Sony PS3

Featured Replies

Man, you guys are acting like Sony wanted to do this. They were forced to because of all the money they were losing. They'll continue to lose money with every system sold anyway and that's why they didn't want the price to drop so soon but I guess the sales have been so bad that they were left without a choice.

And like someone already said, after July the and after all the 60GB PS3's are gone, they'll be right back up to 600 bucks. If you want a PS3, go get one while they're "on sale".

uuuhhh... they'll always have a 499.99 option. So when 60gb are gone, they'll prob do something else.

Anyway, the 80GB 599.99 comes with a BUNDLE.

Apparently the price cut is only until they run out of stock of the 60 gig model, after that the only model will be the 80 gig one that is bundle with motorstorm for $599. So if you are interested in taking advantage of the lower price, do it soon.

SCEE president David Reeves has told GamesIndustry.biz that the 60GB PlayStation 3 will no longer be available in the US after stock sells out - which he predicts will occur by the end of the month.

Well that sucks. Is it possible to play online with the smaller ps3?

Lets just say I only want to play Metal Gear Solid, GTA 4, Madden 08, and Guitar Hero 3. Could I get buy with the 20gig ps3 or the smaller xbox and still get to play people online?

All the system regardless of price let you play online. The 20 gig ps3 (if you can find one) doesn't have wireless internet support built in. The 360 without the hard drive will be able to connect to the internet but you won't be able to download much without the hard drive.

So basically as long as I dont care about downloading a ton of stuff, I would be ok getting the cheaper xbox 360.

Thats what they said about the core.

Click and read the article, the 499 PS3 is only good until they run out, after that your only option is the 80 gig (BTW, the 80 gig will not be fully backwards compatible like the 60 gig, so that's another reason to get the 60 gig if you want to play your ps2 games on it).

Some people are guessing that eventually Sony will drop the bundled stuff and sell the 80 gig for $499, but that's just a guess and nothing concrete.

Sounds like I'll be a dual-system owner again soon. Then again, if the new Socom was multi-platform, I don't think I'd get one.

Does that look any good?

It will be the reason why I buy a PS3. It's supposed to be more like the first one, with no vehicles or huge maps or other stupid sh*t that they have gone to recently. I played the first Socom more than I slept.

Socom 3 was my least favorite of the three made. The maps are just way too big. The best one was the second one. If it's like that, I'll consider a PS3 when I have extra cash.

Hey, it's that fanboy that fails to read anything. Did you even read the article? And who gives a crap if it's a BUNDLE? It's still gonna be 600 bucks which no one wants to spend on a video game system (If you can even call it that anymore). Why do you think they're in this situation right now? Damn blind fanboys.

Saying Socom 2 is better than Socom is a terrible, terrible tragedy.

Picked one up yesterday. It's a shame that all the games suck.

If i had one i would get Resistance and Rainbow 6: Vegas.

I have Resistance and don't really like it, and I already have Vegas for the 360, where it shines and where the people I game with are playing.

I got into SOCOM one by the time all the stupid sh*t was going on with the modding and such. SOCOM 2 was awesome. My friends and I used to beat the crap outta people. We'd just mine the place and watch em die. :mischief

Rent MLB 07. I played that the other day and it's awesome.

2 had all the best SOCOM 1 maps (Desert Glory, Frostfire) and also had maps like Crossroads and Vigilance. Clans were a lot easier in that game and the interface was 10x better. And the M60 wasn't as accurate.

No, I'm afraid you're amazingly mistaken. Socom 2 destroyed the best original maps. Rats Nest became dark as hell and passageways were closed off, and Abandoned became dark as hell as well. The best Socom maps were destroyed.

Brightness setting on your TV. Worked well.
