Saying that Hermida was going to improve was really going out on a limb.

Congrats.

That's why I was completely astounded when people were so blatantly bashed for saying so...

It's not really deserving of an entire thread of its own when it was only a small minority who said the stupid things about Hermida. They were just loud about it, I think (hope) the majority on here knew how stupid they sounded.

You make it sound like YOU alone went out on a limb against the entire forum about Hermida, when thats just not the case.

I am seriously not concerened with who said what, I'm just seriously amped about Hermida's July, that's all.

I know a lot of people see a lot in Hermida, and have believed in him through all of this growth.

It's just awesome to see Hermida going at it the way he is... Hanley, Miguel, Hermida, Hammer

alright, i openly accept my place as a hermida basher. but, at no point did i or did most of the other more reasonable people who criticize him routinely reject his enormous offensive potential. at the time, i'm sure i said he was hitting like sh*t because he was. but its not as if i still didn't realize what he would eventually be capable of. beinfest picked him 11th. that's all i need to know about his potential.

and the key reason why i and others do bash him is because of his disastrous fielding from time to time. so until somebody posts his immaculate (or close to that) fielding stats, he still won't be where he needs to be as an everyday right fielder. it's a little absurd to say "i told you so" because he's having a really solid month and realizing some of the great potential everybody knows he has.

This thread is pointless....

For one, there's a "Hermida needs to get his act together" crowd, and there's a "Be patient" crowd. Who is arguing the guy needs to be cut, or that he is a bust already?

Secondly, it's one damn month. It's ridiculous to tout patience to the "anti-Hermida " contingency for a year and a half, then go gloating over a one month sample size when Hermida is hot.

I've been backing him but have recently been swinging the other way. I have been losing patience with his defence. His offence has really never been an issue with me because I thought that would come around given time. He just has a nice plate presence and such a sweet swing.

Happy he's having a good month........He still stinks IMO...

I dont want him in RF for us past this season unless it's off the bench...

I'm sorry but you need to buy yourself a clue.

Hermida pisses me off because im still waiting for the potential to strike, and maybe hes in it right now, i really hope he can stay like this for the rest of the season, or close to it.

Hes had a great July.

please explain to me what that clue is.....

if your happy with this mediocre ofer good for you....but i wanna win and its not gonna happen with this guy in starting in RF

not that getting a better RFer would equal win's right away but its a good start....

Please tell me you are being sarcastic. i am the type of person that generally reads threads and only observes while supporting the team by going to games and watching on MLB direct tv. though i MUST say, this is bad when some who call themselfs fans of not only the marlins but of baseball can actually post trash like some of the things from the above people. this is a team sport.

for all the hermida haters out there answer this. If you take all HIS fielding errors add them up and ASSUME they were all 9th inning errors that cost the game (which they were not.) what number's do you have that would be in the lost column now? or better yet put those errors as would be wins and where is the teams record? STILL below .500 before you bash also think to yourself howmany LEADS have the relief pitchers given up? i do not have to look that up to tell you its more than hermidas and cabreras errors together. as you stated if you want to start somewhere to fix...that would be a better start than the YOUNGEST everyday player on the team. you can not fault him for not having a learning curve like hanley...(he is special) Hermida will be to, and if the "fans" don't chill he could be traded only to come back and hurt the marlins in the future. his hitting is "slowly" coming around and so will his fielding. for those of you who like stats here are some on our still young player.

League Avg. batting for RF .277

Hermidas .262

League Avg. HR for RF 7

Hermidas 9 (with most in Dolphin stadium)

League Avg. RBI for RF 30

Hermida 34

all after missing the start of the season. as long as he can stay healthy (key) and slowly adjust and learn he will continue to move up.

and FYI, the whole team is suffering while fredi is the coach. that too is a move that needs to be looked into.

yeah but its good when you know he has been hitting in the 6th and 8th spot. and out for a while to start the season. though i'd like to see them move him to 2nd.
