I hope he gets on track and he more than less will with a ton of season left, but yesterday was the worst I think I've ever seen him. He had no clue where the ball was at all day.

He's been playing with a back injury, maybe he should be DL'd and let it heal.

I haven't seen Jones play much, but when I have, he literally falls over when he swings. He needs to shorten the swing, and try going to the opposite field more. But from what I've read, he's apparently said he's "a pull hitter."

i disagree...offensively...for his potential when he came up...he has always been in a funk...he tries to hit mickey mantle sized moon shots every time up...which is why his career average is around what? .270...this is nothing new from him...if his defense slumped, then id be worried

I don't think Andruw Jones ever truly met expectations offensively.

And yet he'll probably still retire with 500-600 HR.

 

He's not going to put up a platinum sombrero every night, but Hollywood K's a lot. He's always had issues with low pitches anyways.

You could throw him 92 down the fat part of the plate and he would be frozen by it right now.

Fair enough. The weird thing about Andruw is that he'll K 120 times in a season but he'll also drive in 130 runs and score 100 more. As JimmyJack pointed out, he's really in there for his stellar D [even if he's a bit of a hotdog] and who knows how many runs he saves in the OF with his leather. I think he's one of those guys like Soriano who got rushed through the minors and was expected to compete at the ML level too quickly instead of being developed in AA or AAA ball. These guys are getting along on raw talent alone.

 

I still say he comes out of this and finishes the season with a .260/.270 avg.
