I saw this yesterday... I think you have to be crazy to choose any SS in baseball over Hanley right now in terms of talent/age/salary. Oh I'd take him too. There's still the matter of his defense though, and until he improves we don't even know for sure that he will be a SS. Although I believe the Marlins FO have every intention of keeping him there. As he gains experience, I think his defense is bound to improve. Especially with the physical talent he has. Yes, he will be fine. Everyone forgets that throughout Hanley's minor league career, he was considered a plus defender. Plus, he has extreme athletic gifts which paired with experience and poise makes for plus defenders.

I'm aware that orange peels are one of the ingredients but I've never picked it up, unfortunately. I'm surprised most of you haven't heard of Hoegaarden. It's a pretty widely distributed "higher class" beer. Many bars (the better ones) will have it on draft. I think here in the city the average price I pay for a six pack is about $10. I dont like hoegaarden at all. If I want a hefe I'd rather take Paulaner, UFO or Erdinger. Erdinger: Now that's a winner.

Hoegarden is good. If your into Hefe's... Wittekerke is another widely distributed cheap hefe, that I like a lot. I'm a big fan of the Shipyard selections... as well as most Dogfish brews.

Gonzalez, 40, is also drawing consideration from the Brewers, and could be a fit for the Mariners if Seattle includes outfielder Adam Jones in a trade for Orioles left-hander Erik Bedard or another starting pitcher. The Marlins are not expected to contend after trading third baseman Miguel Cabrera and left-hander Dontrelle Willis to the Tigers for six younger players. Gonzalez might prefer to join a team with a better chance of reaching the postseason. However, playing time is important to Gonzalez, who stands an outside chance of reaching 3,000 hits, an unofficial standard for the Hall of Fame. Gonzalez, who turns 41 in September, finished last season with 2,502 hits. A native of Tampa, Gonzalez would appeal to the large Cuban-American community in Miami. He also is familiar with Marlins bench coach Carlos Tosca and hitting coach Jim Presley from their days together with the Diamondbacks. Gonzalez spent last season with the Dodgers, batting .278 with 15 homers and 68 RBIs in 139 games, his lowest total since 1995. A rift grew between the Dodgers' veterans and youngsters, but Gonzalez's main complaint was that manager Grady Little failed to communicate lineup decisions with him. Little was replaced by Joe Torre after the season ended, and the Dodgers have shown little interest in bringing back Gonzalez. With the approval of the final $50 million needed to fund the new Marlins ballpark, it finally looks like the Marlins may have a deal in place for their new stadium. If this is the case, Marlins' FO has been known to have stated that they will not sign players to long-term contracts or look at higher profile free agents until they have completed a deal for a new stadium. So, with these latest developments, do you believe that the Marlins organization will finally shed their miser label and spend some money to improve the ballclub? Too bad Marlins management did not wait another two weeks before trading Cabrera and Willis. Don't jinx it yet... we're only halfway there on the country approval. They should hash out and vote on the major stadium plan this afternoon. Even then, there are more hoops to jump through... the major one being Jeffrey Loria.

I personally am not a fan of our current branding. I would love to see us move in a different direction branding wise. Most every team in the MLB has these iconic, historic brands and ours looks a little ridiculous in my opinion. I would love to restart history with some Marlins branding.

Dominguez and Stanton won't be ready in 2 years. Hammer and Jacobs would be in their 5th year. The team will be built around Hanley/Maybin/Hermida/Coghlan, maybe Hammer or Jacobs Miller/Volstad/Gaby/Trahern/Sinkbeil/Thompson/Cruz/Tucker, pick 2 of Johnson/Anibal/Nolasco/Vanden Hurk, and whatever current RP don't get saves and stay consistent (RP are cheap in arbitration unless they get the mythical save stat). The rest of the team will be acquired through moving Uggla, Olsen, Gregg, Mitre, Amezaga, Cody, maybe Hammer/Jacobs depending on what happens (i.e., as noted the perfect situation would be G. Sanchez turning into a MLB quality 1B. Doubtful, but it would seriously help things), and some of the additional arms. The Marlins should easily be able to figure out how to acquire a C and 2-3 corner players (1B, 3B, LF) from moving this group. Payroll for what I propose here is approx $22-25 mil (depending on keeping Hammer/Jacobs), without the remaining positional starters and a bench. Could easily, through acquisitions and free agency, fill out everything in the $30 range. Things are looking good at building a longterm contender of players who will peak at the same time (everyone above), with natural replacements in the wings (Dominguez, Stanton, West, Correa). It's just going to take a year or two for it to come together at the MLB level. The trick is, getting that stadium so Hanley and Hermida can get resigned and the team can afford most of the 5th year arbitration cases to keep the contending window open for a number of years. By the end of 2010, you don't think they will receive some partial play? From what I understand, they are both going to be moved quickly due to Dominguez ready glove, and Stanton's advanced power... 2 things most players usually need considerable development time in. We'll see, I suppose.

Go back to Colletti and get LaRoche. We're not going back to the Angels for Wood, so I would say he's the guy you want. The Dodgers need pitching prospects going forward and relievers for 2008. If there's a better 3B prospect/ready for prime-timer go get him but if we're going young(er) do the right thing and at least see if we can pry LaRoche away somehow. DREAMMMMMM, dream dream dream dream DREEEEAAAMMM! Sorry 2003, had to do it man. It appears that ship has sailed and may not be back for a long time. I believe the Dodgers would accept 2 relief pitchers for LaRoche. I doubt they wanna negotiate with the Marlins anytime soon. It appear neither are the Dodgers or the Angels are thrilled with how the Marlins negotiated the Cabrera trade. According to Joe Frisaro, the marlins are also thinking of trading for barfield. Hes very solid defensively and i think last year he just had his sophmore slump, but i think he can rebound. Link?

Hermida can hit anything, and has great patience. Uggla is a straight fastball hitter with little patience. That's exactly why Hermida should be #2. Thanks for clarifying.

There's absolutely 0 reason why Uggla should be batting ahead of Hermida, Hanley, Hammer, or even Jake.... well, maybe Jake but I tend to think if he is healthy he's pretty good I always hear you speak, but I never hear anything. Can you for once EXPLAIN why? What's your reasoning? I've explained mine... And I've also explained the alternative and how I see that perspective being reasonable. You've done neither. So, what can you contibute to this thread besides "you're wrong, I'm right"? I can't believe this is a serious request. Dan Uggla can kill an inning faster than anyone. He can also save an inning. Why don't you put his hit or miss style in the hole and let him have the occassion of saving innings. He will ruin innings as well, but at least he's not ruining them around Hanley, Hermida, and Maybin.

I don't remember where I saw it, but someone asked if Sean will be ready to go in Jupiter in April Spoke to him about 30 minutes ago.
