i'm not cuban but i still would have set that motherf**king shirt of fire........

Something like that happened to me a few months ago.. I'm a very proud chilean that thanks God everyday for Pinochet...

and some dude started mouthing off about he's a criminal and a murderer, so i did what every non comunist chilean would have done, i kicked his ass out of my house.... Of course i dont agree with everything Pinochet did, but everyone knows that if it wasn't for Pinochet taking over Chile would have been CubaII cause Fidel was very good friends with Allende....

I'm half chilean myself, Pinochet was another a-hole but he certainly kept communism out of

Chile.

Communism isn't necesarilly a bad thing, but what Castro does isn't communism.

I agree with the part that what castro does is not communism. In fact the "communist" dictators are not communist. The belief of communism is that there are no classes and everyone gets the same (basically).

Its not a bad thing? Of couse it is. If everyone gets the same, then why do I go to school? Why do I bother getting a masters degree if some guy who drops out of high school gets the same as I do? Communisim stunts growth.

QFT. That is bulls***. I would have been livid. I have been known to have a bad temper and I would have flipped on them.

After Hurricane Andrew my father let a Cuban family who's house was destroyed live with us for a couple of months. They had immigrated here only a few months before and spoke no english.

They were Jehovah's Witnesses and the stories they told were about Castro and the Government were just horrible. Anybody that supports Castro is the same as a person who would support Hitler in my book and I would spit in their face before I acknowledged their presence as a human being.

Whaaa waaaa. :fit

why dont you explain that a little bit? i know where you stand but why not explain it instead of doing that idiotic crap?

Never underestimate the power of ignorant people in large groups.

Don't you get it? It's what's hot right now. It's what's selling. We're in the business of business. I'm sure if they thought they could sell "I heart Hitler", they would sell it right here in South Florida- hell, even in Aventura!

They're stupid people who have nothing better to waste their money on. God forbid she would have given the cost of the shirt to a homeless shelter.....

Hey all, I'm a long time lurker on this site. Just wanted to chime in on a subject from a non S.fla view

I live in Merida, Mexico. While there are some cubans here, the vast majority of the folks here don't have an opinion on Castro or cuba. The embargo is a non issue and there are no flight restrictions.

I lived in South Florida (WPB) for most of my life before moving here to merida.

Here in merida, you'll find a large number of people who very much approve of castro and his revolution. They envy cuba's health care system, large numbers of highly skilled professionals, and Cubas independent voice in world affairs (Mexico plays little brother to the US on the world stage).

My own personal opinion of Castro is that while his revolution has led to a lot of bad changes in Cuba, he himself isnt to blame for most of the failures. While he will be gone soon, things wont get much better on the ground in Cuba just because of his death.

I've been in cuba for more than 3months of this year, and I can honestly say that things are not as bad as some Cuban Americans claim. Abortion is now much restricted, unemployment is falling, and people seem to have more money than ever (Like a farmer offering 5000cup(200CUC) for a dvd player I had). Or how people have 80cuc to buy brand name sneakers, and lets not mention the offers of 5000cuc to my mexican friend to "marry".

To be Pro Castro in Miami, while it is foolish, maybe justifiable. However to be so anti Castro that you call for his demise asap or compare him hitler, well, it is obvious you don't live or travel to Cuba then.

/puts on his flame resistant suit :mischief

i would love to go to Cuba myself to form an opinion because i've heard that it is horrible there from lots of people and i've heard that isnt that bad from a lot of people...i mean if everyone buys into the system it can work...in my completely uninformed opinion i think the embargo hurts Cuba more than Castro does (but i may be completely wrong) i wnna visit there so bad...it is such an island of mystery to me

In theory, of course it isn't a bad thing. Everybody working for the good of the community and sharing the wealth. If you go to school and get your PHD, the hardest thing about it is paying for it, is it not? So now you've got all of this stuff paid for, all of this training, etc. I think there would still be people to do every job.

Of course, it's an idealistic belief that could never work in a big modernized nation, but it is ideal for smaller developing areas.

i aint gonna trash you but i will say that when you got family thats had their property taken from them, family thats gone to jail or are prevented from working for expressing their anti-castro feelings and to know that they executed hundreds at the firing squad because of a mere suspicion of them being pro-batista after gaining power its pretty easy to be very anti-castro. and if its so good in Cuba, medical care, money etc how you do explain people getting on rafts and risking their lives to come here? you think they do that for sport? are you serious? speaking of that great medical care... they had to fly in doctors from Spain to operate on Castro himself. that shows how much trust he got in his revolutionary medical system. yeah some people get lucky and manage to live decent but if its so good over their you aint gonna have people crashing into an embassy trying to get out or have thousands of people bolt when Castro opens the gates (mariel and balseros in '94). are there pro castro people on the island? sure, i had a relative that was like that... untl he came over to visit and started making some money. you wanna say that me and others on the site were born here? cool, tell that to our families who did live there, who did go through some sh*t and of course left the country they grew up in.

at least you actually posted something unlike the "great revolutionary" who lives in the rough and poor area of Aventura who just posted originally to incite an argument.

Well, my grandfather's Farm got reduced to 10% of its previous size in 1960 (it is on the road from jaruco to bainoa if anyone is from around there :) ), my mom's apartment was taken over by the government after she left in 1977, my dad's car (a very hard to get item in cuba) also was handed over to the state when he left. My family, like many others, had gone through the issues of the revolution. But Batista did alot of awful things when he was in power. Cuba has had its bad luck with leadership :(

And about medical care, while it is not as advanced as it is in the US, its is VERY good for a 3rd world country like cuba. Tell me, what is the 1st thing they ask you in a doctor's office in the US (hint: it isnt your name)

And about the the immigration: yea, people do crazy things to find the american dream. But, I will tell you, the urge to leave cuba for America is very low now. Most folks who make the trip, are either in trouble in cuba, or have family in the US that will help them out. People in Cuba know that you need to bust your ass to make it in the states.

And finally, I didnt tell anyone anything about where they were born, only that calling Castro...Hitler is absurd.

If you want to see extreme poverty, and mass immigration along with complete disillusion of faith in country and economy, visit the southern mexican states of chipapas or Ojaca. :banghead

The problem is that you dont need to work, you still get your share. Communisim rewards the the dumbest person as much as the smartest person. In an ideal world that didnt have human behavior, then maybe it would make some sense. But when you tell people that they are guaranteed a certain amount and cant get more from working hard, then basically everyone stops working. Even know there are people taking advantage of welfare. I know for one if the US tried to pass communism I would stop doing anything productive and just wait for my check to come in every month.

Ya I am in the same boat. Northeastern University has a course that you go in once a week and talk about cuba, then at the end of the semester you go there for like 10 days. I am thinking about doing that in the future.

Great post man. I completely agree with your point of view. Fidel is nothing but a murderer and a dictator, there is absolutely nothing to praise in him and I find the comparison to Hitler valid. His actions aren't as popular and well known as Hitler's, but Fidel deceived and murdered innocent people to get to where he is and has done nothing but oppress and hurt the Cuban people. His deceptions and victims are not plastered all over the news so people do not realize what goes on there.

I love how people discuss their health care system without even being there to know what is going on. My aunt in Cuba depends on us to send her medication to survive. The family over there constantly writes us asking for medication because they cannot get it in Cuba, sometimes we can afford to send it, sometimes we cannot. The fact remains, their health care stinks, people who think otherwise are just falling prey to their propaganda.

In my opinion, anyone who wears a pro-Fidel t-shirt is an uninformed fool who wants attention, nothing more. As previously stated, people who wear that should be asked to move there, I'm sure they will love their quality of life.

Been through this before with you, not doing it again. My views are the same as they were 3 years ago. Not inciting arguments, not a "great revolutionary". Let's leave it there.

I have also been through these discussions before, so I'm not going to get into it.

I do agree with Albcuba, in that it is not valid to place Castro in the same category as Hitler. To do so is not only ignorant, but is also disrepectfully belittling to the plight of the Jews.

There is simply no way that you can compare the brutal murder of six million people and the destruction of other nations to the revolution that took place in Cuba.

Most people that wear these shirts don't have a clue who the person is, i'm surprised people haven't started wearing shirts with Hitler on it yet. Stupid people.

Wearing Nazi symbols is much worse, imo.

Yes, some people are just stupid. This reminds me yesterday i was in the lobby in the hotel i was staying in, in Cancun and some idiot was wearing a Che shirt and my uncle walked up to him and asked him if he knew what he was wearing, my uncle told him the guy on your shirt is a criminal an assassin and what not; the guy responded by saying yes, he's also a revolutionist. My uncle felt like splitting the guy in half, but he was smart and just walked away.

i hate that sh*t to be honest, if you wearin it thats on you. i aint gonna mess with you, ill keep my feelings to myself. everybody has the right to wear what they want even if they look like a jackass.

ive never mentioned castro in the same breath as hitler nor would i even think about it. i was just saying its very easy to see why a Cuban would be anti-castro. Yes Batista and every idiot that came before him werent angels but this fool took it to another level has done everything possible to crush any opposition and that just aint right.
