Chilling 9/11 call

I hope he's ok.

but to be postrf on the web- totally insensitive to the families of all of the victims.

And I'm sure this isn't the only tape.

And I'll bet there are kids out there thinking, "How cool- someone is dying and I'm listening as it's happening!"

Sick and disgusting.

It's not insensitive, it needs to be seen.

Otherwise, people will just think of 9/11 as it was and will be portrayed by Hollywood, which is sick and disgusting.

There are horrific car accident tapes which are shown to give people a wake up call. Everyone has been to drivers ed and seen horrific car accidents that were the result of DUI's and whatnot, this is no different and should be shown in high school classrooms across the nation.

People are already forgetting about 9/11 and when the words "nine eleven" are mentioned, people no longer think of America being attacked or the horrific events which unfolded that day, people now automatically think politics and other crap. Not so when videos like this are released, when you watch this it brings you back to that day and it doesn't matter what your political affiliation is.

I think thats really disrespectful to put something like this up.

I will not watch it. Its just disrespectful to the family.

I never watched the decapitation clip that surfaced. I felt the same way about that.

ditto. This was the last moment of a guy's life in sheer terror. I don't think it does anyone any good. I'm well aware of what happened. Despite not having a "never forget" bumper sticker on my car, I actually haven't forgotten 9/11 occurred, or the nightmare that we all went through during it.

If that guy is up in heaven somewhere I personally don't think he'd want the last moments of his life downloaded ten million times on f*cking YouTube. But hey I'm wierd that way.

To each his own.

It helps us not only remember...but to understand.

understand what?

If he's in heaven, I doubt he gives a sh*t.

That thing was like 5-8 minutes long, how did you not just turn it off at some point? I know I didn't even come close to the actual beheading part. I was like, "Not for me." This one isn't to that level, I don't think. I mean, it doesn't make you feel good, but to each their own.

understand what?

understand what those people were thinking and feeling while inside that building. I have never heard an actual 'death yell' from 9/11 before. I mean, immediately following that (and watching the building crashing at the same time) brought a tear streaking down my cheek.

I think thats really disrespectful to put something like this up.

It takes them a couple of minutes to get through the neck. You must be really slow if you saw the whole thing before you figured out what the x in the upper right hand corner does.

Or maybe you saw the sped up version with the Benny Hill music played behind it I heard is going around.

On the NBC Nightly News tonight they said that the only reason these tapes were released was because the families fought to have them released.

Here's a working link to the Kevin Cosgrove Video. The other one was taken down by YouTube for violating some policy that this same exact video apparently does not.

I watched it three times in a row. I had almost forgotten just how scared I was that day. I then went to Kevin's site on Legacy.com and read some of the entries from people who knew him.

I can't imagine how frustrating it must have been for him to deal with that dispatcher in that kind of heat, smoke, and fear. These are the types of things that remind me why I bust my @ss as a Volunteer Firefighter in New York.

Wow. That last part was extremely chilling.

Yeah - you can hear him getting more and more frustrated with the operator. He's also becomming more and more scared as the smoke is overtaking their office.

The REALLY chilling part is how he finally starts to calm down and pass along information about 30 seconds before it all ends. And the dispatcher never answered his question, "What the [heck] happened?!"
