Left side of the infield stats;Mets vs. Marlins.

Featured Replies

With all the talk about those two players from the Mutts I figured I would take a look at their stats as of today and here's what I found.Numbers don't lie and it does look like we have the best left side of the infield,no questions asked.Interesting ain't it?

:hat

Go Cabs and Hanley. It's really frustrating how the mets folk get most of the attention but as long as our guys get the job done i dont really care

How do you know "marlins_canes_heat" has ever won a championship? I don't think it's fair to make assumptions like that...

marlins, canes, heat = champions

Being in fourth place won't allow those two to get the recognition they deserve. People had Rollins over Hanley for the AS Game. None the less, those are numbers I will be e-mailing to my Mets friends ASAP.

Wright did NOTHING April as he was adjusting to his new swing. Count his stats since May at least, because he didnt even have a HR in April and has close to 20 now. And we also forgot about that great defense the marlins play.

lol I was waiting for your homer comment.. that's the best you got?? A new swing and defense :lol

Wright is a good defensive player. Cabrera is an average defender. This doesn't make up for Cabrera's advantage in hitting.

Plus, the "Take out his April" argument doesn't hold any water with me. Take out Cabrera's May and he's Barry Bonds. Even if Wright has his normal month he's not even close to Cabrera.

Reyes' defense is incredibly overrated, and Hanley's is underrated. By most defensive metrics, Hanley and Reyes are at least equal, and by FRAA (which is probably the one I trust most) he's worse than Hanley. And Hanley's much better offensively.

Miguel is definitely a better offensive player then David minus the speed but we all know how great Cabrera isnt defensively, so you know i'm taking DDub.

BTW, for your pleasure, Wright and Reyes are playing their 400th game together on tuesday :notworthy .

Mets lead the division by 3.5 games, thank you Braves bullpen.

edit: Reyes had been in a 5-36 skid, make the comparison between he and hanley a couple weeks ago and all hanley would have is a a higher SLG.

Reyes is better then hanley, everyone knows it.

Reyes better than Hanley???Maybe in some parallel universe. What you are experiencing right now is called BTN (Big Time Denial).

Wright has saved 9 runs this year above what an average player might have. Cabrera has saved 1 above the average. (For comparison's sake, Zimmerman is at 13, Rolen at 10, Arod 7, and Chipper Jones at -7). Thats a pretty big difference, but Cabrera still rates as a sightly above average third baseman.

Now, for Batting Runs Above Average Cabrera is at 43 and Wright is at 29. So a much larger gap.

If you'd like a stat that takes into account Wright's admittedly ridonculous stolen base abilities, EQA has Wright at .309 (.260 is average, or David Eckstein) and Cabrera is at .337.

In short, you'd have to be an absolute moron to choose Wright over Miguel.

Hanley has much more power then Reyes, that's about it.

Actually I think Hanley has a higher ceiling than Reyes because his power is only going to get better, it's easy to see him getting a 30/30 season, dare I say, a 40/40 season (but that's my homer talking) and Miggy is already being compared to hitters like Hank Aaron, I'm sorry but I'm going with the guy who has the potential to be one of the greatest hitters the game has ever seen (I mean he's already got those legendary story things you hear about with other hall of famers, i.e. getting brushed down by Clemens in the WS then hitting a HR off the next pitch and let's not forget the intentional walk hit).

But it's not like you guys suck, the greater thing is these are 4 of the best young players in the game and we get the privilege of watching them for the next 10-15 years.

P.S. Sorry if I overdramatized Miggy but I truly think we're watching someone special here, if he ever left here, I honestly would cry my eyes out.

I'm a mets fan on a marlins forum, why would I chose Miguel?

Because your a baseball fan who uses facts and reality to make your decision about the better player as opposed to a uniform?
