July 3, 200719 yr Saw a similar thread for Albuquerque and was just looking for some suggestions. Obviously Ive got a good idea of what to do but Ive never been and Im heading there in a couple days. (going with the girlfriend, so dont worry about suggesting prostitutes)
July 3, 200719 yr Do your girlfriend in 3 different casinos.... Bet at the Hilton..... Sounds like a winner....
July 3, 200719 yr Saw a similar thread for Albuquerque and was just looking for some suggestions. Obviously Ive got a good idea of what to do but Ive never been and Im heading there in a couple days. (going with the girlfriend, so dont worry about suggesting prostitutes) I should have put a copywrite on the thread title yea I would still suggest a prostitute...lol that being said, I haven't gone in 12 years and I was 7 then, but the MGM grand is supposedly still nice...Also, if you want something a little more upscale Lake Las Vegas seems nice (I saw it on the Travel Cahannel once!) and I also went to Red Rock Canyon where there is just desert and a rance...but apperently they built a new resort there too... hope that helps
July 4, 200719 yr Beef in order to give you a good answer I'll need to know how many nights you will be staying. Ive been there on vacation over 25 times so I'm sure I can help with some suggestions.
July 4, 200719 yr Author Thanks, Im there for 4 days/3 nights.... Got tickets to see the Beatles Cirque show and Lewis Black while Im there. Things to do/places to eat/any suggestions are appreciated.
July 4, 200719 yr What hotel are you staying at? My favorite hotels are Wynn, Mirage and Mandalay Bay. If your taking your girl, book a massage/facial for her at the Spa at whatever hotel your staying at. You will be a hero. My favorite restaurant is NINE Steakhouse at the Palms. If your looking for something more economical but very tasty, try The Steakhouse at Circus Circus. The Palms also has a killer sushi place called Little Buddha. Try the breakfast buffet at Paris. Everyone I've known thats been there loves it including me. For a really great view of the Strip at night, go to either Ghost Bar @ the top of The Palms (they have a clear glass floor piece at the outside bar which is not for those who are afraid of heights) or Vodoo Lounge at the top of the Rio. If your gambling, make sure you ask for a Players Card at whatever hotel your staying at. Use it and you will acrue some comps. Best sportsbook for hanging out watching games are Mirage or Caesars. Have fun and feel free to ask questions!
July 4, 200719 yr Author Thanks for all of that. Im staying at the Bellagio and the girl is a personal trainer, so the facial/massage thing really isnt her thing. Ill probably end up at a sportsbook for a couple hours or maybe place a bet, get some food and then return for the end of the game. Perhaps Ill go to Caesar's for that because Im pretty sure thats where Bobby Flay's restaurant is. Do you recommend figuring out where I want to eat in advance and making reservations or should waits not be too much of a problem? I assume it may be since its 4th of July weekend. Again, thanks for all the suggestions.
July 4, 200718 yr Las Vegas is beautiful. I've been there 7 times, never gambled and still had fun. Check out the "Top of the world restaurant" :thumbup

Ive been there on vacation over 25 times so I'm sure I can help with some suggestions. 25 times? Wow, I just don't see the appeal of going to a city like Vegas that many times... Do you realize how much of the world you could see with the money you spent there?

Do you realize how much of the world you could see with the money you spent there? Actually my first trip was 10 years ago so Im averaging about what...........2.5 trips a year. Thats not a lot (for me at least). Ive been all over America (born in Los Angeles) been to San Fran, NYC many times, Atlanta many times. Ive been to Spain, Italy, Monte Carlo, France as well. In a way you are probably right, I could have gone to Germany and Greece etc.......but Vegas is always such a fun getaway and its like a guarantee to be a really fun time.

And yes, make reservations for dinner and ask for window seats.

I was actually thinking the same thing as helmsE. Even if you cut down to 1 trip to las vegas a year you could have gone to 10 different countries. Vegas is a lot of fun, but I've only been once. I like seeing new places. I figure once I see a bunch of places I can decide what is the best and continue going back there. You should try and go to oktoberfest, I went there in 05 and its my favorite place on earth. BTW this is a cool quote I read yesterday "The world is a book, and those that do not travel read only one page"
July 4, 200718 yr You all make good points. My problem is, I love poker, sportsbetting, boxing, great restaurants and spas and great comedy clubs mixed in with great weather (always sunny) and relaxing pools with hot drink servers. Guess what place has all that? Bingo. Im also of the opinion that I have traveled more than most (to other places besides Vegas). I know ppl in Florida who never go further away than Orlando.

True, I know a lot of people that havent left the US. I also know people who havent left a 200 mile radius of their house. No one is going to tell you to go anywhere, its your vacation and are allowed to do what you want. However, there is so much more to the world than just the US and I think you may be missing out. I have my next few trips line up (no fixed dates yet) 1. Mexico City 2. London 3. Russia (moscow and st. petersburg) 4. Vancouver 5. Peru
July 4, 200718 yr Load up on booze, get a room at the Whole Year Inn, run in to a prostitute, don't have sex with her because you both enjoy the company more, tell her to never ask you to stop drinking, move in with her, continue drinking, continue your romance. Leave Las Vegas.
July 5, 200718 yr Just came from Vegas today....my second time going and i enjoyed it like i did when i first went. went to all the hotels...stayed at the mirage (awesome, fancy hotel)...if you want to know the best hotell, then for me its the Bellagio (super elagent) and its in the middle of the strip so your not all the way at the ffar end. I went to the Danny Gans show in the Bellagio, this man is awesome, he really knows how to entertain but he does imitations of older artists but you still get a laugh in every second! Ceasars Palace is the way to go, the best and biggest mall in the strip of las vegas with all the popular designer stores (versace, gucci, louis vitton, etc.).

Peru is incredible and Mexico City is interesting to say the least. I'd recommend Guatemala though instead of Mexico City if you're looking to visit Central America, it's one of my favorite countries in the world. I'm hoping to get to Russia this fall if I can scrape together the money, I have a few friends who live in St. Petersburg to show me around. Load up on booze, get a room at the Whole Year Inn, run in to a prostitute, don't have sex with her because you both enjoy the company more, tell her to never ask you to stop drinking, move in with her, continue drinking, continue your romance. Leave Las Vegas. :lol Excellent movie

I got a $300 voucher on american airlines and decided that was the best place to go. A rt ticket from boston to mexico city is 348 with taxes, so I only have to pay $48 for a ticket. After I go to london (hopefully next march), I will have enough miles to do peru for free.
