December 1, 200619 yr The Heat has been in contact with the Los Angeles Clippers about a possible trade for swingman Corey Maggette, according to a league source. The Clippers forward has been on the trading block since last season, and the Heat has players that are in a similar salary range to Maggette, including James Posey and Antoine Walker. Maggette is under contract through next season with a player option for the 2008-09 season. Posted December 01, by Ben Maller Digg this | Add to del.icio.us Discuss in the Forums | Link http://www.benmaller.com/#mlb_rumors_notes thoughts? I wouldnt move Posey but trading walker might be addition through subtration. http://www.miami.com/mld/miamiherald/sports/16136969.htm another link for the rumor
December 1, 200619 yr If they take Walker's extended contract. :drool But I don't want Magette, I just want out from under Walker.
December 1, 200619 yr If they take Walker's extended contract. :drool But I don't want Magette, I just want out from under Walker. There's nothing wrong with Mags at all. Dude's a proven scorer and a good rebounder. I wouldn't mind getting rid of Walker and Posey since Wright has really taken over the role of 6th man. It'd pretty much be Maggette and Wright for Posey and Walker. We'd lose some 3 point shooting but gain tons of quickness. I like it, that's what our team needs.
December 1, 200619 yr Author Posey has great defense and without posey we have no outside shot though on the team. Wade becomes the primary 3Pt shooter?
December 1, 200619 yr Posey has great defense and without posey we have no outside shot though on the team. Wade becomes the primary 3Pt shooter? J-Will, Kapono, Wright. Does it really matter at this point? We're last in the league in scoring so you can throw all that "outside shot" stuff out the window. Riley doesn't like the 3 anyway.
December 1, 200619 yr Contractwise, Walker and Magette are pretty similar (we can opt out of Walker's after 08-09, Magette has an option for 08-09) But whatever it takes to get rid of Walker, if it means going after Myron Piggie's best friend, I'm all for it.
December 1, 200619 yr Do it. I think I'd trade Antonie Walker for Brian Grant. Yes, the retired Brian Grant and his awful contract. I can't stand Walker.
December 1, 200619 yr I like Posey, but it's not like there's no three point threat without him. Kapono and Williams can both shoot threes, and Wright/Wade do from time to time.
December 1, 200619 yr Author the rumor seems to be for one or the other so pretty much the idea is dump walker (please please please). Rather keep posey over him.
December 2, 200619 yr LOL @ Clipper fans wanting Posey, Wright AND a 1st rounder for Maggette. Are you f***ing kidding me? Oh hell no. The main reason Posey is being discussed is because of Wrights play. Why the hell would we trade Posey AND Wright? AND A FIRST ROUNDER? Crazy a**holes.
December 2, 200619 yr Walker for Maggette? haha nice joke. Posey for Maggette would be a good deal for the Heat.
December 2, 200619 yr Here is my proposal. Heat Get: F Corey Maggette G Shaun Livingston 2nd round pick in 2007 Clippers Get: F Antoine Walker F Wayne Simien 1st round pick in 2007

Heat Get: F Corey Maggette G Shaun Livingston 2nd round pick in 2007 Clippers Get: F Antoine Walker F Wayne Simien 1st round pick in 2007 Why in the Hell would the Clippers get rid of their future PG for a young unproven PF when they have Elton Brand? That's a huge step backwards. Worst trade proposal ever.
December 2, 200619 yr id definetly throw in wright of we could get livingston, but that will never happen.

December 3, 200619 yr Nothing, the only untradable player that we have is D wade. Wright is gonna be like a rashard lewis/ tracy mcgrady type player. Livingston has great passing vision, good man on man defense, is 21 years old, and he is a 6-7 point guard. The only comparible player to livingston's potential is Magic or the big O

He has the potential to be a great PG but isnt any better now that he was 2 years ago.

And would he be rebounding so well if he didn't grow that inch and a half? Probably since he has some long ass arms but so does Livingston. They have a lot in common. Both 21, they were in the same Draft Class, both out of High School. With that said, I'd rather keep Wright. He's played way less and has shown much more potential. If Livingston doesn't improve quickly, he could be the next Kwame Brown.
December 3, 200619 yr Dorell Wright has injected a type of energy and confidence in this starting lineup that really helps the team. His athleticism is evident and his shot is getting better (probably because of Spoelstra, aka the next Heat head coach). I would not give him up at all right now. He's finally getting a chance and doing something with it. He JUST turned 21 and has nothing but bright lights ahead.
