Build the stadium in...ORLANDO

Afterall, they're the FLORIDA Marlins, not the Miami Marlins; moving them to downtown area would make it tougher for me as an Orlando Marlins fan to follow and pop down for a game or two than it already is.

I have it from a very good source that part of the deal will include the Marlins having to change their name to the Miami Marlins. So I guess you are not going to like that very much. Hey, if its any consolation to you, at least that will fulfill the "prophecy" from Back to the Future. :cool

I don't think you're right about why Magic attendance has suffered at times. While basketball is popular with minorities, it is mostly attended by rich white people throughtout the country. It isnt only Orlando that has an arena in a low income area with high ticket prices. Anyway, the Magic's attendance this year has been pretty good most of the year. They have sold out a bunch of games and are near sell outs for every game. I looked it up recently and Im pretty sure they sell about 98% of their tickets or so. Also, I wouldnt count on UCF students adding much to attendance if an MLB team were to go to Orlando. They dont give their own teams too much support.

The name change to Miami may not occur. Depends alot on how everyone is feeling when the deal is signed.

They have toned that down to stop angering Tallahassee.

Right now, I like it to stay Florida Marlins.

I would say it is news because the last time it was mentioned publicly was as part of the old deal, which as we all know fell through. So far no one publicly has mentioned anything about the Marlins having to change their name as part of the new deal. So recently I decided to e-mail the Miami mayor to ask him if changing the name to the Miami Marlins will be part of the new deal. His response was, "Absolutely." Thus, my reason for saying that the new deal will, in fact, contain the requirement for the Marlins to change their name to the Miami Marlins.

Hopefully I will not have to post anymore on this thread. ;-)
