June 29, 200620 yr READY TO ROCK'Second baseman Dan Uggla, who has missed eight games with a strained hamstring, said he would be ready to play in Friday's opener of a three-game series against the Boston Red Sox. ''I'm ready to rock,'' he said after taking ground balls and running the bases during batting practice Wednesday. But that doesn't mean he will play. Uggla admitted he gained weight during his week on the bench, and he didn't look sharp during infield drills. ''We'll see how he wakes up [today] and then Friday,'' Girardi said. Uggla hurt himself in the first game of the team's last road trip, lunging for first base trying to beat out a grounder. And he said the time on the sidelines has been educational. ''It's been frustrating, but it's also been like a learning experience, too,'' said Uggla, who had never missed more than two consecutive games to injury in his professional career. ``It lets you know that I have to pay that much more attention to detail. Hit the bag with the foot I need to hit it with. Little things like that.'' June 29, 200620 yr He probably did tweak it and knowing how hard-nosed he is, he wanted to run hard to first . I hope this is not lingering like Dookie's stuff last year. I think hamstring's are one of those injuries that really take a long time to heal 100% and the players just stick it out most of the time.

There is one difference though Red Sox fans are normally very intelligent fans. They know often their organization in and out, where alot of the other "big markets" dont.

June 29, 200620 yr While I preferred the old Legal Seafoods (before the "good" fire and messy divorce) to the new, they are terrific restaurants if you like chains. The No Name, no big deal, ate there a hundred times with clients and not once by choice. Now Pizzeria Regina (the one on Thatcher Street, the rest suck) and Umbertos make pretty fine pies without question, and I've never been a fan of NYC's favored thin crust myself, so that one I'd give to Boston hands down. Chinatown...sheesh, doesn't hold a candle to NYC's and neither to San Francisco's. I can tell you're not well traveled. And the Hilltop, give me a break, it's for peasants. There are twenty better steakhouses in America than the Hilltop from Ruth's Chris, to Smith and Wollensky, to the Chop House in Chicago, to Peter Luger's in NYC. Since Frank retired it's never been the same. Generally Boston is sadly lacking to NYC and other large cities gastronomically. But like I said, they do make a fine pie.

You're right..Hilltop's isn't the best in Boston..it's certainly the best in SAUGUS Ya its some stupid rule from the early 1800's where you have to sell beer, or any adult beverage for that matter, at the same price throughtout the week. So once a week you can adjust prices. I know in 2004 when the redsox were in the playoffs alot of bars raised prices because they new the bars would be packed. What most places do is discount the price of food during "happy hour". do you ever go to border cafe in saugus or kowloons?
June 29, 200620 yr Yeah...must be nice to intefere with HR balls that are catchable...to attack visiting fans outside of Yankee Stadium. i was just at Yankee Stadium and aside form 1 fan hitting me with a towel (there is a crazy in EVERY bunch, and we were all frustrated after the rainout), and one wierdo that didn't like my "hot breath on her ear" everyone was very nice and nobody gave me truble and some even talked to me about being from Florida and really enjoyed the fact that I came up for the game! I was talking to a vendor about the Heat for about 15 mins!
