July 29, 200619 yr Marlins wont budge... Teams arent offering enough! Stick it to them fish... LHP Dontrelle Willis Contract status: Signed through 2006 July 29: The Globe & Mail reported on Friday that Jays GM J.P. Ricciardi has told the Florida Marlins that he wants to be part of any trade discussion involving Dontrelle Willis. The Miami Herald reports that the New York Mets also were expected to inquire again about Willis this weekend, but the Marlins have said he's off limits. The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that the Cardinals may be prepared to make a final pass at Willis but aren't optimistic. MLB.COM
July 29, 200619 yr the blue jays have nothing to offer us, the Cards wouldnt have enough, and the mets wouldnt be an option
July 29, 200619 yr earlier in the year in my mind Willis was off limits but at this point I think if we get overwhelmed with a top flight pitching prospect , a top flight outfield prospect , and another top prospect i would not be against moving Willis . As much as I respect the D-Train for the way he plays the game he is replaceable from a baseball stand point now from a public relations point of view that is another story
July 30, 200619 yr ^^^ well said...I'd miss him and all he represents...but for the right price, I dont consider him untouchable in the same way that Cabrera is...I cant believe I even said that, its kinda sad...but its true :confused
July 30, 200619 yr how about a CF or stud catching spect? Isn't 2007 supposed to be a year with a better draft at those positions? Catchers and Outfielders are the trend in upcoming high school/college stars lately....or at least here in the Southeast. Look at McCann in Atlanta.
July 30, 200619 yr We have the most stacked farm system in MLB basically. What more can they offer? LF, CF, C prospects.
July 30, 200619 yr Apparently the White Sox made a very good offer for Dontrelle and were shot down. Good from the Marlins perspective or good from the White Sox perspective... :mischief2
July 30, 200619 yr You guys are giving Willis less and less value each day just because he isn't pitching like last year. Remember on 2003 when he started great and he didn't made the playoffs as a starter. Look at the willis of last year a little more and not the one from this year. What he did last year isn't a fluck, plus he's still young and a left hander. Now because the other great rookies are doing great you are gonna say willis is less than them? Give him a break, in my opinion he's just trying to hard.
July 30, 200619 yr how about a CF or stud catching spect? Brett yea, I said stud... Ye shall see the studity of this man in the nigh fewtcha

July 30, 200619 yr I wouldn't mind seeing willis traded if it was a great trade offer and involved positions that we needed (CF, C, etc.) I think he could bring us a great package. I would hate to see him leave, but everybody has a price and if it were very good deal I wouldn't be oppossed to it. We have lots of talented starters that are up here ready to get an everyday shot and could easily replace Willis. I think his trade value is as high as it will be because of last season, I don't see him having a season again like last, so just my 2 cents. It would have to be a great offer. But I'd listen.
