May 18, 200719 yr IMO he's here to fill Ross' role anf that's it. His lefty splits aren't encouraging.
May 18, 200719 yr Hey, all. Quick question?how long does a player stay on waivers before being sent to the Minors? I thought it was 3 days but now I believe I?m wrong as Linden had been designated for assignment on 5/10 and claimed off waivers today. Thanks. Never mind...I found it... "A player who is designated for assignment is immediately removed from the 40-man roster. This gives the team time to decide what to do with the player while freeing up a roster spot for another transaction, if needed. Once a player is designated for assignment, the team has ten days to do one of the following things: the player can be traded, the player can be released, or the player can be put on waivers and, provided they clear, outrighted to the minors. A player who is outrighted to the minors is removed from the 40-man roster but is still paid according to the terms of his guaranteed contract. A player can only be outrighted once in his career without his consent." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Baseball_tran..._for_assignment Thanks anyway.
May 19, 200719 yr "I know our people like him, and they feel like he can help this ballclub, so why not?" Gonzalez said. "From what I understand, he's more of a contact guy." :banghead
May 19, 200719 yr From what Fredi said on FSN tonight I think he is going to see some action tomorrow.
May 19, 200719 yr Well it's about time Beinfest made some kind of move reference the OF, too bad he waited til after Hermida came back, it has been sorry out there for awhile. When the outlook of the OF gets better he decides to make the move. Right now we just need to wait foe ADA to get back. It can't be that much longer. At least this should keep Amezaga out of the outfield
May 19, 200719 yr Say 'hi' to the new guy: The Marlins claimed outfielder Todd Linden off waivers from the Giants on Friday and expect him to join the team in St. Petersburg on Saturday. Gonzalez hadn't heard much about the Linden, except that Marlins scouts thought the switch-hitter would fit in well. Linden hit .182 (10-for-55) with three RBIs in 30 games with the Giants this year, and is a career .217 hitter (81-for-373), with seven homers and 28 RBIs. "I know our people like him, and they feel like he can help this ballclub, so why not?" Gonzalez said. "From what I understand, he's more of a contact guy." Linden will likely fill the role of fourth or fifth outfielder, and play the corner spots. If necessary, Gonzalez said, Linden would also be used for pinch-hitting off the bench. To make room on the roster, the Marlins designated outfielder John Gall for assignment. Source: FLMarlins.Com Just for the purpose of discussion.... May 19, 200719 yr He absolutely owned the PAC-10... his OPS his senior year was 1042, and I think he was a Pacific league all-star in 05. I love this move as well. Wow, I feel refreshed... a move I have some confidence in from the FO. You want to take a guess who had an OPS of 1.057 his senior year and PAC-10 All star in 1999? I'll give you a hint....graduated from Stanford.... Ahhh yes. The Stanford QB. I still have a weak spot for Stanford QBs. So sue me. My favorite one is in the NFL HOF. But this is the guy that some folks DEMANDED be our CFer during ST and now have nothing but bad things to say about. Amazing how the tides change.
May 19, 200719 yr I know im a little late...but sweet! i like this move. I wanted to see a little more of Gall but w/e. I kinda like Linden all though i havent seen too much of him. welcome to the marlins.

May 19, 200719 yr I just hope that Reggie continues to get some PT as long as he is getting a few hits and playing good defense (yes, I said good defense, watching the game at the Trop last night his excellent range really impressed me on some well hit balls.)

Spud it's that you have gotten use to seeing Alfredo " No Range" Amezaga in CF. I have seen quadriplegics cover more ground than him...and thats in a wheelchair low on batteries
