October 6, 200322 yr Well, it seems to me that the skipper will throw Cabrera out there for game one after his performance in Game 4 of the NLDS against the Giants. What do you think Mckeon will do after the first game?, considering if Cabrera has a bad first game and the fact that Lowell's hand might still be a little sore...remember Prior might start game 2. I think Cabrera will play the first 2 games definetely. Any opinions ?
October 6, 200322 yr I see Cabrera coming off the bench again in game 1. I wish we could field 10 guys at a time to give conine, cabs, and lowell all equal time.
October 6, 200322 yr I'd start Cabrera in Game 1 and then make it a game-by-game decision who starts after that.
October 6, 200322 yr Cabs is hot right now. You don't want to take a hot bat like his out of the line-up in the biggest series yet! IMO he will start Game 1.
October 6, 200322 yr You've gotta start Cabrera. I wouldn't be surprised if Lowell didn't start til the World SerieS
October 6, 200322 yr I'm not sure if Cabrera can hit quaility picthers like Wood and Pryor. I would rather have the veteran out there in Lowell. But, we will have to see and wait.
October 6, 200322 yr I think Cabrera should start but if he shows that he cannot handle the Cubs pitchers then Lowell should be put in to get that experience in there.

October 6, 200322 yr In my opinion, for this series, Cabrera should only come in to play in a double-switch situation for Conine or Lowell.
October 6, 200322 yr Author if Lowell ain't 100 % how do u expect him to catch up to Prior and Wood's fast ball...call me crazy but i rather see the young and fearless miggy up there in the first couple of games and then go from there.
October 6, 200322 yr Its very tempting to ride the hot bat of Cabs right now (a 1 game hot bat) but I still think Lowell is the man to go with. He's the one that led the charge all year and he deserves to start. Don't get me wrong, I'd love to have Cabs in there for every out but when it comes down to it, I'd start Lowell. I don't think he'll have any more trouble catching up to Wood and Prior than anybody else on the team. If he does though, PUT IN THE KID
October 6, 200322 yr Author i really feel bad for mikey because i know he wants to be out there every game and he should but i heard jack say in an interview that he's going to go with what's hot so i guess its going to be cabrera for now.
October 6, 200322 yr Whatever Jack says, I agree with. If Jack says Piss is the new gatorade, I'm getting a bucket
October 6, 200322 yr I don't know how you can bench Cabrera in game 1 after basically winning game 4 for us.
October 6, 200322 yr I don't know how you can bench Cabrera in game 1 after basically winning game 4 for us. Its not like its a punishment. You also have to look at what he did in the first 3 games of the NLDS. He hit the ball beautifully in game 4 though................. AAAAARGGGGGGHHHH, I'm so TORN
October 6, 200322 yr Gotta go with Cabs. Lowell is still not 100% anyway. But like Derek Lee said, with McKeon's magic touch lately, he could probably start Mark Redman at second base & he'd get 2 hits.
October 6, 200322 yr If anything this just looks good if and when we do make it the World Series. Lowell DHing with Cabs at 3rd or vice versa. That's some great offense all the way around.
October 6, 200322 yr Anything else would be dissing the guy who was most responsible for getting us here. I might get killed for saying this, but Cabrera is just as big a reason we are here as Lowell. Mike was our first half MVP, Cabs was our second half MVP. Both are/will be stars. You can't go wrong either way, but you can't say that you shoud play Mike because we owe it to him, because we owe just as much to Miguel.
October 6, 200322 yr Yes,Cabrera needs to start...He's on a hot streak and Lowell is just returning from injury,Lowell can be used as a pinch hitter. Conine will continue to start in left. If we make it to World Series...I would put Cabrera as the DH. Lowell is more experienced in the field and Cabrera is libel to make some bad choices defensively with him being a rookie.
