October 5, 200322 yr Before the NLDS against the fated Giants began I made a prediction that there would be two special people who carried the Marlins to the World Series and beyond. I predicted that Juan Encarnacion and Derrek Lee would take us to the promised land, and it seems that you folks agreed. Well, since I posted that, Enc has been not much short of the weak link in the line-up, and Derrek Lee has looked more like a minor leaguer than the Marlins all-time HR leader. This triggers the question: Is the postseason pressure too much forthese great sluggers?
October 5, 200322 yr DLee went 4-16 and had 3 clutch "hits" today :shifty Enc hit that big home run in Game 2, but didn't do much else. It's too early to say the pressure is getting to them, it was only 4 games and it's not like they didn't do anything at all. I mean if Lee goes 3 for 4 on Tuesday night he's hitting well over .300 in the post-season, so I think it's too early to get worried about them. Enc's lying in the weeds.
October 5, 200322 yr lee did decent today. juan has been stellar defensively. take what you can get folks.
October 5, 200322 yr Today Cabs stepped up big time. Every day a new person will carry the team wednesday = JP + Pavano Friday = Pudge Saturday = Cabs + 9er + Pudge in my opinion =P
October 5, 200322 yr I think everyone on this team is capable of getting hot. Which means any day out there, you will have someone take over. Just look at Miggy Cabrera - 0-8 through the first couple of games, then look at what he did yesterday. Even A Gon got a crucial walk there at the end... Encarnacion has played great defense. Compare his production to Cruz's... Lee has played excellent D and has been solid on offense. Compare to Snow... You may see a pattern here emerging. We are better than the other team and that is why we win. We execute in all facets of the game. Even when we cant hit (like Friday) we put the pressure on by getting on base with speed.
October 5, 200322 yr Author The reason I'm saying this is because we will need all the offense we can get if we face the Cubs.
