babe Ruth Jersey day recently there. Babe Ruth? Wasnt he a Yankee ? He never played for the Cubs. The Cubs celebrated him hitting a homerun against them, beating them in the World Series. Sox Fans Laughed hard .................. http://chicago.cubs.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/new...t=.jsp&c_id=chc
  15. White Sox fans are definitely jealous of the Cubs. The White Sox are just an un-sexy team. Sure they are very good right now, but they still aren't exciting or going to bring in loads of new fans. They don't have a superstar (imo), the most flamboyant aspects of their team is their manager and GM (exciting, huh?) and it's only fitting that they have a monochromatic color scheme. The Cubs will always have a large fan base because it's easy for the general public to root for the underdog (I think that's lame in itself, but I'm not getting into that) and they are just kindof a fun loving well known team. Cubs and White Sox aren't just divided by media attention, the fan base, etc. It's also an economic thing. The south side is poorer then the north side and which also creates a type of conflict and difference in the type of fan base. Cub fans are represenative as America as a whole right now. We never want anything to become to big and too powerful or two successful so we crap on those things (teams such as the Yankees and players...the next to come is Pujols as his game and numbers get bigger and bigger). No one accepts the best anymore so they tear it down and root for the little engine that could instead of embracing the best of something. It's lame, but thats how it will continue to be. These are the kinds of MYTHS that I try to DISPELL everytime I go somewhere. The SOX arent exciting? I thought last season and the playoffs were some of the most exciting. The SOX ironically are the UNDERDOGS, the cubs being owned by a Humongous Mega-Corporation that prints money. The Cubs have never had a good farm system, and because they now Print Money at Wrigley, the Cubs have ironically become the GOLIATH of baseball. Going to the Pirates/DevilRays/Marlins' of the world to acquire players. The SOX are the real underdogs. (in 2003, the Chicago Media painted the NLCS as the "underdog" Cubs vs. the world-marlins, pathetic because people bought into it) Im not sure where the notion came about, that people like cheering for Losers, but methinks it was generated by the Chicago Tribune (who own the Cubs) and mythologized in many newspapers (Tribune owns a ton of newspapers) and tv stations (Tribune owns the WB Network). As a life-long, die-hard SOX fan, I humbly beg to differ. 1/2 the City DOES NOT LIKE cheering for Losers. Those are SOX fans. the other 1/2? Well, you can see why they fill that park daily, and pay scalped ticket prices (which their own team RESELLS to its own fans HAHAHAHAHAHA) to watch a mediocre team. Winning is Boring and Losing is Sexy is what the Tribune sells in Chicago. SOX Fans arent buying it. Everybody else is unfortuneately.
  16. As a member of the Chicagoland area I can tell with 100% confidence that Sox fans still are jealous of the Cubs and their fans. It is the most retarded thing in the world. whats retarded and inexplicable, is the complete lust the Media has for that team. YES. Hes right you know. SOX Fans are jealous of the Cubs, a pathetic franchise for over a century. A franchise that, since 1990 has ZERO 90-win seasons (1998 doesnt count, took 163 games). Since 1950, do you know how many 90-win seasons the glorified, championship cubs have? THREE! That pretty much tells you just how miserable that franchise is. Yet their fans, like sheep, pack by the busload from Iowa, Indiana, Wisconsin to watch one of the most Inept Franchises in memory. Do you realize that if the Marlins can win just ONE MORE Championship, they'll have as many as the Cubs? HAHAHAHHAHAHAHAA. Yes, were very jealous of a 5th place team, 4th place in 04 team. The only thing they have on us is the unabashed love from the Media (can you say conflict of interest?) which, no surprise, they OWN.
  17. yes lots of depth. Most likely Garland gets moved in the offseason
  18. ..................... and try and count the days until the cast comes off D Lee's hand. I hear it could be three months+ before he's ready to suit up again. Derrek Lee is gone. Life goes on. The only real issue is how badly we took advantage of Chicago in the Nolasco, Pinto and Mitre for Pierre trade. If that sets any kind of benchmark or is any indication of what Chicago would pay up for a Willis or Cabrera, nevermind both, the mind boogles at what the offer would be. Yes, there are some teams, and you know the west coast teams I'm talking about, with the pool of talent to at least get a listen to, but Chicago, personally I don't see it. Im hoping that cast stays on indefinitely ........... then we'll see what they do/who they blame
  19. http://www.findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_...08/ai_n13916835 Those are some of the most "loyal" fans in baseball.
  20. Jesus christ (sorry to use the lord's name in vain)...the White Sox are the World Champions. Stop worrying about the Cubs so damn much and move on. Forgiven. HEH HEH, Heh
  21. Not sure if you guys knew about this either, but a Cub Fan was Shot and Killed directly in front of Wrigley Field after a game in May of 04. If anyone has ever been there, its very crowded and urban, and fans were crossing out of the stadium and across the street. Another Cub Fan, who was later discovered to be driving to the area to "party", got into an altercation with the other fan, got out of the car in the middle of the street and shot the fan dead. When this happened, about 2 hrs after the game ended, newsmedia was there, but curiously, they reported it as a "traffic altercation", and every single TV crew that was in the area, pointed the cameras AWAY from Wrigley, so as not to show the famous "marquee" sign, and they started reporting it as "customer shot in front of Cubby Bear Lounge". It was ridiculous the lengths they were going to NOT report this. BOTH newspapers the next day BURIED the story, the Tribune putting it on page 3 of the Metro News Section, and the SunTimes also doing the same. It wasnt until SOX fans' uproar to the Media that the day after, (2 whole days after the incident) was it then reported as a news story, however it was then upgraded as a "traffic altercation" and that it didnt involve cub fans, because the game had ended 2 hrs earlier, and it was in the street (which is 10 feet away from the park) Yet, both papers regularly tell you how "bad" the neighborhood is around US Cellular Field, while Wrigley is Nirvana on Earth. Hope you guys dont think that was US that did that. Have a nice day and Go Fish
  22. A drunken cub fan (like we didnt know that already) Intentionally whipped a baseball at RF Jacque Jones and missed hitting his face by a couple of inches. He was angry and summoned security and the Girl who threw the ball was escorted from the stands. Yikes. Thats horrible. Yes, it is. Had this happened at a White Sox game, this wouldve been FRONT PAGE blaring headlines, complete with ESPN telling us how "bad" sox fans are. 2 yrs ago, there was an incident, in which a cub "fan" threw a CellPhone from the Upper Deck and JustMissed hitting a Padre player. A cell phone hurled from that distance is very dangerous. The Padre player complained and handed the phone to security. It was swept under the rug of course, with the explanation that a fan may have just dropped it accidentally.
  23. For those of you not in the Chicago area, I do find it telling that most think that the White Sox "dont have fans", when that couldnt be farther from the truth. The SOX this season are on pace for 3 million fans. The exact same amount as the other team. The media here operates under the Prefer & Promote principle. They prefer and promote the other team as much as humanly and legally possible. Thats why everyone thnks we dont have fans. Because they keep telling everyone we dont. Thats also why everyone thinks that ballpark is the "most beautiful", because they keep telling everyone it is. They also keep telling people our park is the Worst in baseball and Ugliest. You get the picture. thanks for your time
  24. not sure how much you guys know about this, as the Media is in FULL SPIN CONTROL right now. A drunken cub fan (like we didnt know that already) Intentionally whipped a baseball at RF Jacque Jones and missed hitting his face by a couple of inches. He was angry and summoned security and the Girl who threw the ball was escorted from the stands. This delayed the beginning of the 9th inning, and the Cub broadcast tried to cover this up (There have been at least 7 incidents like this at the "friendly confines", but all the media wants you to know is how "loyal" their fans are, how SOX fans are brutes, none of us go to games, and we attack umpires everyday) http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseb...i-sportsnew-hed
