I was tunig in because I wanted an update on ticket sales and to see if they had announced the starters. Now I want to hear what people tell him.

WFAN here in New York has been hyping the Marlins big time today. It's great.

WQAM is renewing it's license in January 2004. If you have any comments on how WQAM does/doesn't serve the public interest, contact the FCC.

Cape I think in part his point is well made.

 

If you heard the few callers before he went off on the Angels rant, two callers started on the "I'm worried about next year" stuff.

 

His point was that you can't concentrate on what might happen next year. It's directed at the people who start to cry "the marlins will sell off a bunch of players again next year!"

 

- well the Angels DID keep almost all of their players from last year, and STILL couldn't repeat!

 

The point is you never know what will happen from year to year. People who say "yeah, but what about next year?" have no ability to enjoy the moment.

The Angels had no injuries last year, and were plagued with them this year. I wouldn't be surprised if they were successful next year again.

 

The difference is the injuries. We saw injuries this year and people still stepped it up. We are more battle tested than they are.

this whole thing about hank goldblob at wqam brings up a very interesting question: should the guys on qam even be able to rip the marlins?

 

i understand that sometimes you have to criticize the team if they aren't up to par, but goldblob is ripping them while they're in the WORLD SERIES. one thing is the guys at 610 ripping us, and while i never like hearing people talk bad about the fish, they're able to do it because they have no contract as marlins flagship, but qam sure does!

 

all these guys do is time and time again rip on the fish and give the casual fans a bad impression of the guys, but then rip the fans when they dont show up.

 

everything about talk radio and most of sports (hell, most of the things in life) is a hypocracy. next winter, i sure hope 610 saves us fans from qam

Hopefully the marlins wont give away alot of ppl. and we can have most of the team here next year and then we can do what the angels couldn't do and that is go to the WS the next yr after also.

FishFry, 610 is a newsradio, they don't rip any of the teams. In fact they are constantly promoting the Marlins like on opening day, they put a news reminder that the game vs. the Phillies started at 4 pm at PPS.

I think the Hammer is OK. He cuts/insult every bandwagon fan that ask the question "are they gonna be here next year?".

 

I gurantee you, he has been eating crow all year. since his critique of David Sampson 91 games prediction. And he has accepted that he is wrong.

 

The way I see it, is that there is hope for baseball in SF. if we were able to turn around Berardino and Hank, the fan base is there for grabs.

Cape there certainly ARE people who think that way!! i hear their dumb asses on the radio all the time! if you've lived in this town for any extended period of time you know how negative they are. heck, dolphins fans are the same way. we may not agree, and it may be pointless and stupid, but like i just said, a few callers IN A ROW started with all that crap, & that was the reason for his rant about living for the moment because even if the team does stay together, there's no telling when a team could make it here again.

I can't stand sportstalk radio, can't wait til 2005 when we can get on WIOD and be on a newsradio that would give the facts not dumb talk.

I plan to start worrying about what's going to happen NEXT YEAR, right after the world series is over. In the meantime, if you're a Marlins fan, why would you be anywhere else but in the moment?

 

This is the moment you do all the worrying and cheering for. Stay right here, right now. It doesn't happen that often.

Don't worry about next year yet. Enjoy what's happening now! Look at the Cubs for example. Be glad we're not like them, who haven't had a WS in ages. Sit back, relax, and enjoy the show!!
