Seems like there attendane is fizzling out now. Len said the past few games the attendance is getting worse. I am watching the game right now and the bleechers are empty.

except one thing...they aren't two of the worst, they are the two worst (considering that KC and Tampa Bay have much tougher schedules)

There were 30K tickets handed out, but like 8,000 used. Kind of like that camp game that came in at 25 but looked like 11.

 

Games with "comp" aberrations don't count.

I'm just saying that they will be more nervous, but hopefully they can also step up their play. I think they're playing their hardest already, a big crowd or not won't change it.

I wonder if Anibal would have pitched the no-no in a sold out stadium? It might have been a blessing in disguise that there were only like 3k people there last night.

It's September, they are playing the Pirates, and it was a 1:20 Thursday game. I still think they will be sold out through August within 3 hours of box office open this winter though, that's why they will always be the Cubs, no pressure to win, making tons of money, just do enough to appear to care to your sheep fans. I could go on further, but I will stick to the obvious facts.

It's not like they aren't trying...they have a $95 million payroll, and they'd be a first place team if Prior and Wood were to stay healthy for an entire year (not to mention Derek Lee)...they have the talent, just not the health (plus having the worst manager in baseball doesn't help)

The Tribune Co. has 3 times as much (to be conservative) money as Steinbrenner, so that payroll is still tiny. Hell, they spend less than we do this year, and they have more money in every way possible. The Cubs spend just enough on 2nd tier free agents to keep the sheep happy and sell out the joint. Then they suck, and do it all over again. It's a cycle almost a decade old now, and until the fans stop showing up, it won't change. Well that, and as long as Jim Hendry is GM, and Dusty is manager, it won't change. You could give those 2 all the green in the currency department and it would mean little.
