Been a Marlins fan since the SeaDogs showed up in Portland. I am really ticked with the people around here -- even with the SeaDogs here, they were never really Marlins supporters. And, this year, when the SeaDogs became the Red Sox AA team, you NEVER heard of anyone rooting for the Marlins -- people couldn't forget about the Fish fast enough, even though several of our beloved SeaDogs were now Marlins! But NOW, that the Yankees beat Boston, everyone here is "Go Marlins!" Makes me sick :angry

 

As for support, I often wear my 1997 WS shirt as well as a great shirt of CJ with the slogan "Thou Shalt Not Steal". Of course, I also wear my Yankee shirt on occasion :whistle

Can't talk much about my fervent Florida support, since I only recently pledged it, along with most of the other pale-hosers loitering around here. But at least I can say I was a week ahead of most of the rest of Massachusetts. It's been making me sick, too... today I even heard Mike Barnicle on the radio braying "Go MAAH-lins." Grapes never tasted so sour.

 

On the plus side, I can actually catch game one "on the town" tricked out in still-smellin'-new Marlin gear and be just another hardcore Yankee hater, which, of course, I've always been. Different story had the Red Sox been in it.

 

Kinda funny story re: Sea Dogs. I was in attendance for Fenway's "Maine Day" last month b/c their opponent was the Right Sox (we cleaned Boston's clock). Slugger, the Sea Dog mascot, was in attendance and was outperforming the shag-rug Muppety something called Wally the Green Monster. By the end of the game, most of the fans in my section wanted to keep the dog, and I was right with 'em on that.

 

I'm also reminded here that I lived in Charlotte for a while back when the Knights were the Marlins' AAA affiliate. These days, they're ours. Another cool Sox/Fish connection.

Don't forget the fact that Warrick has great celebration dances. (Sadly, that means a lot to me). The "photo shoot" he and Chad Johnson did in the end zone in Cleveland was the funniest thing I've seen in a long time. The fact that they got fined for it made it that much better. I know some people despise stuff like this, but I'm getting the Bengals 2003 highlight video just for that, seriously.

Marvin Lewis is a good coach, but the Bengals won't have consistent success until new ownership takes over IMO.

yeah, or Tommie Harris, who although not as big, combines speed and size at DT similarly to anthony mcfarland, who is THE BEST d tackle on tampa bay.

They're going 6-10 this year. They've still got games against Houston (in Cincy), San Diego, and Arizona. Plus, they'll find ways to win a couple more, they're too competitve not to. I mean, yes, they're 1-4, but they could EASILY be 4-1 and Dillon's been hurt since halftime of the Oakland game (2nd game).

Vasher is good, but ever heard of Chris Gamble?? If you want a CB, he's your man with his combination of hands, size, and skill. I'm in Columbus, Ohio, so it's safe to say I've heard of Chris Gamble. He's a junior though and while he might go pro, I bet he stays. He needs another year at corner. He didn't even play it in high school and he's still way too prone to getting burned (look under Evans, Lee from this past Saturday night). He's going to be an excellent NFL corner, but Vasher's a better pick right now. Reggie Williams took Gamble to school in the first game, luckily Pickett didn't have enough time to make the really big plays.

That guy is amazing. Linebacker size with Conerback speed playing Safety. It's completely unfair, he's a LOCK to be a top 10 pick if he stays healthy, and will more likely be a top 5 pick IMO.

today i took my car and my credit card and went to Westland on a mission. went straight to JC Penny and went straight to the shirts like i was drawn to them but couldnt find hats so went straight to champs got a shirt and a hat but then decided to get 3 hats for me, dad and grandpa. would've bought the Marlins game hat with the World Series logo on the side but then i figured ill get it another day.

I wore my Marlins hat today again to work and had a customer tell me that the Yankees were going to kick our @$$. I asked him for the winning lotto numbers too and I guess he felt stupid because he walked away.
