October 12, 200322 yr Man he is completely off today, his mechanics have changed a whole lot. Have you seen his glove while in the windup? Its not close to his body like before and he is working way to fast. ITs taking too much out of him!
October 12, 200322 yr he's sweating like joe stong out there wild early - we've seen this b4. inning 2 will tell if he gets in groove or gets pulled we cannot afford any more cub runs
October 12, 200322 yr The ump is terrible. He has a very, very tight strike zone - and McKeon yelled at him between innings. Problem is, Clement got the calls that Willis should have been getting. But too late, WIllis' confidence is already gone. Feel bad for him...we gotta pick him up. CMON MARLINS - WIN THIS ONE FOR D TRAIN IF FOR NO ONE ELSE. FIGHT IT OUT ON THE FIELD, THIS IS OUR SEASON...PROTECT OUR HOUSE!!! :banghead
October 12, 200322 yr Author He got pulled after allowing 4 runs and he isnt mad. He is very mature....alot of people would be down on themsleves. D-dub just didnt have it today, he was very wild and another 1st inning trouble for the Marlins.
October 12, 200322 yr As usual I was at the game tonight, and of course I'm a homer, but it certainly seemed from where we were sitting that Dontrelle was getting squeezed big time in that first inning. I'm curious how it was called on Fox (tv) and on the radio. Anyone care to fill me in? Tommy and Len have anything to say in the postgame about it?

I agree, I had a good view and it seems that strike zone was VERY VERY THIN. Cubs offense show a lot of patience, and we didn't show any.
October 12, 200322 yr seems to me that when Dontrelle first came up he was getting the low strike called. doesn't get it anymore. he did this all by himself. 1 hit, 3 walks, 4-0, see ya later.
October 12, 200322 yr Actually, I thought it was pretty much a typical Willis outing. He was right around the plate early, and wan't getting close pitches called strikes. Whenever that happens, he doesn't do well. When he has to throw it right over the plate, he gets hit hard. For some reason there is a different stike zone in the playoffs than the regular season. Especially for a rookie. Willis wasn't getting the low strike he is used to getting, and then he wasn't getting either corner. When he has to throw it up over the heart, it's all over. After a couple of batters he knew it was going to be tough. Then the nerves set in. He must have felt like there wasn 't anyplace to throw the ball.
October 12, 200322 yr It seems to me DW adopted a semi-slide-step with runners on in inning 1. This is partially understandable, since his time to HP is on the slow side. But Lofton was the only real threat to steal, so he shoulda gone back to high kick out of the stretch. He didn't. Rameriz cashes in.
