You weren't banned for calling me stupid, you were banned for some off the wall offensive comment about the holocaust or something along those lines.

 

And if you think Das gives me any slack, you're kidding yourself. I've been banned 4 times in the past month, most recently last week - it's just on this forum there is no "Banned" usergroup or something that you get put into, so nobody knows you're actually banned, they just think you're not posting. But i've been banned more times than you can count on two hands. If you ever notice me not posting for several days, chances are I was banned.

 

And sorry, but taking karate will not stop a madman for putting a bullet in your head. It doesn't matter what level you're at, you're not Jet Li, you're not in the movies, and you're not going to stop a bullet with your bare hand. You meet deadly force with deadly force, and anything less is unacceptable and you're just playing with your life. Is that to say taking karate or something of that sort for self defense is a waste of time? Absolutely not. All Marines go through the MCMAP (Marine Corps Martial Arts Program) which is heavy on submission, grappling, and other things, it's pretty cool stuff and you work your way up to several degrees of black belts which takes about 10 to 15 years if you're dedicated, all Marines coming out of boot graduate with a tan belt and once i'm in I hope to progress all the way. But is any of this a substitute for a firearm? No. If you can give yourself an advantage over the threat, then why on earth wouldn't you take it? Sure, you may have to take their life, but at the same time you're preserving the lives of dozens of more people, including your own.

 

And do not lecture me on going more than 2 or 3 posts without an insult, your first post in this thread compared me to Charles f***ing Manson for god sakes (WTF????), and your second post compares me to Stalin, again WTF? You need to look in the mirror and seriously heed your own advice.

You are completely and utterly wrong. Firearms are used many many many more times to save lives in America than take them. I would be happy to discuss gun control and the morality of being a gun owner, but only once you have educated yourself on the actual and true facts.

About your argument in regards to "honor," who are you, the Highlander? If i have to defend myself i'm not looking for any honor, i'm looking to SURVIVE. Perhaps it would be more honorable to knock a bad guy out with a baseball bat...only to have him wake up staked to a fireant bed with honey on his nuts? It's like you're living in the past when killing others was an accepted means of settling disputes or something and you would meet at dawn for a duel.

 

What honor does a BG use when selecting a victim, does he seek out someone that appears to be evenly matched or does he look for perceived weakness? Will the BG go for the little old lady, or the 6'4" 245 pound former college linebacker? Honor... please. You do what you need to do to survive, that's it. If you ever find yourself in a fair fight, you made a very serious mistake somewhere along the way.

 

Beyond which, in a life or death situation, merely drawing your weapon without even firing it is enough to end the threat. BG tries to mug you and draw down and tell the BG to get his ass on the ground, it's quite likely he's going to comply and if he doesn't then he just decided his own fate. You cannot just pull out your fists and tell someone to STOP and get on the ground, you will actually have to get violent and physically subdue the attacker which is a risk nobody should be willing to take. The statistics of law abiding citizens using firearms millions of times each year to thwart an attack without firing a single shot is proof positive of this.

 

I believe your thought process is something along the lines of how we all were young and felt indestructible and untouchable at one point, some people grow up and realize this is just not how things really are, but other people never grow out of it and still feel that way, young and indestructible. I believe you are so far entrenched into your own misguided beliefs that only a personal experience will leave a lasting mark on you.

 

All of your posts on this matter are clearly based out of misconceptions and pure emotion. You keep repeating things like "I mean, really..." which is basically a euphemism for "I know i'm wrong, but I feel..."

 

Now onto your claims of a bad guy being "better trained" than your average person carrying concealed. Wow... just wow, this speaks volumes of your ignorance. I love how you say that "anyone can kill with a gun because it is so easy to do" but then you try and talk about how badguys are probably better trained and better armed than your average person with a CCW. Well if it is so damned easy, then what does the skill level of the badguy have to do with anything? Clearly you have never shot a gun before and I want you to back your statement up with facts. There is a ton of quality civilian training out there and most people that are responsible enough to go through the process of buying a gun and obtaining a concealed weapons license takes it upon themselves to seek out that training, civilian firearms training is a major industry and business in this country.

 

And the last part about the Constitution being the 'document on our rights' and our founding fathers not approving of the current state of firearms in this country is just sad. You're absolutely right our founding fathers would not approve of our current situation on guns... they sure as hell would never approve of gun registration and other things of that nature. The reason there is no gun registration in Florida and countless other states is because the courts have ruled it to be unconstitutional. If the text of the 2nd Amendment isn't enough for you, there are a bunch of quotes from our founding fathers that make it perfectly obvious what they had in mind with the 2A, and i'll gladly post them if you so desire. If this isn't enough for you, the right to self defense is a god given right, it states in The Talmud: "If someone comes to kill you, arise quickly and kill him."

 

Your argument that "only police and military" should have firearms is absurd. Just because someone is a police officer or in the military doesn't mean they're proficient in the use of their weapon, Jessica Lynch is a perfect example of this. Also, most police departments only require you to qualify once or twice a year and they'll give you one box of ammo a month for practice, that is not enough to stay proficient and the only way to stay proficient is to take it upon yourself to seek out your own training and the like. Most officers do seek out lot's of additional training, I regularly attend Eagle Tactics courses in Homestead and more often than not half the class are police officers, they're all great guys and i'm proud to have them protecting the community, but there are also officers who don't seek out additional training and only fire their weapons twice a year at qualifications.

 

Unless you're in combat arms, most soldiers in the army only touch an M16 once a year during qualifications and they get a few days of practice the week before and that's it unless they're on a workup for a deployment - that's it! This is not enough to survive in combat. You need to understand the police are not your personal bodyguards and they cannot protect you 24/7, if you're in trouble and you call 911, they'll move heaven and earth to try and save and you god bless every single one of them for it, but you need to ultimately be responsible for yourself.

 

Next time someone tries to mug me, I'll puff my chest out and say "DUEL AT DAWN WITH OUR PICARDS!" The "honor" in combat is not the same as the "honor" in football and every single one of your arguments is based on emotions and fear of the unknown, nothing more. I'm hearing nothing from you which even remotely suggests that you have any real world experience, except for being in a school classroom, which, come to think of it has seemingly succeeded in neutering your survival instincts.
