June 22, 200620 yr I believe it. Best part is that guy got fired for something that's probably company policy. You know they have a list of things to say, questions to ask.
June 22, 200620 yr I experienced a 4 month fight with Nextel, over a brand new phone I got which wasn't working properly. Finally, I told them that they were in violation of our service agreement. The first sentence of the agreement states, "Your complete satisfaction is our number one goal." I had them by the gonads right there! I told them that my laywer was on the phone with me (I had my son talk!!) and, yes- by violiating the agreement, I could take them to court and sue them for damages. Oh, boy! Then, they started listening. The supervisor asked what I wanted. I told him what you see below. He agreed- without any hesitation. The result- I got full credit for the phone I bought ($200). I got a new phone free ($400). I got the car charger and an extra charger free ($60). And, they won a customer for life. It's a shame when you have to constantly talk to the 'little people' They won't bump you up until you tell your story like 145 friggin' times. Now- I just go directly to corporate services. I talk- they listen. The company that has impecable customer service will make a fortune these days.
June 22, 200620 yr Just another reason AOL is a useless product. I think you misspelled it: It should be: AOHELL
June 22, 200620 yr Im glad AOL is being exposed because a lot of people without much computer experience dont see that they have options. I went through something similiar last year when I used a trial period just because I needed some free internet. They have horrible customer service. It's amazing that they sit there and try and make it single issues. And yenta, youre absolutely correct. Companies that have good customer service are so much more appealing. You would think they would realize this. But they prefer to just create the illusion that they have good customer service. Capital One is notorius for this. No hassle my ass.
June 22, 200620 yr Customer Service is a JOKE and a companies BEST freind. If it takes you MORE than 10 minutes to get your point across, they are taking advantage of you. I learned from my older sister that you have to be an A-hole to these guies or they will keep taking advantage of you. I think one of the worst patterns I have noticed recently especially with Dell is that they have foreigners or people with poor speaking or hard-to-understand accents answer your questions, I don't know if it's just a coinsidence but it obviously forces you to constantly ask them to repeat questions. They are always asking you pointless questions and always have to state they only care about you every 3 sentenses even if you are just asking how to turn off a computer.
June 22, 200620 yr You know that AOL response is total horsesh*t too. They'll do it over & over, and drill it into their reps and then act shocked and disgusted when someone actually calls them on it.
June 23, 200620 yr I signed up for a trial AOL account like 5 years ago that I could cancel at any time within 30 days without being charged, well after about 2 weeks I called to cancel it and I went through something similar, though it only took about 10 minutes of arguing to get it cancelled.
June 23, 200620 yr I'll say this about AOL...when they had the trial 3 1/2 floppies, I'd grab a few and re-format...in grad school, I never had to but any floppies Calling customer service at my ISP...I'm calling Bombay..and it's when you HINT about cancelling that they kiss your ass. Hard to understand them 95% of the time. How many people from Bombay are named "Floyd?" Reminds me of that bit Neil Rogers used to play about buying cigarettes at a convenience store... A few good things about those trial CDs...forming a band? Get a trial disc and look at the password...that's your band's name. Plus you can use the discs as coaster or hang it from your rear view..or use them in a collage...
June 23, 200620 yr a little off the subject of AOL(which I haven't used since 1996 as a pay service). but an example, IMO, of great customer service is verizon wireless. I get through to them quickly whenever I have a question and without any bullcrap, I get my answer. They ask me if I need anything else and thank me for my call and I'm off within minutes of the initial dialing. The point about great customer service means a well off company is true. In my mind, I'll be with this company for a very long time.
