Most Overrated Team of All Time

Featured Replies

Teams that won Championships CAN'T be overrated. I mean, they were talked about and lived up to their expectations. Unless they were an underdog. But underdogs are never talked about anyway. So the Lakers, Marlins, and Heat aren't overrated. Lakers won 3 in a row, doesn't that deserve conversation? Marlins were the underdog. That postseason, ESPN analyst did their picks at ESPN.com and not one single person had the Marlins going to the World Series. NOT ONE. Every other team had at least 2 people pick them. As for the Heat, I don't really gotta say anything. Got Shaq, got Wade, played healthy, won. Bitch about the refs all you want. No one even talks about the Heat as a team. It's always about Wade now. And for good reason since he's in the top 3 players in the league. I don't get what was overrated about that 05-06 Heat team. As for my picks.

1) Kevin Garnett Timberwolves. It seems that last year people finally stopped picking them after they found out that Garnett can't do sh*t by himself and without another big time scorer. They've only made it out of the 1st Round ONCE since they've had KG. In 8 tries. But every year they were picked to go far.

2) Recent Yankee teams. Like the Wolves, getting to the play-offs don't mean sh*t unless you do something. Stop living in the past. Just because you've won 26 World Series' doesn't mean you can throw together any great players and expect to win the WS. No one seems to know that. Not the Yanks, not ESPN, not the writers, or the stupid experts. Everyone just continues to think that because they've done it before, they can do it again. Yet, only 4 players remain from the last WS team.

3) 05-06 Rockets. I don't care if they were injured, it was so annoying to hear about how they're the next Shaq & Kobe every single time they played. Hell, we still get that dumbass talk. They have potential but both of them don't even know what healthy means. They've been picked by a lot of people to win the Championship this year but why? They haven't proven anything. Teams that look good on paper don't always do so well. Look at my 2nd choice for an example.

I don't know what NBA Finals you were all watching, but I digress.

Yes they can, because these teams do not exist in vacuum of their own respective seasons. Championship teams are lifted from their respective reasons and then thrown in the pot of other championship teams so we can rate them too and satisfy our need to have rankings all over the place. Once there, we have some champions being regarded more positively than others for whatever reason.

I meant 2006-2007 Dolphins (this years team)

The 2003 Marlins IMO because I believe they just happened to have a great run at the right time, but were not a great team with great talent.

Same with last years Steelers, who I think were not better than the Colts last year, for example. But such is football, any team can win at any time even if they aren't a better team. (Chi-Miami anyone?)

But that is the commonly held belief, so how does that make them overrated?

There is a big difference between the regular season and the playoffs, and besides they were the only team to win 3 playoff games on the road.

2005-2006 Miami Heat

I agree.

The Bears are pretty overrated this year also, or at least they were about 3 weeks ago.

True

I think last years' Steelers playing last years' Colts lose four times out of five.

Then that would make the Colts overrated.

06 Gator football

06 Notre Dame football

Agreed x100000 on both counts.

USC is the best choice on that list, IMO.

Their strength of schedule left much to be desired. In particular, the "good" teams they would play weren't actually good at all.

2005-2006 Miami Heat

I agree. Why? Not a soul ever said they were as good as the Lakers/Bulls/etc back in the day, of course they got attention after they won but that's pretty natural for winning, it wasn't over the top. And don't even bring up officiating because that was one player and that's from the perspective of refs, it's not like the world decides on the calls. No one even believed in them after they were down and no one even talks about them anymore so I don't really follow.

Thanks for voting, polls will be up shortly.
