Gainesville zip codes are listed on the blacked out zip codes list for the Marlins on MLB.tv. Does anybody in Gainesville have any info on whether this is actually the case? Can we not get the Marlins on MLB.tv in Gville? With the larger amount of games on Sun Sports this year (games that we dont get in Gville) I would like to make sure that I dont miss all of those games. Thanks for any help

FSN Florida and Sun Sports hold exclusive rights to telecast Marlins Baseball in the entire State of Florida and Southern Alabama.

Contact Cox Cable in Gainesville and request they carry all 150 games. MLB.tv will have to black you out due to the contract between the Marlins and FSN.

DirecTV and Dish Network should be carrying all 150 games if that is an option.

However, FSN has been trying to get more cablecos on board in 2007 for all 150 games, so Cox may have picked up the games already.

Thanks for the response, we do get the FSN games in Gainesville and we used to get the few Sun Sports games but last year they stopped carrying the Sun Sports games. Cox Cable is pretty helpless. If a game should be on TV in Gainesville but doesn't show up on TV for some reason, they just pick up the phone and say "that's weird"

Cox Cable didn't pay for the extra 55 games.

Look at this website: http://www.fsnflorida.com/schedule_fsn_marlins.jsp

Any telecast with MARLINS written like that next to it is part of the 55-game extra package. Basically, every Sun Sports game (45) and 10 FSN Florida games are a seperate package that needs to be bought in addition to buying FSN Florida and Sun Sports.

Meh, I get to watch 4 months of the season at least.

Call and e-mail Cox begging for them to air all 150 games.

They may have struck a deal and not announced it.

Comcast here in Tallahassee is supposed to be airing all 150 games along with the HD telecast package.

I was just about to ask about how things are in Tallahassee now that they've got FSN. Thats pretty awesome, when I went there I had to go to BW3 to watch the Fish. According to Cox's schedule on line, those Sun Sports games are not scheduled to be aired in Gainesville. I will be contacting them during the week. Thanks for the help.

I haven't done it but someone who I believe is credible told me the way around this is to pay a friend out of the market to signup for the mlb.tv package and pay for it with an out of state/area credit card. At least in past years that worked.

I read that people have done that same thing elsewhere, Marlins2003. I guess I might not go with MLB.tv right away since I will be in Gville for a month before Im done with school and I dont know where Ill be for law school yet.

F-ing Cox. Oh well, I'll be going to Gators Dockside to watch some of those.

I'll be moving to PA, so I'll have Direct TV. No problem. :shifty

Is in demand (cox, comcast) going to carry extra innings? Does anyone know?

Looks like it is coming down to the wire.

Negotiations continue, but I would say no unless someone there blinks.

I think they have until saturday march 31 to match. I guess I'll have to wait until sunday to get either MLB.tv premium or hopefully extra innings from Cox.

i think that mlb extras innnig will have free trail for first week so people who cable company with that can watch first week of season of marlins

cox cable in gainesville is the worst , if i lived in an area that could actually get a satelite signal i would dumb cox in a minute

cox cable does suck. cant wait to get of here with a real job so I can buy all the games

The credit card thing is bogus. All mlb.tv does is check your IP and then it blacks out games. My billing zip is 33480, but I can watch Marlins games on my account up in New York, but not in Palm Beach...ditto Yankees games in South Florida and NY (on the same lap-top).

If memory serves, I have used MLB.tv in G'ville for Marlins games, but I'd double check, or find someone who has MLB.tv and try it out (since signing up takes all of 5 seconds).

I have to admit gainesville has grown on me some , i dont plan on living here forever but when i leave (aka my wife finishes her schooling ) i will miss going to gator football and basketball games , i will not miss the horrible traffic during the school year and poor marlins coverage though

at least you will have alot of marlins games to watch and make you forget of yet another emerald nuts bowl game appearance or nit game :thumbup

coming from south fla the traffic is a dream here

i suppose traffic is all relative to where you live and where you are going i lived in miami before moving up here. in miami i could walk or was a 5 minute drive away from everything , and even going to marlins games going north on us-1 and north on 95 usually wasnt that bad traffic wise(it moved reasonably quickly) , whereas in gainesville i live on one side of town and work on the other so perhaps it is the traffic i am exposed to that makes the commute here long . BTW in my opinion Orlando is the worst place to drive in the state

agreed, although Tampa is a close second.

I appreciate they built Tallahassee like a wheel with the Capitol/FSU area being the center. The Capital Circle (US 319/I-10/W. Cap Circle) helps make it a wheel.

Yet another Emerald Nuts Bowl? Wouldnt this work better for UF with the Outback Bowl?
